Sebewaing. In 1907 he moved to Pigeon and resided until about 6
weeks ago, when they moved to Detroit.

Comments: He was killed instantly at 2:30 a.m. Thursday. When he
was driving east, he hit the west end of a cement abutment on the
Pigeon River bridge on M142, west of Pigeon. Fifteen minutes later a
car, driven by Aaron Blakely, 47, of Pigeon, returning from work at the
Sheet Metal Plant in Caseville, struck Maxwell. It wrecked his car,
which he shoved Maxwell's car 27 feet to the west. The accident was
reported by John Swartzendruber, who managed the Harry Leslie farm.
John did not investigate until the second crash. Maxwell died of a skull
fracture & internal injuries. Blakely was uninjured. Dale was a veteran
of WW2. He was in the Navy from Oct. 10, 1943 to May 18, 1946.
There was a military escort. He was an employee of S. T. & H Oil Co.
He lived in Pigeon.

discontinued the grocery store. Until his death he devoted much
attention to his hardware store. He served as the Twp. Clerk from
1896-1908, Village Clerk from 1905-1906. He was on the Village
Council.

small boat. He fell out and drowned. His body has not yet been found,
100 yds. west of Sand Co. at Port Crescent. After searching 12 days

Murray was the first Democrat to hold a County office in 36 years.
Undersheriff John Graham will be now acting as sheriff until an
appointment is made. Mrs. Murray made undersheriff, and keeps her
husband’s salary for the balance of the term. Graham was appointed
Sheriff by Judge Braun.
