Going Solo:
The Climax in the Tales of Nar’Gocia Series:

Chapter 1:
Rage:
Adam prepared for war. The situation was grim: Samus Aran XVI had been abducted by
an unknown assailant just moments after they escaped from the lair of the creature known
as Ridley in their spaceships. A large group of mechanized tentacles had snatched her
ship from space, dragging it down to the smashed, metal remains of Kahlekiii 13. Adam
remembered the horror of that moment as the love of his life was hopelessly sucked into
the enormous, blackened spire. Now Adam’s ship was pulling him closer to his goal.
Whoever—or whatever—was in that spire (he assumed it to be the final guardian of the
trials that needed to be beaten for the power of the Metroid Prime to be unleashed; as if
you already didn’t know ) was opening fire on him. Countless laser cannons pummeled
his shields, and it would take a miracle for him to get through. “Computer, set the ship for
Manuever D5-7,” he calmly said. The ship spun like a driedel on caffeine, dodging many
of the blasts. He was almost there. Activating the telescopic properties of his Scan Visor,
Adam saw the hangar lock closing. He fired two proton missiles, which smashed the door
of the hangar to bits. He typed in the complex, 50-digit incryption key that set the ship’s
turrets to automatic fire, the blasts homing in on the firepower being drummed out by the
cannons on the twisted steel surface. Lasers rained forth from the ship’s attack
mechanisms, annihilating all the cannons. Within moments, Adam’s ship was in the
hangar. Thousands of Combat Androids came through doors. “Ship! Ram!” he shouted,
then teleported into the hangar itself. Setting his primary weapon to Super Missiles, he
opened fire on the drones. The combined attacks of the ship and Adam destroyed the
drones. He ran towards the hatch that led out of the hangar. He hesitated, thinking for a
moment. Then he activated his ship alarm.

Samus opened her eyes. Dark, she thought. Then she realized this was the place of her
nightmares. Her throat encrusted in sleep-energy-deprivation, she couldn’t scream.
Chapter 2:
Assault:
Adam began to walk down the hallway. Everything was quiet. Too quiet. “Whoa!” he
shouted as the corridor tilted forward. He slipped. Fell. “Aaugh!” he said as he collided—
painfully—with the hatch he had been walking towards. He looked up. Then he realized
why the hall had looked so weird. It was an elevator shaft, tilted. The elevator fell toward
him like a runaway…um…elevator. “No! And I set my beam back to Power!” he shouted
in vain. Quickly, he fired his grapple beam, stopping the large block-like elevator in it’s
fast descent. He tossed it through the hangar hatch. He winced as he heard a loud smash.
His X-ray Visor comferred his fears: his ship was smashed beyond repair. “Damn! And I
just got a paint job!” he said to himself.

Samus stared at the view screen in front of her face. Amazing, she thought. Exactly what I
would do! “Yes, it is quite amazing,” said a deep, deep, yet somehow feminine voice.
“Who said that? Who’s there?”

Adam had already gone through the hatch. Now he was greeted by a pool of acid. The
blue-clad warrior stuck his hand into the pool. “Aaagh!” It was capable of damaging his
skin, but not his suit. It had to be syntheticly made. Then Adam heard the voice of his
assaulter: “SO, YOU WISH TO RESCUE YOUR LADY IN WAITING, FOOLISH
ADAM?!! THEN SWIM THE POOL OF DOOM!!!!” Adam snorted. “Pretty sad name
for a weapon of mass destruction, whoever-you-are!” Secretely, he was fearful. I’ll have
to put all my suit power into my shields, he thought. My weapons will be down, but it’s
the only way… He leaped into the acid. “There’s gotta be a catch. This is easy! I’m not
taking a single hit!” These words would almost prove his undoing, as two enormous,
sharklike beasts emerged from the sides of the walls. Adam, not one to panic, panicked.
The sharks were swimming towards him at extremely high speed. He reacted, tossing a
cyro-grenade from his belt. The sharks literally froze. Adam swam ahead, hoping they
wouldn’t thaw for a long time.
Chapter 3:
The Dome:
Adam stepped out of the acid, reactivated the suit’s systems, and entered the next room,
trying not to think of the nightmares to come. He mosied into a dome-like room. But
something wasn’t right. Using his Magno Power Grip to tear steel from the wall, he
tossed it into the room. Countless laser cannons atomized the metal chunk. Easy enough,
Adam thought. He began to use his Plasma Beam to literally melt through the floor. In
moments, an easily navigated passage had been burrowed through the ground beneath the
dome. He walked, quickly but cautiously. But the person in the center of the massive
fortress Adam was navigating was smarter than he. Three large, undamaged MetaTurrets
popped up from the ground and opened fire on his unprepared body. Minor damage, he
thought. Switching to Ice Beam, he froze the turrets and moved on nonchalantly. He
didn’t have time to fight petty security devices. Samus was in danger. But he didn’t know
how much danger she was truly in.

Samus had been screaming for several minutes. She stopped, gasping desperately for
breath. “Are you quite done?” her capture said. Samus imagined if the horrendous
creature had a mouth, it would be sneering. “Adam will save me, you evil space hag,”
Samus said defiantly, ignoring the evil being’s question and paraphrasing a line from the
game Star Fox Assault. “That’s what you think. Look where he is heading to!” Samus
gasped in fear.
Chapter 4:
Shot From All Sides:
Adam entered a room cautiously. The door closed behind him and locked, with a
whooshing sound. Adam about faced from the door, which he had turned towards when
he heard it. Then he picked up the bogies on his HUD’s radar. There was what seemed to
be an infinite amount. Then they appeared, and Adam gasped. Zebesian Space Pirates.
Hundreds of them. Adam struck first blood, firing a Super Missile at the pirate closest to
him. Then, in unison they attack. Adam killed the first few with his primary weapons, but
they were closing in. He impaled several that were in line with a magnetic lance made
from his Grapple Beam, but then they began to physically assault him. He quickly used
the helmet servos to pick an Alt-Form and chose the Halfturret. Then bottom half of him
began to kill the pirates with its Battlehammer while his top half sliced and diced the
forces with the lasersword. Then his turret began to take punishment, so he de-Alt-
Formed and maneuvered so many of them were lined up. He fired the Imperialist, cutting
through most of the troops. Blood soaked his suit, but the windshield wipers cleared his
vision. Many more were attacking. They began to pummel the suit with fist and beam
alike. Then he Screw Attacked through them and found the door. It was on a higher level
behind a glass panel. Without dropping his onslaught, he shattered the glass panel and
went through the door. The door locked behind him. This was just a hallway with
transparent walls, revealing the complex and intriguing circuitry within. He would love to
study it and copy it to improve his suit, but Samus was in danger. Perhaps he could study
it after the Seventh Guardian was dead. If the base didn’t blow up first. Adam smiled.
Chapter 5:
Cerebellum:
Adam entered the room at the edge of the hallway. This other room was dark and death
felt everywhere. There was a grated floor, revealing the blue acid (possibly Phazon,
Adam thought) that was beneath. At the end of the room was Samus. All her limbs were
chained, the leg chains leading to the floor and the arm chains leading to the ceiling.
Adam was relieved she still had her suit (read Book 5 to see why Samus can’t survive in
oxygen). But to the right of Samus was something far more fearsome. It was a large glass
tank filled with a clear liquid. But that wasn’t all. In this tank was an enormous, maroon,
brain. Numerous tubes covered the brain, leading to other pipes outside the tank. The
brain had a single eye with a slitted black pupil that was staring at him. Then Adam
remembered what Samus I had described to him (when he was a computer) when she had
to explore Zebes. It was the archfoe of Adam’s lover’s ancestor. This monstrous creature
was Mother Brain. Adam felt chilled to the bone. “So,” came Mother Brain’s telepathic
voice. “We meet at last, Adam. Samus has told me quite a bit about you.” This voice sent
terror through Adam. It was deep, emotionless, and mechanical. It was amazing this
creature was alive and not a machine. “But I’m afraid,” continued the monster. “That our
introductions will be quite short. I plan to kill you in the most horrific way possible.”
Adam gulped but said, “I don’t know why I’m asking you this, but what is it?” Mother
Brain seemed to smile. “Why, first I shall strip you. Then I will cut off your genitals and
eat them. Then I will skin you alive and give you a nice salt bath. Oh, and before you ask,
I will inject you with drugs that will increase the pain and keep you alive for 24 hours.”
Adam was filled with rage that something could be this evil. “But I’m not finished. I will
burn you and chop off your fingers after slowly ripping out you fingernails and toenails.
Then I will cover you in honey and the most hungry ants possible. Then I will impale you
and keep the spear in you. Then you will be chained down and exposed to extremely cold
ice, radiation intensified one hundred times, and electrical currents. Then I will gouge out
your eyes with violet (the most hot of heat) hot pokers and leave those in. Then I will
chop off you nose, rip out your teeth, and begin to chop up your brain, all the while
playing a recording of your screams and my laughing combined with a very loud screech
that will leave you deaf. You will be alive for all this and I will enjoy it a lot.” Adam
muscles tightened. Then he pointed his gun at Mother Brain’s single eye. “You’ll have to
fight me first,” he said as he fired a Super Missile. “NOOO!!!!” Mother Brain screamed
as its tank shattered, the liquids draining out. Adam leaped at the monster and began to
pound on the top of it. Blood squirted out, splattered over Adam’s suit, but he didn’t care.
“YOU’LL NEVER DESTROY US!!!!” he screamed as his would be torturer. “No! No!
Spare me! I did nothing!” shouted the thing. “NOTHING!!!!!!!” Adam shouted, aghast.
“You killed and tortured innocents! You annihilated worlds for your own sick, twisted
amusement! And worst of all, above the skies of Phenandra Drifts, you murdered Samus
Aran I in her starship while she was unaware!” Mother Brain again seemed to smile. “She
deserved it.” Adam roared in rage and began to fire upon the monster, shattering the
ground beneath the destroyed tank. Then, he jumped off. The one once known as Mother
Brain plunged through the floor, screaming “I shall have my revenge!” Adam whispered,
“No you won’t.” Then he realized the horror was over. The witch was dead. Acid spilled
through the non-visible floor below, killing and burning what remained of Mother Brain.
He turned to Samus. “You did…well…” Samus muttered, obviously in pain. Adam raced
to the chains. “Hmm…I think I know how to pick these locks. Each is different, but I
have a set of skeleton keys.” He took out the Chozo Artifacts and Dark Temple Keys. “I
thought these would be useless,” he said. He then picked the locks on the chains. Samus
dropped down. “So it’s over,” she said. “Yes,” Adam said. “But let’s make sure.”
Activating her acid shield, Samus jumped into the hole. Adam followed.
Chapter 6:
Ressurection:
Adam heard Samus scream, but it was too late. All he could do was land on the rim of the
dark room. Then he saw what made Samus scream. At the bottom, there was bloody red
goo. Adam just barely saw Samus’ black garbed hand get sucked beneath. It wasn’t over.
The battle was just beginning. Adam watched in horror as the goo turned into golden
particles. These formed into an enormous being that would be several Earth building
stories high. This being’s head had three horns emerging from the top. The rest looked
human but had numerous spikes jutting from it. Adam remembered another of Samus’
descriptions. This creature was the Primal Annihilator. It was a weapon that had been
locked away for millennia because it slaughtered the gods. The remains of Mother
Brain’s body had formed into the nightmare. Gorea.
