• No appetite in the morning.
• Increased craving for food in the afternoon and night.
• Halitosis.

Abrotanum
• Dyspnoea with painful sensation as if something were
lodged in the chest and had to be coughed up.
• Sensation of compression in lungs.
• Lungs cannot be fully expanded.
• Dyspnoea, worse lying down.
ABROTANUM
Q. 1. Describe the Abrotanum child?

Describe Abrotanum in Marasmus?
ANS. Child: The Abrotanum child is emaciated with a
flabby, dehydrated, wrinkled skin which hangs in folds.
Emaciation starts from lower limbs and gradually spreads
upwards. Head is weak, cannot hold it up.
Excessive appetite; losing flesh while eating well. Hungry
all the time. Tendency to recurring attacks of diarrhoea, usually
alternating with rheumatic pains.
Mind: Child has incapacity to think, but is extremely
irritable, peevish, cross, violent and would like to do something
cruel.
Abrotanum child is always worse from cold air, cold damp
weather, at night and from checked secretions but always feels
better when having loose stools.

ANS. Characteristic Symptoms: —
1. Marasmus, especially of lower extremities which spreads
upwards. Losing flesh while eating well.

4. Great weakness, prostration and a kind of hectic fever with
children.
Modalities: Aggravation — From cold air, cold damp
weather, at night and from checked secretions.
Amelioration—When having loose stool.

ANS. Cardiac Symptoms: Cardiac symptoms following a
suddenly checked rheumatism of any joint. It is a good remedy for
endocarditis and rheumatic heart diseases. There is cutting and
stitching pain in heart. Cardiac symptoms from suddenly
checked secretion.
ACALYPHA INDICA
Q. Describe the respiratory symptoms of Acalypha indica?
ANS. Respiratory Symptoms: —
● Acalypha is very useful in haemoptysis of phthises,
● There is dullness of chest on percussion.
● Severe pain in chest, progressive emaciation, night sweat,
evening rise of temperature.
● Dry, hard, cough with haemoptysis.
● Blood bright red and profuse in the morning; dark red
clotted in afternoon. .
● Soft and compressible pulse.
● Burning sensation in pharynx, oesophagus and stomach.
● Patient is very weak in the morning, gains strength during
the day.
