acid on the dead body to conceal its identity. A case u/s 302/201 IPC was registered vide
FIR No. 262/11 at PS Sagar Pur. The body was accordingly sent for post-mortem to
ascertain the cause of death.
INVESTIGATION
A team under the supervision of SHO/Sagarpur was constituted who who took up
the investigation of the case immediately. During investigation and local enquiries in the
area, some residents informed that some blood was found spilled near House No.RZ-25-A,
Gali No.31, Indira park which was hardly 150 yards from the nallah where the dead body
was found. The team straightaway went to the aforesaid house and noticed blood stains
in gali no. 31, Indira Park. Following the trail of blood droplets, the police team reached
House No.RZ-25A of the Gali. The main door of the house was locked. On further
enquiries, it was revealed that the said house belonged to Sh. Prem Bhardwaj who is
residing in Purani Nangal, Delhi Cantt area and that he had recently rented out one
portion of his house to two youths. The owner of the house was summoned and the lock
was broken in his presence. On being checked, one blood stained T shirt, one blood
stained blanket, one carpet (Chatai), one blood stained “Karni” ( a house building tool)
were found in the room. Identity cards of Vivekanand s/o Praduman Prashad Shah and
Prabhas Kumar Shah s/o Shiv Narain both r/o Vill. Lilatari, PS Rajaon, District Banka,

the body of Prabhas on his shoulder, which clearly made the team suspicous about the
involvement of Vivekanand in the crime.
MOTIVE & BACKGROUND
On further investigation it was revealed that both Vivekanand and Prabhas @ Puran @
Pankaj are labourers and used to do flooring work in private buildings. The police team
got suspicious when it was learnt that Vivekanand @ Vivek was missing from his house.
It was also revealed that earlier Vivekanand and the deceased were residing in the room
but last month i.e. in September the wife and mother of Vivekanand had come from Bihar
and she was also living with them. However, both the ladies had left for Bihar on
Tuesday i.e. on 18/10/2011.
It was also revealed that the accused Vivekanand had left for his native place in Bihar.
The police got suspicious and another team headed by Inspr Kamal Deep Singh,
ATO/Sagarpur was sent to trace him at his native place i.e. Banka and Bhagal Pur,
Bihar. When the team reached Bhagalpur, the in-laws house of Vivekanand informed
that he had already left from there for Delhi. The team then enquired from Indira Park
but it was found that Vivekanand had not come back to his rented house. The team then
started gathering local information and a reliable input was received from sources that
Vivekanand will be visiting his sister‟s house at Kailash Puri in Sagarpur area. Upon
this a team was deployed and a trap was laid .
On 27/10/2011, Vivekanand @ Vivek was spotted at Kailash Puri chowk. The team
deployed in the area swooped down on him and he was apprehended. He was subjected
to interrogation he disclosed that he had come to Delhi in the year 2008 and started
working as a labourer. Later on he had taken some petty civil work on contract basis.
Since the Contractor work required people of confidence, he called his old friend Prabhas
@ Puran to work with him about 2 years ago. But for the last about 2 months they had
some dispute over money and thereafter that Prabhas @ Puran had started working with
some other person. But they were still residing in same room. In September, 2011,
Vivekanand brought his wife Mrs. Radha and his mother to Delhi and they also started
living together in the same room at Indira park in the rented accomodation. On further
interrogation, Vivekanand revealed that his wife had informed him that Prabhas @ Puran
used to tease her and even tried to molest her. She had also warned Prabhas on
two/three occasions but he did not mend his ways. On this Vivekanand who was already
not in good terms with Prabhas due to the monetary dispute, decided to eliminate him.
During the intervening night of 20/21.10.2011, at about 11 PM, both Vivekanand and
Prabhas had an altercation which escalated into a fight. During the scuffle, Vivekanand
picked up a sharp edged “gandasa” (which is used to cut trees.) and struck Prabhas on
his neck and hands, severly hurting. Instantly Prabhas collapsed. He then poured acid
on his face, private parts and his hands in order to obliterate his identity. Thereafter
this, he carried the dead body of Prabhas on his shoulders towards the Ganda nallah and
dumped his body in the nallah with the intention that the body will not be recognized by
any one.
RECOVERY
1. Blood stained T shirt of Vivekanand.
2. Blood stained „karni‟ used to cement the floor
3. One blood stained mat/chatai
4. One blood stained blanket.
5. One pocha which was used to clean the floor after the crime.

notice that an unidentified youth around 25/26 years of age was taken to
AIIMS Trauma Centre with stab wounds and inspection of scene of crime
indicated substantial loss of blood as large volume of blood was found
scattered all around on the spot. Bereft of eye witness a case of murder
vide FIR No. 173/11 u/s 302 IPC was registered on the DD entry at Police
Station Kapashera and investigation was taken up in right earnest.
OPERATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF DECEASED
In order to early breakthrough, the SHO PS Kapas Hera rushed to
the hospital as it was transpired from the spot that at the time of shifting
the injured to hospital, he was alive. However, upon visiting the hospital,
the injured had already been pronounced „brought dead‟ as unidentified.
In order to establish the identity of the deceased, photographs of the
deceased were taken and circulated in the area.
Based upon the nature of crime all the SHOs and ACsP of the
adjoining police stations including the Addl. DCP/SW, visited the scene of
crime. Thorough search of the area around the place of occurrence was
carried out and the spot was got minutely inspected by the Crime team
and the Dog Squad etc.. Despite strenuous continuous efforts throughout
the night, the identity of the deceased could not be established except
recovery of polythene carry bag. However, the details mentioned on the
polythene bags were also conveyed to the SHO who was in the hospital as
one of the name of a reputed merchandise was found printed on the
polythene bag.
In the night itself two locations where the reputed merchandise was
located were visited by the SHO but except guards none were found
present. However, the photographs of the deceased were shown to all the
guards with the request to share any information as the clothes worn by
the deceased looked like of a security guard without any logo etc.
Next morning in the wee hours, several teams constituted for the
investigation of the case proceeded for the task during which a large
number of the tenants of area falling under Kapas Hera, Dunda Hera and
other adjoining area were shown photographs of the deceased. Likewise a
number of drivers wearing uniform of similar colour were also contacted
for any clue. However, nothing worthwhile could be achieved. In the
meanwhile, a team which had visited the reputed merchandise got some
faint information that the deceased was a driver who was engaged for
transportation of goods to both of its showrooms at Vasant Kunj and
Gurgaon from its warehouse at Gurgaon.
This glean information was developed and ultimately, one of its
employees identified the deceased as a driver namely Pintoo Kumar but no
other details were available with him. However, it was learnt that the
deceased being a driver was a regular visitor to the showroom at Vasant
Kunj and the warehouse located in Garhi Gopal Pur in Gurgaon. Based
upon this input, re-enforcement was sent there but the premises was
found closed, being Sunday. However, detailed efforts led to discovery of
telephone number of another employee, who could be contacted later. He
also identified the deceased and further informed that they have
outsourced supply of articles from its warehouse to private transporter
and the deceased was a driver who was residing in the area of PS Kapas
Hera itself. He further informed that on the fateful day the deceased had
made two trips i.e. one to Ambience Mall, New Delhi at Vasant Kunj in the
morning and 2nd in the evening to DLF Grand Mall Gurgaon. Since the
First place was already visited by the police team, another team visited
DLF Grand Mall where the deceased was also identified. Subsequently,
owner of the tempo, which was being driven by the deceased, was also
traced and finally the deceased was identified and his relatives could be
contacted who also identified the body.
MANHUNT FOR CRIMINALS AND MOTIVE
In addition to the teams deputed for identification of the deceased,
several other teams were also deputed for collection of information about
the criminals involved in this ghastly act. Though nothing
worthwhile/specific information could be achieved in day except the fact
that area adjoining to place of occurrence is mostly visited by school-drop
outs and other juveniles habitual of addiction of fluid etc. who are mostly
seen in the evening.
In the evening, no such movement could be seen possibly due to
large movement of police officials in day time. However, one of the police
party remained stationed in the area to assess real time basis situation
in/around the same time and it came to their notice through one of the
member of Eye-Ear Scheme that one person addicted of fluid was seen
with two strangers at the same time on the preceding evening. It also came
to notice that one fluid addict boy namely Sunil @ Nandu had taken an
apple from a Rehri and after cutting the apple, he had kept the knife with
him while going.
This information was developed systematically and it transpired
that one of the accused Sunil @ Nandu was seen with two strangers.
However, in absence of any specific information or photograph of the
accused, this became a humongous task for the local police to trace
Nandu. However, in order to gather any clue about Nandu, almost the
entire police station staff of PS Kapas Hera was put on the job and except
the Duty officer and few other staff on essential duties, everybody started
making efforts in the area. Ultimately one of the team gathered the
information that the suspected accused Nandu is r/o village Kapas Hera
is missing from his house. Also at the same time efforts were made to
ascertain details of two other boys who were seen with him during the day
of incident. During further efforts, it came to notice that Monu Kumar and
another boy who is found to be JCL were seen with Nandu in the Gali
where the crime took place. Based upon this information, most of the care-
takers of the premises which are being rented out in village Kapas Hera
were contacted and were directed to share any information about any of
the accused.
Due to the pressure mounted by the police, alertness shown by the
care-takers and continuous questioning of persons of such habits, stay of
the trio in the area of PS Kapas Hera became difficult for them (as told by
them after arrest/apprehension). However, the search for them continued
and ultimately, it came to notice that two of the accused namely Sunil @
Nandu and Monu Kumar would be going to one of the rented rooms taken
by them. Based upon this information a trap was laid and in the late
hours on 11.10.2011 both were apprehended and subsequently third
accused who was found to be JCL was apprehended from Tau Devi Lal
Park near Sector 23 A, Gurgaon.
The trio confessed their involvement and revealed that on the fateful
day, none of them had any money and in order to meet their desires of
addiction and food of good quality, they planned to rob anyone coming
from the gali. When one person, later identified as Pintoo Kumar was seen
approaching, one of the accused (JCL) sprang upon him and when could
not choke him down, Nandu lunged the knife at both sides of stomach and
on right upper side of the shoulder and robbed of his belongings including
his purse containing Rs. 1500/-, mobile phone & other documents and
managed to flee towards sector 21, Gurgaon and later to the Kapas
Hera/Dunda Hera border where they consumed liquor and ate non-veg.
food etc.
The accused have further confessed that after committing the crime,
they shared the booty. Nandu being notorious kept phone & Rs. 1000/-
and Rs. 500/- was given to Monu Kumar. On the way, they had thrown
the purse of deceased after taking out the cash, Driving license and PAN
Card and had also hidden the knife. The driving license was kept by the
JCL for its copy to buy SIM connection, Monu had kept the PAN card for
SIM similar use etc. All the above articles including the purse except cash
have been recovered on the instance of the accused persons. It also
transpired that Nandu and Monu had changed their clothes whereas, the
JCL was found wearing the same clothes wearing at the time of incident,
have also been recovered. All the accused have been produced in the
courts and JJB and further investigation of the case is being carried out.
This was a unique case which could be cracked with the help of a
polythene bag, which led to establishing the identity of the deceased and
on the other side vital clues in respect of miscreants provided by the stake
holder of „Eye-Ear Scheme‟ bore fruits and finally police got early break
through.

BRIEF FACTS OF THE CASE
On 29.8.2011, the Anti-Auto Theft Squad of South-West District had
arrested two notorious robbers Umesh @ Michal, (aged about 32 years) S/o
Umed Singh R/o Village Papprawat, Najafgarh, New Delhi and Mahender @
Monu (aged about 22 years) S/o Gyan Chand R/o Village Jharoda Kalan,
Najafgarh, New Delhi who were involved in a robbery at a jweller shop in
the area of PS Chhawla. On interrogation, they not only admitted their
involvement in the above said robbery but also disclosed that they had
killed one Manjeet, a resident of Najafgarh, in Distt. Sangrur, Punjab. They
also admitted that the contract to kill Manjeet was given to them by none
other than his mother Smt. Rajesh @ Lalli.
OPERATION AND INVESTIGATION
On 29.8.2011, the AATS wing of South-West District received a secret
specific information that one Umesh who is a BC of PS Chhawla and is
involved in various cases of robbery, will come to Jharoda to meet
someone. On receipt of the information a team under the supervision of
ACP/Operations comprising of Inspr. PS Rana, Inspr/AATS, SI Jitender
Dagar, HC Vinod and Ct. Rajeev was constituted. The team immediately
swung into action and laid a trap in the area of Jharoda where the suspect
was likely to come. At about 7 PM on the same day, Umesh was seen
coming on the Najafgarh – Bahadurgarh Road. He was on foot going
towards the Jharoda Village to meet his old accomplice namely Mahender.
But as soon as Umesh @ Michale saw the police staff in plain clothes, he
tried to run away into the streets. However the alert police party chased
and over-powered him. When quizzed about his intentions and likely motive
to visit Jharoda Village, Umesh disclosed that he was going to meet his
accomplice Mahender @ Monu. Mahender was also picked up at the
instance of Umesh @ Michale.
INTERROGATION
Both Umesh @ Michale and Mahender @ Monu were subjected to
interrogation about their recent involvement in various crimes in or outside
Delhi. Initially, they tried to mislead the Police team by saying that they
had stopped committing crime and were living as law abiding citizens.
However on sustained questioning, contradictions in their statements raised
suspicion in the minds of the police team. Soon they broke down and
confessed having looted a jwellery shop in the area of Chhawla in April,
2011 on gun-point. Umesh was wearing one of the looted gold chains at
the time of his arrest which confirmed their involvement in the robbery. On
further interrogation, a shocking revelation was made by the accused that
they had also murdered a boy namely Manjeet in Distt. Sangrur, Punjab on
29.1.2011. The duo revealed that during Jan 2011, one lady Smt. Rajesh @
Lalli, resident of Village Jharoda, had contacted Mahender @ Monu, who is
living in the same Village and complained about her son Manjeet’s
misbehavior with her. Mahender further revealed that Smt. Rajesh @ Lalli
had some extra marital affairs and some persons used to visit her in her
own house during the absence of her husband and her son Manjeet. When
Manjeet, the deceased, came to know about these affairs, he scolded his
mother and warned her to refrain from such activities as it gives a bad
name to the family and will also spoil their reputation in the locality.
However, Smt. Rajesh was in no mood to mend her ways. Aggrieved by the
rude behavior of her son and finding it difficult to strike any compromise
with Manjeet, she decided to clear him from her way. Thus, she contacted
Mahender @ Monu of her locality and asked him to eliminate her son.
Mahender, in turn, contacted his friend Umesh @ Michale, who was a BC of
the area and introduced him to Smt. Rajesh @ Lalli. The deal was struck
as per which Smt. Rajesh paid a sum of Rs.2 lacs to them to get rid of her
son Manjeet at the earliest as his presence she was preventing her from
indulging in her extra-marital affairs. Incidently, Manjeet, the deceased,
son of Smt. Rajesh was known to both the above mentioned accused and
they had, at times, consumed liquor together. On 29.1.2011, Mahender @
Monu contacted Manjeet and called him to accompany them to Punjab on the
pretext of meeting a girl. They boarded a train from Bahadurgarh to Distt.
Sangrur, Punjab. In the evening they reached Lehra, a small town in Distt.
Sangrur where they consumed liquor together. When Manjeet got highly
intoxicated, Mahender @ Monu and Umesh @ Michale took him to an
isolated place and assaulted him with bricks and knife. They also smashed
his face with stones so that his identity could not be revealed.
The entire episode was corroborated by the local police of Lehra,
Distt. Sangrur, Punjab and it was confirmed that a case FIR No.15 dated

nothing could be found to reveal the identity of the deceased.
“Hue & Cry” notices were also got pasted at conspicuous places apart from other
means deployed for identification of the dead body but the dead body could not be
identified. Later, a dedicated team was deployed to conduct a door to door enquiry from
the well known Call Centres at Gurgaon situated adjacent to Delhi border.During this
exercise, on 17/7/2011, SI Sandeep of P.S.Chhawla came in contact with IBM Call Centre
and met the Transport Supervisor. On seeing the photograph of deceased, the supervisor

mobile. On the analysis of CDR, it was found that one specific Mobile Number was in
continuous contact with the mobile of the deceased Deepak. CDR of the said mobile
phones were also obtained. On further analysis and after IMEI search of this mobile
number it was revealed that the same mobile instrument has been used for two different
mobile numbers. The ownership of one of the mobile numbers belonged to one Zayed Ali
R/o Sheetla Colony Gurgaon and the other mobile number belonged to one Rashid S/o
Khushi Mohammad, permanent resident of Parikshat Garh, Meerut (U.P). Locations of the
mobile phones of deceased and of those used by Rashid were found to be same. This was
an important clue after which the Police zeroed in on Rashid. Zayed Ali was picked up for
interrogation who disclosed that he is a cab driver and some other cab driver had borrowed
his mobile phone. On sustained interrogation, he revealed that the cab drivers name was
Rashid and that Rashid had gone to his native town Meerut. A Police team was
immediately sent to Parikshat Garh, Meerut (U.P.) where Rashid was traced after
painstaking efforts. The local villagers were taken into confidence and with their
assistance Rashid was nabbed from his hideout.

Rashid initially tried to deceive the police team but on thorough interrogation he spilled the
beans and disclosed that he had earlier also stolen a vehicle in the year 2007 from the area
of PS Lajpat Nagar and is facing trial in the Court. On enquiries, a case vide FIR
No.151/07 u/s 186,353,307,411 IPC and 25/54/59 Arms Act is registered against Rashid at
PS Lajpat Nagar. The returns were encouraging which lured Rashid to try his luck again.
This time he befriended another cab driver Sandeep and revealed his desire to steal and sell
a vehicle. When Sandeep agreed to be his partner in the crime they first tried to steal
Deepak's car by making a duplicate key, but they could not succeed. Since both, Rashid
and Sandeep had already decided to sell the Wagon-R car to a third person, they constantly,
kept a watch on the movement of Deepak to find an opportune moment to steal his car but
such a moment did not come as quickly as they had anticipated. As a result they became
desperate and planned to eliminate Deepak and sell his car to one Mukesh with whom
Rashid had already settled the deal for Rs. 40,000- . Accordingly they conspired to invite
Deepak for food and (Biryani) drinks and when he got properly intoxicated they would
eliminate him. On the night intervening 4/5.7.2011, they finally succeeded in their plan and
called Deepak to Ashok Vihar, Phase-III, Gurgaon at an isolated place and started drinking
by the roadside. When Deepak became fully intoxicated, they pulled him out of the vehicle
in which they were drinking hit him on his with a “Wheel Spanner” repeatedly till Deepak
was bleeding profusely became unconscious. They clubbed him till they were absolutely

On receipt of the PCR call on 13.7.201 at about 6.10 AM, the local police from PS Delhi
Cantt. reached the spot and found the unidentified dead body. The face of the deceased
was brutally smashed with a heavy object. There were no clothes on the dead body
except briefs and vest. To ascertain the motive and apprehend the culprit, a special team
under the supervision of Shri J.L Meena, ACP/Delhi Cantt., Inspr. Rajender Meena,
Inspr. Inv. PS Delhi Cantt., Sub Inspr Satish Kumar I/c PP Subroto Park, PSI Satya
Prakash, HC Ram Partap and Ct Himmat was constituted to begin the investigations on
war footing basis. The team, while inspecting the site of crime found a big blood stained
stone near the dead body. On further search, the clothes (one pant with belt and shirt)
presumed to be of the deceased were found hidden in bushes about 200 yards away from
the dead body. A piece of paper was also found in the heavy grass a few yards away from
the dead body. Some mobile number were written on the slip, when contacted on those
mobile numbers, one mobile number happened to belonged to some one known to the
deceased at Fatehpur (U.P.). He revealed that his cousin who lives in Mahipalpur area is
missing. On further investigations, the residence of the deceased was traced in
Mahipalpur, New Delhi. The wife of the deceased Smt. Rani revealed that her husband
Guddu is missing from the night of 12.7.2011 and she is not able to contact him since
then. She also identified the dead body of her husband. Strangely, although her
husband was missing, Rani did not lodge any missing report in this regard in any Police
Station. This raised a strong suspicion in the minds of the police team and they zeroed
on Rani for interrogations.
INTERROGATION/ENQUIRIES
Upon interrogation, Rani first she tried to show her innocence and pretended
before the police team that she had very cordial relations with her husband and that
there was no issue between them. She did not even disclose any enmity with anybody
which could have led to the culprit of the murder of her husband. However, the
statements given by Rani, did not inspire confidence. She was subjected to further
interrogation. Rani broke down and revealed that she is in love with another person
namely Manoj living close to her house in Mahipalpur and that Manoj had murdered her
husband Guddu on 12.7.2011. The police team immediately swung into action and
raided the residence of Manoj in Mahipalpur, New Delhi. However, he was found
absconding from his house. Thereafter, the police team contacted the firm where Manoj
was working as a Driver but it was found that he was not coming to the office. The police
team then started a massive hunt to trace Manoj at possible hide-outs but no concrete
information could be collected in this regard. Policemen in plain clothes were deployed in
and around the Mahipalpur area and finally, Manoj was nabbed at Mahipalpur Chowk
while he was waiting for a bus.
After detailed interrogation, Manoj revealed that he was having illicit
relations with and Rani for the last 5 to 6 months. They belonged to the same District in
U.P. Manoj had also helped Rani in getting a job sometime back but she left the job after
15/20 days. During this period Manoj came very close to Rani. He had also developed
physical relations with Rani. Rani had complained several times befiore Manoj that
Guddu is an alcoholic and that he use to beat her on trivial issues. The age gap between
the husband and wife was also huge due to which Rani was also attracted towards
Manoj. Both of them even planned to marry but Rani had told Manoj that she could not
marry him as she already had a husband. But with passage of time, they became
desperate and finally decided to get rid of Guddu by killing him. On 12.7.2011 in the
evening, Manoj came to Rani‟s house where both Guddu and Manoj consumed liquor. By
about 10 PM, when Guddu had become properly intoxicated, Manoj took Guddu for a
walk towards Domestic Airport side. Manoj then led Guddu to an isolated place in the
forest area near below the overhead Metro line and attacked Guddu. During the scuffle,
Guddu fell down and Manoj taking advantage of the drunken condition of Guddu, picked
up a big stone and struck it on Guddu‟s face which cracked open up his skull killing him
instantly. After the brutal murder, Manoj took out the pant and shirt of Guddu so that
his identity could not be revealed and hid the clothes in thick bushes about 200 yards
away from the body. After committing the crime, Manoj went back to Rani and told her
that he has accomplished the task of murdering Guddu. Thereafter, he slept with Rani
on that night. Next morning i.e. on 13.7.2011, at about 5 AM, Manoj took Rani to the
spot and showed her the dead body to convince her and confirm that Guddu is dead.
Upon returning home, they both took a vow that henceforth they would live like husband
and wife. Manoj then appliked „sindoor‟ on Rani‟s head to prove that they are now
husband and wife.
The small slip of paper lying near the dead body having mobile number of the
relatives/friends of the deceased which probably fell out of the pant/shirt pocket of the
deceased led to the identification of the deceased. The police team with their continuous
vigorous efforts were able to crack the blind murder case and arrest the accused.
Further, investigations are being conducted by the local police.

The staff of PS Kapas Hera, South West Distt. has arrested two
dreaded burglars who used to target farm houses inhabited by the

On the early hours of 25.4.2011, an information regarding
burglary at Chaudhry Farm house, Kapas Hera Estate was received

to a foreign mission in which an attaché (consular affairs) alongwith
her husband and other employees etc. were residing. Inspection of
scene of crime did not indicate any forceful entry but the house was
totally ransacked. On further minute inspection of scene of occurrence
it was observed that only those items were stolen which were easy to be
sold in the market. Upon this a case was registered at Police Station

due to constant police presence and pressure the accused have fled
back to Delhi with stolen articles to dispose the same as chances of their

PS Dabri and investigation was taken up.
INFORMATION AND OPERATION
On registration of this case, police swung into action. During investigation,
on minute scrutiny of the evidence found at the scene of crime, it was revealed that
the chappals found at the scene of crime did not belong to the deceased and tiny
droplets of dried paint was found on the chappals. Working on this clue, the
investigating teams started collecting information about such persons who were
working as painters and had left the area after the incident. During this exercise,
several painters were interrogated and examined at length. During their
interrogation, it was learnt that three painters who were working with deceased in
the same J.K. Art shop had stopped coming for work and had also left there
present accommodation without notice. This turned out to be a vital piece of
information and brought the three persons under the category of suspects.
In order to pursue the above clues/leads, three teams of PS Dabri one led
by Inspr. Satbir Singh, other led by Inspr. Parveen Kumar and the third led by SI
Sitaram, were constituted. The team led by SI Sitaram was dispatched to Bihar as

pointed towards the probability of the remaining two suspects having fled to
Amritsar, Punjab. Accordingly, a team led by Inspr. Parveen was dispatched to
Amritsar.
Later, an input was received from sources deployed in the area that the
suspects were tired of being on the run, would meet in Delhi and proceed to an

was at the funeral of his ‘Tai’ (Badi Maa). The above facts were verified and found
incorrect. However, during further interrogation, he confessed to have murdered
his landlord Sunil. He further disclosed that he was a tenant of deceased Sunil for
more than one and a half year. Around two months ago, he vacated the room and
at that time Sunil had to pay him Rs200/-. When Sunil refused to pay the same,
hot words were exchanged but somehow he had taken a trolley & a table from his
house, in lieu of the above amount. This issue resulted in strained relations
between them. On the day of incident, the same issue was raised by him once
again but Sunil refused to budge and instead of clearing his outstanding dues, he
kicked Rahul in his stomach. Rahul felt hurt and insulted. He swore to take
revenge. Moving swiftly, he persuaded his two friends working in the same paint
shop to join him in this plan. The JCL brought his brother’s m/cycle while the other
two arranged for a knife and a screw driver. Once it was dark, the three set out in
search of the victim. Rahul was desperate to take revenge. For the next two-three
hours they looked for Sunil in the entire neighbourhood in a frenzied state. Finally,
they spotted Sunil in a secluded gali behind his house in Sita puri, Dabri and
pounced on him. Without any warning, Sunil was stabbed several times with the
knife and screw driver by the assailants. Leaving him to die, they fled from the
spot. However, during the scuffle, one of the accused left behind his chappals on
the spot in a hurry. While fleeing from the spot, accused Rahul realized that his
shirt was drenched with the blood of the victim. He took off his shirt and threw it in
a drain on the way alongwith the weapons of offence. The blood stained shirt has

namely Bimla (65 yrs) from her house i.e RZG – 26 Dev Kunj, Palam Colony.
The Society had also alleged that one Mukesh, who was a tenant in the house
of the missing lady, is also not traceable. This fact was brought to the
knowledge of the Society by the local residents when one K.C Tyagi,
accompanied by some people, came at the house of the missing lady claiming
to have purchased this property. Upon the complaint a preliminary enquiry
was conducted and a case was registered under relevant sections of law at
Police Station Palam Village and investigation was taken up.

Kumar(IO of the case), SI Chandan Kumar, Ct. Ram Niwas, Ct. Suraj bhan
under the supervision of Sh. R.N Kaushik, ACP/Dabri , was constituted.
During investigation, the police team found that the house situated at A-
26, Dev Kunj , Palam Colony belonged to Bimla Devi aged 65 yrs. It was
also found that Bimla Devi didn‟t have any legal heir. Further
investigation revealed that one Mukesh Kumar was living in the said
house as a tenant and was also missing from the day the lady Bimla went
missing. This raised suspicion about the character and antecedents of
Mukesh. The investigating team went about gathering more information
about the land lady Bimla and the tenant in an exhaustive manner.
Thereafter a massive manhunt was launched for tracing Mukesh Rai. Teams
were sent to different possible hideouts of the suspect in Bihar, Rajasthan,
Haryana, Himachal and different part of Delhi. Finally the suspect was
apprehended from New Delhi Railway Station on a tip off from respectable of
the native village of the suspect.
INTERROGATION AND MODUS OPERANDI
The suspect Mukesh was subjected to interrogation wherein initially he did
not disclose anything about the disappearance of Bimla. However after

Kumar and one Sourab. Suspect Mukesh further revealed that he was living in
the house adjacent to that of Bimla. Finding her alone, he shifted in her house
as a tenant and started looking after her with the motive to get her property
transferred in his name. He discussed his plan with one Kishore kumar, who
is running a Kiryana Shop in the same locality. Kishore Kumar introduced
Mukesh to one Neeraj Tyagi who is also running a Kirana and Water Supply
Shop in Raj Nagar. Neeraj and Kishore took Mukesh to one Sourab , a bank
loan/finance agent. All the four suspects held a meeting at Neeraj Tyagi‟s
house where Sourav gave Rs. 5000/- to Mukesh and asked him to look after
Bimla properly and to take her in confidence. Sourab also asked Mukesh to
obtain the original documents related to property of Bimla somehow. He
promised Mukesh that he would get these documents transferred in the name
of Mukesh. Once it was done, they planned to eliminate Bimla. It was further
planned that subsequently the property would be transferred in the name of
Neeraj Tyagi, who would arrange to sell the property at a lucrative price and
the proceeds thereof would be distributed among the conspirators, Mukesh
would get the largest part of the booty. As per plan Mukesh won the
confidence of Bimla and when she denied about the documents he stole the
same alongwith a photo, from her house in her absence. He handed over the
documents and a photo to Sourab in the house of Neeraj. Thereafter, as
planned, Mukesh met Sourab & Neeraj on 16/11/10 at the office of Sub-
Registrar Kapashera. Neeraj also brought a fake lady resembling Bimla in his
car DL-4CAL 0731 and got the property transferred with the help of Sourab.
On 25/11/2010, at about 9.00PM, as per plan, Neeraj and Sourab entered in
the house of Bimla, on getting signal from Mukesh, where she was
overpowered by the trio and strangulated with a piece of electric wire by
Mukesh. They stuffed the body of Bimla in a plastic bag and put the dead
body in a car No. DL-4CAL 0731 of Sourab which was having black tinted
glasses. Sourab had also brought some empty bags in the car , which were
used to hide the body. The trio also called Kishore Kumar near Dada Dev
Mandir and Sourab drove the Vehicle towards Jaipur Highway. On the way
Kishore Kumar was told that the deabbody of Bimla has kept in a bag behind
the driver‟s seat in this car and they are on the way to dispose off the same at a
distant place. When they reached at Bilaspur(Gurgaon), Sourab drove the
vehicle on a secluded road leading towards Tauwaru. After driving for about
five to seven minutes they dumped the body near a Culvert and also put empty
bags on it. Thereafter Sourab provided a large bottle of patrol to Mukesh and
asked him to douse the deadbody with patrol and set it on fire. When the
body caught fire they left the spot in the same vehicle and arrived back at their
respective places in Raj Nagar. After several days the accused assemble near
the victim‟s house alongwith the prospective buyer to show the property to
him. This is when the local resident got suspicious and informed the
complainant party who reported the matter to the local police .

was flashed to all concerned about the tracing of minor child.
On 10/02/2011 a PCR call was received in PS Najafgarh about a dead body of a
child lying in Najafgarh drain near Kakrola village. Subsequently the dead body was
identified as that of the kidnapped child Rahul. The body was taken out and shifted to RTR

whom he has taken loans for his business and they were demanding their money back. He
further told the police that these friends were also threatening him. Immediately police
called all his friends and interrogated them. However, nothing suspicious was found about
their movements on the day of incident. The place where the body was found was revisited
by the police team. It was observed that the manner in which the body was dumped, it was
not easy for someone to locate the body so easily. The friends of the accused who have
found the body first were again thoroughly interrogated wherein they told that they were
searching for the body as directed by the accused. In the mean time information was also
collected that the accused, the father of the deceased, was under debt as he has suffered

money back. He even thought of extorting more money from them on this pretext. He was
also having in the mind that this incident will gain sympathy for him from his parents in the
village and they may start supporting him in his financial matters as there is sufficient land
in the village with his father. On the day of incident when his wife has gone out to buy
vegetables, he took the plea of going to attend one marriage and left the house in front of
his wife. But instead of going to marriage he came back and took his son on his motorcycle
and went near to Najafgarh drain Kakrolla village. He strangulated him and threw the dead
body in the drain. As he returned to his house and got to know about the missing of his son
from his wife, he started a search for him. He even came to police station for lodging his

dumped, he took his friends next day to that side and asked them to search for the
kidnapped child in that direction. Accused has been arrested in this case and motorcycle

to the kidnapping of the child i.e on 20.01.2011, a PCR call was received in the Police
Station Palam that one Vikas @ Bhagoo s/o Tara Chand r/o Palam Village is involved in a
shoot out case at Ramphal Chowk in Dwarka. When Vikas was traced and interrogated at
length, the PCR call was found to be a hoax. However, it was observed that the said Vikas
is the real uncle of the missing/kidnapped child. The PCO owner from where the call was
made, was also examined in detail wherein he has told that the caller was not from the
locality and appeared an outsider. The family members did not raise any suspicion about
any individual involved in his kidnapping. During local enquiries, it was also learnt that

this case. In the meantime, the child could tell that he was taken away by his uncle
Karambir on the day of incident i.e. 21.01.2011 on his motor cycle. Motor Cycle used in
the crime has been recovered.
During interrogation accused Karambir disclosed that he was attracted towards his
sister-in-law. When he came to know that the family members are looking for a match for
her marriage and some persons were supposed to visit her house on 23.01.2011, he made a
plan to implicate her brother Vikas in a false case so that the visit for marriage proposal
gets postponed. He made false PCR call involving Vikas, his brother-in-law but local
police after verification found the call hoax so his plan got spoiled. Next day i.e.
21.01.2011, he again made a plan to kidnap the son of his brother-in-law in an attempt to
get the visit postponed. He came to their house and took the child on his motorcycle on the
pretext of getting him a puppy. He kidnapped the child and kept him in jhuggi at Mangol
Puri. In the early morning of 22.01.2011, he took the child to railway crossing near his
house in Mangolpuri and pushed him in front of running train with the intention to kill him.
He wanted to show it as an incident of train accident so that nobody suspects any foul play
in this matter. Thereafter he ran away from the spot presuming him to be dead. After
receiving information about the injured child, CAT Ambulance shifted him to hospital and
at present he is being treated at Safdarjung Hospital where his right hand had to be
amputated to save his life.
