Part-Time Temporary
Salary: £13.37-£18.39 per hour
The College currently has a vacancy for a Lecturer in Nautical Science on a part-
time temporary basis. This post is on an as-and-when required basis and as such
could fit in and around any existing commitments you may have.
As a Lecturer, you would be involved in all aspects of developing and delivering
merchant navy cadetships as well as a variety of short courses.
We require you to:
Have held an MCA Certificate of Competency at Master Mariner level or
Armed Services Navy Command level (with STCW 95 conversion)
Have served as a minimum of Chief Mate Unlimited on a range of vessel
types and preferably have experience of sailing as Master
Have experience of sailing in international waters
Have held short-course certification (GMDSS, Safety Officer etc)
Be able to clearly explain, both orally and in writing, all aspects of nautical
science to students
Be able to demonstrate excellent record-keeping skills
Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
