FALMER PARISH COUNCIL
The traffic lights installation at the Village Way/ Falmer South junction has been held up due to
ESCC’s proposal to introduce a 40mph speed limit through the junction. The police have not
supported this initiative, due to the short extent of the area which is 300m in length. So the
existing national speed limit will remain. The start of the traffic lights work has been postponed
until March 22nd.
A reminder of the meeting on Friday March 26th at 7pm in the village hall with a representative
from BHA football club. The issue for discussion is how football fans can be prevented from
parking in the village on match days when the stadium opens in 2011. This will be an important
meeting because the end result could be barriers across the entrance to Falmer North and
Falmer South on match days and villagers having to rely on passes to get in and out. We
strongly advise you to come along and have your say.
The work you see is the installation of edge protection to the parapets of the bridge because the
parapets are going to be replaced.
The Highways authority has ordered new equipment to detect where the fault in the electricity
cable lies which has put many of the lights on the A27 out of action. This will save having to dig
up the road to try to find the break.
The Steiner Kindergarten will be holding an Easter Fayre in the village hall on Saturday 20 th
March 10- 3pm.
