Dear Pat Howell,
Please consider this letter and the enclosed information as my formal application for the
position of special education teacher as advertised in the Woodward News.
I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Education from Northeastern State University in 2013.
I’ve been on the Dean’s Honor Roll for every year I attended, and I finished with a GPA of 3.4. I
received my high school diploma from Sallisaw High School in 2009, graduating with a GPA of
3.7.
As listed in my resume, I pride myself on my leadership and communication skills, as
well as my ability to work with children. I also have basic computer skills. I volunteered at the
library for four months, baby sat for four months, and tutored other students for two years. I have
great ambition, and I work myself to the bone to accomplish my goals.
It has been a passion of mine to work with children with special needs, and I am grateful
for the opportunity to apply for this job. Thank you for looking at my resume, and I hope to hear
from you soon.
Sincerely,
Jessica Farrell

Dear Pat Howell,
I take pleasure in writing to you in regard of Jessica Farrell who is seeking a position at
your school. I’ve known Jessica for five years as a classmate and co-worker, and in each
situation, she has proven to be quite determined and hard-working to get what she needs done.
In school, she would always study and read to get very high scores on her tests, and she
never missed an assignment. For class projects, she worked to produce the highest quality of
work. She even tutored a number of other students, and helped me, personally, with some of my
work.
At the library, Jessica never missed a work day, and always went out of her way to help
the patrons find a good book to read. She even exceeded expectations as a reader to the children,
with her ability to show the pictures on the page and to make funny voices for each character.
In person, she is peppy and energetic, extremely smart and witty. Jessica is a great friend
and co-worker, and she’s a joy to be around.
Sincerely,
