ABRAHAM
Characteristics of Abraham
And remember that Abraham was
tried by his Lord with certain َ َٚ َث َِ
ٍوِبر اثَِزًَِ بِِثشَاُِْٛ سُّ ُ ثٌَِِٔبد
commands, which he fulfilled: he
said: "I will make thee an Imam to ِِ٘ ُِ ِٗ ُٖ َٔ
ِكَإَر َّه َّ هَبٍَ بٍّْ خَبػِيَ ُ َّبط
the Nations." He pleaded: "And
also (Imams) from my offspring!"
He answered: "But My Promise is
ٍ َّْ ر
ُ بَِٓبّٓب هَبٍَ وَِٖٓ ُسَّزٍِ هَبٍَ الَ ََ٘ب
not within the reach of evil-doers."
(2-124)
ِذ ظ
َػَه ٌِ اُ َّبُِِٔني
For Abraham was, without doubt,
forbearing (of faults), ْ ُُِّ٘ ْ ب َّ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ َُحَُِِ ْ ؤ َّا
ْ َو ٙ ٓ ت ِٕ
compassionate, and given to look
to Allah. (11-75)
Abraham was indeed a model,
devoutly obedient to Allah, (and) ِ ُٓ ِٕ
ب َّ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ ًَبَٕ ؤ َّخً هَبِٗزّب ُِِّٚ حَُِ٘لًب
true in faith, and he joined not gods
with Allah. (16-120) ُِ ِي
َوََُِْ َ ُ َٖٓ أُْششًِِني
He showed his gratitude for the
favours of Allah, Who chose him, ٙ َذ ُ ُ ِ
ًَُِشَبًشّا ِّإَِٗؼِِٔٚ اخِزَجَبُٙ وَٛ َا ُ ب
and guided him to a Straight Way.

ُّ ِ
ٍُِْصشَاغٍ ٓغِزَو
So We have taught thee the
inspired (message), "Follow the ِِ ِ ار ُْ
َُِْٛث َّ ؤَوِحََُِ٘ب بَُُِِيَ ؤَٕ َِّجغِ َّٓخَ بِِثشَا
ways of Abraham the True in Faith,
and he joined not gods with Allah." ِ ِ
َحَُِ٘لًب وََٓب ًَبَٕ َٖٓ أُُْششًِِني
(16-123)
Superiority of Abraham
And who turns away from the
religion of Abraham but such as ال ِّْ ت
َٖٓ َّ ِوََٖٓ َشِؿَ ُ ػَٖ َّٓخِ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ ب
debase their souls with folly? Him
We chose and rendered pure in ِ َِ ْ
ٍِعَلَِٚ َٗلغَُٚ وََُوذ اصطَلََُِ٘بُٙ ك
this world: and he will be in the
Hereafter in the ranks of the
Righteous. (2-130)
ِ ِ َِٗ اُذ
ََُٖٔ َُُِِّٗب وبَُّٚ كٍِ اِخشَح
اُص
ََّبُِحِني
Behold! his Lord said to him: "Bow
(thy will to Me):" he said: "I bow ُ ِِِٔبرْ هَبٍَ َُٚ سُّ ُ ؤَعِِِْ هَبٍَ ؤَع
َِ ذ ُٚ َث
(my will) to the Lord and Cherisher
of the Universe." (2-131) َة

Who can be better in religion than
one who submits his whole self to ٚ َِ َّ ٓ َٖ
ُ َوَِٖٓ ؤَحِغ ُ دَِّ٘ب ِّْٖٔ ؤَعَِْ وَخِه َ
Allah, does good, and follows the
way of Abraham the true in faith? ِِ ٛ ٓ ِ ِٖ وار
َُِْٛهلل وَ ُىَ ُحغ ْ ََّجغَ َّٓخَ بِِثشَا
For Allah did take Abraham for a
friend. (4-125) َ ِٚ َ َار
ًحَُِ٘لًب و َّخزَ اُّ ُ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ خُِِال
That was the reasoning about Us,
which We gave to Abraham (to َ ْ ُدز
ًَِوَِرِيَ ح ََُّ٘ب آرََُِ٘بَٛب بِِثشَاَُِْٛ ػ
use) against his people: We raise
whom We will, degree after َّ هَىِِِٓٚ َٗشِك ُ دسَخَبدٍ َّٖ َّٗشَبء ب
ِٕ ٓ َ َغ
degree: for thy Lord is full of
wisdom and knowledge. (6-83) ْ ُِِسَثيَ حٌَُِ ْ ػ
َْ ْ َّ
We gave him Isaac and Jacob: all
(three) We guided: and before him, و ًال ٚ
ًّ ُ َوَوََٛجَِ٘ب َُ ُ بِعِحَبمَ وََؼِ ُىة
We guided Noah, and among his
progeny, David, Solomon, Job, َ ٗ
َِٖٓٛذَََِ٘ب وَُىحّب ٛذَََِ٘ب ِٖٓ هَِجَُ وَ
Joseph, Moses and Aaron: thus do
We reward those who do good:
(6-84)
َََ ر َّْ و ع
َُسَّزِِٚ دَا ُودَ وَ ََُُِِٔبَٕ وؤُّىة
َ س ع
َوََُى ُقَ وَُٓىعًَ وََٛب ُوَٕ وًَزَُِي
ِ ٔ ِض
ََٗد ٌِ اُْ ُحغِِ٘ني
Say: "Verily, my Lord hath guided
me to a Way that is straight, a َث َ ِٗ ُ
ٍهَْ بٍَِّ٘ ٛذَاٍِٗ سٍّْ بًَُِ صِشَاغ

religion of right, the Path (trod) by
Abraham the true in faith, and he ِّْ ُّ
ٓغِزَوٍُِْ دَِّ٘ب هَُِّٔب َّٓخَ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ حَُِ٘لًب
(certainly) joined not gods with
Allah." (6-161) ُِ ِ
َوََٓب ًَبَٕ َٖٓ أُْششًِِني
And Abraham prayed for his
father's forgiveness only because ال س
َّ ِوََٓب ًَبَٕ اعِزِـِلَب ُ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ ُِإَثُِِٚ ب
of a promise he had made to him.
But when it became clear to him ٚ َّ ََٔ َِ ِ ٓ
ُ َُ ََُٖػَٖ َّىِػذَحٍ وَػَذََٛب بَّبُٙ كِ َّب رَج
that he was an enemy to Allah, he
dissociated himself from him: for
Abraham was most tender-
ِٕ ٚ َّ ِ َٗٚ َ ُو
َُِْٛؤَّ ُ ػذ ّّ ُِِّٚ رَجَشؤَ ِِٓ٘ ُ ب َّ بِِثشَا
hearted, forbearing. (9-114)
ْ َُِِّا ْ ح
ْ َ ٙ ألو
They said: "Dost thou wonder at
Allah's decree? The grace of Allah ِِ ِ ِ ذ
ُ َٔهَبُىاْ ؤَرَؼِدَجِنيَ ِِٖٓ ؤَٓش اُِّٚ سَح ُ
and His blessings on you, O ye
people of the house! for He is ِٚٗ ِ ُ َ ٚر ِ
ُ َّاُِّٚ وََثشًََبُ ُ ػٌَُِِِْ ؤَََٛ اُْجَُِذِ ب
indeed worthy of all praise, full of
all glory!" (11-73) َ ذٓ ذ
ْ ُِحُِٔ ْ َّد
"Thus will thy Lord choose thee
and teach thee the interpretation of ُ ِّ َ ُّ َ
َوًَزَُِيَ َدِزَجُِي سَثيَ وَُؼَِٔي َ
stories (and events) and perfect
His favour to thee and to the ٚ ِ َْ
ُ َِٖٓ رَإْوََِِ األَحَبدَِثِ وَُزِ ُّ ِٗؼَٔز
posterity of Jacob, even as He
perfected it to thy fathers Abraham
and Isaac aforetime! for thy Lord is
َٔ َ و َ
ػَُِِيَ وَػًَِ آٍِ َؼِ ُىةَ ًَٔب ؤَر َّهَب َ
full of knowledge and wisdom."

َُِْٛػًَِ ؤَثَىََِيَ ِٖٓ هَِج ُ بِِثشَا
ْ ْ َ َّ َّ
ْ ٌَُِوبِعِحَبمَ بِٕ سَثيَ ػُِِ ْ ح َ
Abraham was indeed a model,

And We gave him Good in this
world, and he will be, in the َِٗ َ ْذ و
ٍَِآرََُِ٘بُٙ كٍِ اُ َُُِّٗب حغََ٘خً وبَُّٚ ك
Hereafter, in the ranks of the
Righteous. (16-122) ِ ِ اُص
َاِخشَحِ ََُٖٔ َّبُِحِني
So We have taught thee the
inspired (message), "Follow the ِِ ِ ار ُْ
َُِْٛث َّ ؤَوِحََُِ٘ب بَُُِِيَ ؤَٕ َِّجغِ َّٓخَ بِِثشَا
ways of Abraham the True in Faith,
and he joined not gods with Allah." ِ ِ
َحَُِ٘لًب وََٓب ًَبَٕ َٖٓ أُُْششًِِني

(Also) mention in the Book (the
story of) Abraham: he was a man ِٚٗ ُ و

of truth: a prophet. (19-41)

ص َّْوًب َّجِّب
Abraham said: "Peace be on thee:
I will pray to my Lord for thy ِش َ َث َ ّ َ
ٍّْهَبٍَ عَِب ْ ػَُِِيَ عَإَعِزَـِل ُ َُي س
forgiveness: for He is to me Most
Gracious. (19-47) ُِ ِٗ
بَُّٚ ًَبَٕ ثٍِ حَلِّب
We bestowed aforetime on
Abraham his rectitude of conduct, َ ِٙ َ َِ
ُ ِوََُوذ آرََُِ٘ب بِِثشَاُِْٛ سُشذَ ُ ِٖٓ هَج
and well were We acquainted with
him. (21-51) ُ٘
َوًََّب ثِٚ ػَبُِِٔني
"O my Lord! bestow wisdom on
me, and join me with the righteous; َ ْح َة
ٍِْ٘س ّْ َٛتِ ٍُِ ٌُّٔب وؤَُْحِو
(26-83)
ِبُص
َث َّبُِحِني
"Grant me honourable mention on
the tongue of truth among the ِ َ ُ
ٍِوَاخِؼََ ٍِّ ُِغَبٕ صذِمٍ ك
latest (generations); (26-84)
ِ
ََِٖاُْأخش
"Make me one of the inheritors of
the Garden of Bliss; (26-85) َُ٘ َ٘ ِ ا َ
ُِِْوَاخِؼٍِِْ٘ ِٖٓ وسَثَخِ خَّخ َّؼ

And we gave (Abraham) Isaac and
Jacob, and ordained among his َ و ٚ
وَوََٛجَِ٘ب َُ ُ بِعِحَبمَ وََؼِ ُىةَ وَخَؼَِْ٘ب
progeny Prophethood and
Revelation, and We granted him ُ كٍِ ر َّْزِٚ ُّج َّحَ وَاٌُِْزَبةَ َآرََُِ٘ب
ٙ و ُسَّ ِ اُُ٘ى
his reward in this life; and he was
in the Hereafter (of the company)
of the Righteous. (29-27)
ِ َِٗ اُذ
ِؤَخشَُٙ كٍِ َُُِّٗب وبَُّٚ كٍِ اُْأخشَح ِ
ِ اُص
َََُٖٔ َّبُِحِني
Behold, he approached his Lord
with a sound heart. (37-84) َ َ َٚث
ٍُِِِْبرْ خَبء سَّ ُ ثِوِْتٍ ع
Then did he cast a glance at the
Stars, (37-88) اُ٘د َ
ِّكََ٘ظشَ َٗظْشَحً كٍِ ُّ ُى
We called out to him, "O Abraham!
(37-104) ْ ٙ
ُ ُِٛوََٗبدَََِ٘ب ُ ؤَْٕ ََب بِثِشَا
"Thou hast already fulfilled the
vision!" thus indeed do We reward َ ِٗ َ ِ َذ َ اُش
َهذ ص َّهْذ ُّئََِب بَّب ًزَُِي
those who do right. (37-105)
ِ ٔ ِض
ََٗد ٌِ اُْ ُحغِِ٘ني
And We left (this blessing) for him
among generations (to come) in ِ َ
ََِٖوََرشًََْ٘ب ػَُِِِٚ كٍِ اُْأخش
later times: (37-108)

"Peace and salutation to
Abraham!" (37-109) َ ّ َ
َُِْٛعَِب ْ ػًَِ بِثِشَا
Thus indeed do We reward those
who do right (37-110) ِٔ ِ َ
ًَزَُِيَ َٗدضٌِ اُْ ُحغِِ٘ني
For he was one of Our believing
Servants. (37-111) ٔ ِ ِٚٗ
َبَّ ُ ِٖٓ ػِجَبدَِٗب اُْ ُآِِِ٘ني
We blessed him and Isaac: but of
their progeny are (some) that do َ
َِٖٓوَثَبسًََْ٘ب ػَُِِِٚ وَػًََِ بِعِحَبمَ و
right, and (some) that obviously do
wrong, to their own souls. (37-113) ْ ُِسَّزِهَٔب ُحغ ْ وَظَبُِ ْ َِّ٘لغِِٚ ُج
ر َّْ ِ ٓ ِ ِٖ ْ ُ ْ ٓ ني
And commemorate Our Servants
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, َ ُ و
ََارًْشِ ػِجَبدََٗب بِثشَاَُِْٛ وبِعِحَبم
possessors of Power and Vision.
(38-45) و ؤ
ِوََؼِ ُىةَ ُوٍُِِ اُْإََِذٌِ وَاُْإَثِصَبس
Verily We did choose them for a
special (purpose), proclaiming the ْ ٛ ِ ِٗ
بَّب ؤَخَِصَِ٘ب ُْ ثِخَبُِصَخٍ رًِشَي
Message of the Hereafter. (38-46)
اُذ
َِّاس

They were, in our sight, truly, of the
company of the Elect and the ِ ٔ ُ َِٗ
ََُِٖوبَّهِْ ػِ٘ذََٗب ََُِٖٔ اُْ ُصطَل
Good. (38-47)
ِاُْإَخَُِبس
And he left it as a Word to endure
among those who came after him, ُ َِ َ َ
ِْوَخَؼَِهَب ًَِٔخً ثَبهَُِخً كٍِ ػَوِجِِٚ َُؼَّه
that they may turn back (to Allah).
(43-28) ؼ
ََٕشِخِ ُى
And of Abraham who fulfilled his
engagements, (53-37) ك ُا َ
ًََّوبِِثشَاَُِْٛ َّزٌِ و
And We sent Noah and Abraham,
and established in their line َ َ ٗ َ َ
وََُوذِ َؤسِعَِْ٘ب ُىحّب وبِِثشَاَُِْٛ وَخَؼَِْ٘ب
Prophethood and Revelation: and
some of them were on right َ ه ُسَّ ِ اُُ٘ى
ُْ ِِ٘ٔكٍِ ر َّْزِهَٔب ُّج َّحَ وَاٌُِْزَبةَ ك
guidance, but many of them
became rebellious transgressors.
(57-26)
و ُ ٓ ري ٓ
َُّٕهَِزذٍ وًََثِ ْ ِّْ٘هِْ كَبعِ ُى

There is for you an excellent
example (to follow) in Abraham ح َ خ ُ
ٍِهذِ ًَبَٗذِ ٌَُِْ ؤُعِىَ ٌ حغََ٘ ٌ ك َ
and those with him, when they said
to their people: "We are clear of ُ ٚ َّ
بِِثشَاَُِْٛ وَاُزََِٖ َٓؼَ ُ ِبرْ هَبُىا
you and of whatever ye worship
besides Allah: we have rejected
you, and there has arisen, between
ِٔ ُ ِٗ ِ
ُِوَىِِٓهِْ بَّب ُثشَاء ٌِِْٓ٘ وَٓ َّب
us and you, enmity and hatred
forever, unless ye believe in Allah
ُ َ ِ ِ د
ٌِِْرَؼُِج ُوَٕ ِٖٓ ُوٕ اَُِّٚ ًَلشَِٗب ث ذ
َ ٌْ
وََثذَا ثَََُِ٘٘ب وَثََُِ٘ ُ ُ اُْؼذَاوَحُ وَاُْجَـِعَبء
and Him alone": but not when
Abraham said to his father: "I will
pray for forgiveness for thee,
though I have no power (to get) ُ ٙ ِ ِ ٘ َز ر
ؤََثذّا حًَّ ُآُِِىا ثِبَُِّٚ وَحذَ ُ بَِّب
aught on thy behalf from Allah."
(They prayed): "Our Lord! In Thee
do we trust, and to Thee do we
ِٕ ِ
َهَىٍَ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ ُِإَثُِِٚ َُإَعِزَـِلشَ َّ َُي
turn in repentance: to Thee is (our)
final Goal. (60-4) ِ َِ ِي
ٍوََٓب ؤَِٓ ُ َُيَ ٖٓ اَُِّٚ ِٖٓ شٍَِء
َ َّ َ َّث
سََّ٘ب ػَُِِيَ رَىًََِْ٘ب وبَُُِِيَ ؤََٗجَِ٘ب
ري َ
ُ ِوبَُُِِيَ أَُْص
Allah's trial of Abraham
And remember that Abraham was
tried by his Lord with certain َ َٚ َث َ
ٍوِبرِ اثَِزًَِ بِِثشَاُِْٛ سُّ ُ ثٌَِِٔبد
commands, which he fulfilled: he
said: "I will make thee an Imam to ِِ٘ ُِ ِٗ ُٖ َٔ
ِكَإَر َّه َّ هَبٍَ بٍّْ خَبػِيَ ُ َّبط
the Nations." He pleaded: "And

also (Imams) from my offspring!"
He answered: "But My Promise is ٍ َّْ ر
ُ بَِٓبّٓب هَبٍَ وَِٖٓ ُسَّزٍِ هَبٍَ الَ ََ٘ب
not within the reach of evil-doers."
(2-124) ِذ ظ
َػَه ٌِ اُ َّبُِِٔني
Then, when (the son) reached (the
age of) (serious) work with him, he ِٗ ٍَث ََٔ َ ٚ اُغ
ٍّْكِ َّب َثِؾَ َٓؼَ ُ َّؼٍَِ هَبٍَ ََب ُ٘ َّ ب
said: "O my son! I see in vision that
I offer thee in sacrifice: now see ظ ُ َٗ
َِؤسَي كٍِ أََُْ٘بِّ ؤٍّْ َؤرْثَحيَ كَبٗ ُش
what is thy view!" (the son) said:
"O my father! do as thou art
commanded: thou will find me, if
َ ر َش
ُ َِٓٓبرَا َرشَي هَبٍَ ََب ؤَثَذِ اكْؼَْ َٓب ُا
Allah so wills, one practising
Patience and Constancy!" (37-102)
ِٚ ِ اُص ِذ
ََِٖعَزَد ٍُِٗ بِٕ شَبء اَُّ ُ َٖٓ َّبثِش
Abraham's preaching
And who turns away from the
religion of Abraham but such as ال ِّْ ت
َٖٓ َّ ِوََٖٓ َشِؿَ ُ ػَٖ َّٓخِ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ ب

Behold! his Lord said to him: "Bow
(thy will to Me):" he said: "I bow َِ ذ ِ ُٚ َث
ُ ِِِٔبرْ هَبٍَ َُٚ سُّ ُ ؤَعِِْ هَبٍَ ؤَع
(my will) to the Lord and Cherisher
of the Universe." (2-131) َة
َُِش ّْ اُْؼَبَُِٔني
They say: "Become Jews or
Christians if ye would be guided (to ٛ ًٗ ُ
وَهَبُىاْ ُىُىاْ ُىدّا ؤَوِ َٗصَبسَي
salvation)." Say thou: "Nay! (I
would rather) the Religion of ِ ُ ذ
رَهَِز ُواْ هَْ َثَْ َِّٓخَ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ حَُِ٘لًب
Abraham, the True, and he joined
not gods with Allah." (2-135) ُِ ِ
َوََٓب ًَبَٕ َٖٓ أُْششًِِني
Say ye: "We believe in Allah, and
the revelation given to us, and to ِؤ ِ َ٘ ُ ه
ُىُىْا آَّٓب ثِبُِّٚ وََٓب ُٗضٍَ بََُُِِ٘ب وََٓب
Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob,
and the Tribes, and that given to ِ َ
ََُُِٗضٍَ بًَُِ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ وبِعَٔبػِؤ
Moses and Jesus, and that given
to (all) Prophets from their Lord:
we make no difference between
و
وبِعِحَبمَ وََؼِ ُىةَ وَاألعِجَبغِ وََٓب َ
one and another of them: and we
bow to Allah (in Islam)." (2-136)
ؤ ػ
ٍَُِورٍَِ ُٓىعًَ وَ ُِغًَ وََٓب ُور ؤ
َّث ِ ٗ َشم
ٍَّجُّىَٕ ِٖٓ سّْهِْ الَ ُل ّْ ُ ثََُِٖ ؤَحَذ ُُِ٘ا

َِّْٕ٘هِْ وََٗح ُ َُ ُ ٓغِ ُى
Or do ye say that Abraham, Isma'il,
Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes were ِ َ ِٕ ُ و
ََُِؤَِّ رَ ُىُىَٕ ب َّ بِثِشَاَُِْٛ وبِعَٔبػ
Jews or Christians? Say: Do ye
know better than Allah? Ah! who is ٗ و
ْوبِعِحَبمَ وََؼِ ُىةَ وَاألعِجَبغَ ًَبُىا َ

more unjust than those who
conceal the testimony they have َِْ ُ
َُِّىدّا ؤَوِ َٗصَبسَي هَْ َؤؤَُٗزِْ ؤَػِ ُ ؤٛ
from Allah? But Allah is not
unmindful of what ye do! (2-140) ِٔ َْ َ ِ
ًاُُّٚ وَِٖٓ ؤَظِْ ُ ٓ َّٖ ًََزَْ شَهَبدَح
َٔ ِ ِٚ ِ ِٙ
ػِ٘ذَ ُ َٖٓ اُِّٚ وََٓب اُّ ُ ثِـَبكٍَ ػ َّب
َِ ِ
َٕرَؼُٔى
Abraham was not a Jew nor yet a
Christian; but he was true in Faith, ُِ ِش َ ْ ه
َٓب ًَبَٕ بِِثشَاُِٛ ُ َ ُىدِِّب وَالَ َٗص َاِّٗب
and bowed his will to Allah's (which
is Islam), and he joined not gods ِ ُّ
َٕوٌََُِٖ ًَبَٕ حَُِ٘لًب ٓغِّٔب وََٓب ًَب
with Allah. (3-67)
ُِ ِ
ََٖٓ أُْششًِِني
Without doubt, among men, the
nearest of kin to Abraham, are َّ ُ٘ا ِٕ
ََِٖب َّ ؤَوًَُِ َّبطِ ثِةِِثشَاَُِْٛ َُِز
those who follow him, as are also
this Prophet and those who ٘ َّ ٍُِ٘ا
َّْجَ ُىُٙ وََٛـزَا َّج ُّ وَاُزََِٖ آَُٓىا ار ؼ
believe: and Allah is the Protector
of those who have Faith. (3-68) ٔ ٍِ ِ و
ََاُُّٚ وَُ ُّ اُْ ُآِِِ٘ني
Say: "We believe in Allah, and in
what has been revealed to us and ِؤ ِ َ٘ ْ ُ
هَ آَّٓب ثِبُِّٚ وََٓب ُٗضٍَ ػَََُِِ٘ب وََٓب
what was revealed to Abraham,
Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the ِ َ
ََُُِٗضٍَ ػًََِ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ وبِعَٔبػِؤ
Tribes, and in (the Books) given to

Moses, Jesus, and the Prophets,
from their Lord: we make no و
وبِعِحَبمَ وََؼِ ُىةَ وَاألَعِجَبغِ وََٓب َ
distinction between one and
another among them, and to Allah َُُِ٘ا ػ
ِٖٓ َُٕورٍَِ ُٓىعًَ وَ ُِغًَ و َّجُّى ؤ
do we bow our will (in Islam)."
(3-84) ُٓ َ َّث ِ ٗ َشم
ِْسّْهِْ الَ ُل ّْ ُ ثََُِٖ ؤَحذٍ ِّْ٘ه
ٔ ُ ٚ ِٖ
َٕوََٗح ُ َُ ُ ٓغِِ ُى
Say: "Allah speaketh the Truth:
follow the religion of Abraham, the ِِ ُ ْ َ ِ َبر ؼ
َُِْٛهَ صذَمَ اُُّٚ ك َّجِ ُىاْ َّٓخَ بِثِشَا
sane in faith; he was not of the
Pagans." (3-95) ِ ِ
َحَُِ٘لًب وََٓب ًَبَٕ َٖٓ أُُْششًِِني
Who can be better in religion than
one who submits his whole self to ٚ َِ َّ ٓ َٖ
ُ َوَِٖٓ ؤَحِغ ُ دَِّ٘ب ِّْٖٔ ؤَعَِْ وَخِه َ
Allah, does good, and follows the
way of Abraham the true in faith? ِِ ٛ ٓ ِ ِٖ وار
َُِْٛهلل وَ ُىَ ُحغ ْ ََّجغَ َّٓخَ بِِثشَا
For Allah did take Abraham for a
friend. (4-125) َ ِٚ َ َار
ًحَُِ٘لًب و َّخزَ اُّ ُ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ خُِِال
We have sent thee inspiration, as
We sent it to Noah and the َ ِٗ
ًَُِبَّب ؤَوِحََُِ٘ب بَُُِِيَ ًَٔب ؤَوِحََُِ٘ب ب
Messengers after him: We sent
inspiration to Abraham, Isma'il, َ ِ ُُِ٘ٗ َا
ًَُُِىذٍ و َّجّْنيَ ِٖٓ ثَؼذِِٙ وؤَوِحََُِ٘ب ب
Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, to
Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and

Solomon, and to David We gave

َبِِثشَاَُِْٛ وبِعَٔبػََُِ وبِعِحَبم
َََ ػ و
َوََؼِ ُىةَ وَاألَعِجَبغِ وَ ُِغًَ وؤُّىة
و ُ س َ
وَُىُٗظَ وََٛب ُوَٕ وَعََُِِٔبَٕ َآرََُِ٘ب
و َ ث
دَا ُود صَُىسّا
Lo! Abraham said to his father
Azar: "Takest thou idols for gods? ُ وِبرْ هَبٍَ بِِثشَاُِٛ ُ ألَثُِِٚ آصسَ ؤَرَّخ
َ َز ِز ْ َ
For I see thee and thy people in
manifest error." (6-74) َ ِٗ
ٍَِؤصَِ٘بّٓب آُِهَخً بٍّْ ؤَسَاىَ وَهَىِٓيَ ك
ٓ َ
ٍظَالٍٍ ُّجِني
When the night covered him over,
he saw a star: he said: "This is my ُ ُِا َٖ ََٔ
كِ َّب خ َّ ػََُِِِٚ ََُِّ سَؤَي ًَىًَِجّب
Lord." But when it set, he said: "I
love not those that set." (6-76) َ َٔ َث
هَبٍَ َٛـزَا سٍّْ كَِ َّب ؤَكََ هَبٍَ ال
ِ ؤ ِت
َُح ُّ اِكِني
When he saw the moon rising in
splendour, he said: "This is my ََ ََٔ
كِ َّب سَؤَي اُْؤشَ ثَبصِؿًب هَبٍَ َٛـزَا
Lord." But when the moon set, he

said: "Unless my Lord guide me, I
shall surely be among those who ِ َ ََٔ َث
ٍِِٗسٍّْ كِ َّب ؤَكََ هَبٍَ َُئِٖ َُِّْ َهذ
go astray." (6-77)
َُّب ِ َٖ ً َث
َسٍّْ أل ُىٗ َّ َٖٓ اُْوَىِِّ اُع ِّني
When he saw the sun rising in
splendour, he said: "This is my اُش ََٔ
ٍَكِ َّب سَؤَي َِّٔظَ ثَبصِؿَخً هَب
Lord; this is the greatest (of all)."
But when the sun set, he said: "O َٔ َث
َِٛـزَا سٍّْ َٛـزَا ؤًََْجشُ كَِ َّب ؤَكََِذ
my people! I am indeed free from
your (guilt) of giving partners to
Allah. (6-78)
ً ِ ّْٔ ء ِٗ
َٕهَبٍَ ََب هَىِِّ بٍّْ َثشٌِ ٌ ٓ َّب رُششِ ُى
"For me, I have set my face, firmly
and truly, towards Him Who
َّ َ ِ ِٗ َّ ِذ
َبٍّْ وَخه ُ وَخهٍِ ُِِزٌِ كَطَش
created the heavens and the earth,
and never shall I give partners to
َ ٘ َّ
َِٖٓ ْاُغَٔبوَادِ وَاألَسِضَ حَُِلًب وَٓب ؤََٗب
Allah." (6-79) ِ ُ
َأُْشِشًِني
His people disputed with him. He
said: "(Come) ye to dispute with ٗر ُّى ٓ َأخ
ٍِوَح َُّٚ هَىِ ُُٚ هَبٍَ ؤَُحَبخ ٍّْ ك
me, about Allah, when He
(Himself) hath guided me? I fear ف َ َ ِ
اُِّٚ وَهذِ ٛذَإِ وَالَ ؤَخَب ُ َٓب
not (the beings) ye associate with
Allah: unless my Lord willeth,
(nothing can happen). My Lord
َث ال ًِ
ُرششِ ُىَٕ ثِِٚ بِ َّ ؤَٕ َشَبء سٍّْ شَُِئًب
comprehendeth in His knowledge

all things. Will ye not (yourselves)
be admonished? (6-80) ِْ َُ ِ َ ث
َوَعغ سٍَّْ ً َّ شٍَِءٍ ػِّٔب ؤَكَال
َّش
َٕرََززًَ ُو
"How should I fear (the beings) ye
associate with Allah, when ye fear ِ ف
َوًََُِقَ ؤَخَب ُ َٓب ؤَششًَُْزِْ وَال
not to give partners to Allah without
any warrant having been given to ِ ك َٗ ُ ِ ز
َُِْ رَخَبُىَٕ ؤٌَِّْ ؤَششًَُْْ ثِبُِّٚ َٓب
you? Which of (us) two parties
hath more right to security? (Tell
me) if ye know. (6-81)
ٌَ ُْ ُ ّْ َ
ُّ َُ٘ضٍْ ثِِٚ ػٌََُِِِْ عِطَبّٗب كَإ
ً ِ َن َ
ِْاُْلشَِوَُِِٖ ؤَح ُّ ثِبألَِٖٓ بِٕ ُُ٘ز
َِٔ
َٕرَؼِ ُى
That was the reasoning about Us,
which We gave to Abraham (to َ ْ ُدز
ًَِوَِرِيَ ح ََُّ٘ب آرََُِ٘بَٛب بِِثشَاَُِْٛ ػ
use) against his people: We raise
whom We will, degree after ِٕ ٓ َ َغ
َّ هَىِِِٓٚ َٗشِك ُ دسَخَبدٍ َّٖ َّٗشَبء ب
degree: for thy Lord is full of
wisdom and knowledge. (6-83) ْ ُِِسَثيَ حٌَُِ ْ ػ
َْ ْ َّ

Say: "Verily, my Lord hath guided
me to a Way that is straight, a َث َ ِٗ ُ
ٍهَْ بٍَِّ٘ ٛذَاٍِٗ سٍّْ بًَُِ صِشَاغ
religion of right, the Path (trod) by
Abraham the true in faith, and he ِّْ ُّ
ٓغِزَوٍُِْ دَِّ٘ب هَُِّٔب َّٓخَ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ حَُِ٘لًب
(certainly) joined not gods with
Allah." (6-161) ُِ ِ
َوََٓب ًَبَٕ َٖٓ أُْششًِِني
Remember Abraham said: "O my
Lord! make this city one of peace َ ّْ ْ
وِبرْ هَبٍَ بِِثشَاُِٛ ُ سَة اخِؼَْ َٛـزَا َ
and security: and preserve me and
my sons from worshipping idols. ٗ ٍِ ٘ َ
َاَُْجِذَ آِّٓ٘ب وَاخُِجٍِِ٘ وَثَ٘ َّ ؤَٕ َّؼُِجذ
(14-35)
َ
َّاألصَِ٘ب
"O my Lord! they have indeed led
astray many among mankind; he ُّْ٘ َ ا َِ ُٖ ِٗ َة
ِس ّْ بَّه َّ ؤَظَِِْٖ ًَثِرياً ٖٓ َّبط
then who follows my (ways) is of
me, and he that disobeys me, but َ ِ٘ ِٚٗ َ
ٍِٗكَٖٔ رَجِؼٍَِ٘ كَةَّ ُ ٍّْٓ وَِٖٓ ػَصَب
Thou art indeed Oft-Forgiving,
Most Merciful. (14-36) ْ ُِكَةِٗيَ ؿَ ُى ْ َّح
ْ َّ ل س س
"O our Lord! I have made some of
my offspring to dwell in a valley ذ ر َّْ ى ِٗ َّث
ٍسََّ٘ب بٍّْ ؤَعٌَِ٘ ُ ِٖٓ ُسَّزٍِ ثِ َاد
without cultivation, by Thy Sacred
House; in order, O our Lord, that

they may establish regular Prayer:
so fill the hearts of some among ٔ َش َ
َِّّ ؿَُِشِ رٌِ صسِعٍ ػِ٘ذَ ثَُِِزيَ اُْ ُح
men with love towards them, and
feed them with Fruits: so that they َ َث ٔ اُص
ًسََّ٘ب ُُِوُِ ُىاْ َّالَحَ كَبخِؼَْ ؤَكِْئذَح
may give thanks. (14-37)
ّْ ِ ِص ه ُّْ٘ ا
َٖٓ ُْ َْٖٓ َّبطِ رَهِىٌِ بَُُِِهِْ وَاس ُه
ُش ُ َِ َ َّ
َٕاُثٔشَادِ َُؼَّهِْ َشٌِ ُو
"O my Lord! make me one who
establishes regular Prayer, and ّْ َ ٓ اُص
َِٖٓسَة اخِؼٍِِْ٘ ُوَُِْ َّالَحِ و
also (raise such) among my
offspring O our Lord! And accept ر َّْ َث َج د
ُسَّزٍِ سََّ٘ب وَرَوََّْ ُػَبء
Thou my Prayer. (14-40)
Behold! he said to his father and
his people, "What are these َ َّ ِ َ
ُ ُِِبرْ هَبٍَ ُِإَثُِِٚ وَهَىِِِٓٚ َٓب ٛزِٙ اُزَٔبث
images, to which ye are (so
assiduously) devoted?" (21-52) ل
ََّٕزٍِ ؤَُٗزِْ َُهَب ػَبًِ ُى ُا
He said, "Indeed ye have been in
manifest error - ye and your ُ و ً َ
ٍِهَبٍَ َُوذِ ُُ٘زِْ ؤَُٗزِْ َآثَبئًُِْ ك
fathers." (21-54)

ٍظَِبٍٍ ُّجِني

He said, "Nay, your Lord is the
Lord of the heavens and the earth. ث َّث ُ َة َّ و
ِهَبٍَ ََ سٌُِّْ س ُّ اُغَٔب َاد
He Who created them (from
nothing): and I am a witness to this َ َ ُٖ َ َ َّ َ
ًَِوَاُْإسِضِ اُزٌِ كطشَٛ َّ وؤََٗب ػ
(truth). (21-56)
ٌ ّْ اُش
ََِٖرَُِ ُْ َٖٓ َّبِٛذ
"And by Allah, I have a plan for
your idols - after ye go away and ِ ٌ ٕ َُِب
َٕوَر َِّٚ َُإًَُِذَ َّ َؤصَِ٘بَٓ ُْ ثَؼذَ ؤ
turn your backs"... (21-57)
ُ َُ ر
ََُِٖىُّىا ٓذِِثش
"Fie upon you, and upon the things
that ye worship besides Allah! د ذ ُ ُ ُف
ِٕؤ ٍّ ٌَِّْ ؤََُِب رَؼُِج ُوَٕ ِٖٓ ُو
Have ye no sense?"... (21-67)
ِِ َ ُِا
ََِّٕٚ ؤَكَِب رَؼِوُى
Behold! We gave the site, to
Abraham, of the (Sacred) House, َّ َ
َٕوِبرْ ثَىؤَْٗب ُِةِِثشَاَُِْٛ ٌََٓبَٕ اُْجَُِذِ ؤ
(saying): "Associate not anything
(in worship) with Me; and sanctify ّْ ِ ُ
ٍََِّب ُرششِىِ ثٍِ شَُِئًب وَطَهشِ ثَُِز
My House for those who compass
it round, or stand up, or bow, or
prostrate themselves (therein in
َّ َاُش
ُِ َّبئِلِنيَ وَاُْوَبئِِٔنيَ و ًُّغ ِِط
prayer). (22-26)

And strive in His cause as ye ought
to strive, (with sincerity and under ٛ اُِ َن ِ
َوَخَبٛذُوا كٍِ َِّٚ ح َّ خِهَبدِِٙ ُى
discipline). He has chosen you,
and has imposed no difficulties on ُ َ َ ُ
ٍِاخِزَجَبًِْ وََٓب خَؼََ ػٌَُِِِْ ك
you in religion; it is the cult of your
father Abraham. It is He Who has
named you Muslims, both before
ُ ِّْ َ ِ اُذ
ََُِِّْْٖٛ ِٖٓ حشَجٍ َّٓخَ ؤَثٌُِِْ بِِثشَا
and in this (Revelation); that the
Messenger may be a witness for
ِ ُْ َٔ ٛ
ٍُِىَ ع َّبً ُ أُُْغِِٔنيَ ِٖٓ هَِجَُ وَك
ُ َ َ ٌ َ اُشع
ٌَُِِِْٛزَا َُُِ ُىٕ َّ ُىٍُ شَهُِذّا ػ
you, and ye be witnesses for
mankind! So establish regular
Prayer, give regular Charity, and
hold fast to Allah! He is your ٔ ُ٘ا ٌَ ش
وَرَ ُىُٗىا ُهذَاء ػًََِ َّبطِ كَإَهُِ ُىا
Protector, the best to protect and
the Best to help!
(22-78)
ِٔ َّ و ر اُض
اُصَِبحَ َآُىا ًََّبحَ وَاػِزَص ُىا
ِ ِ ُ ٛ ُِِب
َْث َِّٚ ُىَ َٓىَُِبًِْ كَِ٘ؼَْ أَُْىًَُِ وَِٗؼ
ُ َِّص
اُ٘ ري
And rehearse to them (something
of) Abraham's story. (26-69) ِ َ َو
ََُِْٛاِر ُ ػَُِِهِْ َٗجَإَ بِِثشَا
Behold, he said to his father and
his people: "What worship ye?" ذ
َِٕبرْ هَبٍَ ُِإَثُِِٚ وَهَىِِِٓٚ َٓب رَؼُِج ُو
(26-70)

They said: "We worship idols, and
we remain constantly in ََ ُ ذ
هَبُىا َٗؼُِج ُ ؤَصَِ٘بّٓب كََ٘ظ ُّ َُهَب
attendance on them." (26-71)
َػَبًِلِني
He said: "Do they listen to you
when ye call (on them), (26-72) ػ ُ َ ِؼ
َٕهَبٍَ َْٛ َغَٔ ُىٌَِْٗ ِبرْ َرذِ ُى
"Or do you good or harm?"
(26-73) ُش ُ ؼ
َٕؤَوِ ََ٘لَ ُىٌَِْٗ ؤَوِ َع ُّو
He said: "Do ye then see whom ye
have been worshipping, (26-75) ذ ً ٓ ََ ز
َٕهَبٍَ ؤَكشؤََُِْ َّب ُُ٘زِْ رَؼُِج ُو
"Who created me, and it is He Who
guides me; (26-78) ِ ه َ َّ
َِِٖاُزٌِ خَِوٍَِ٘ كَ ُىَ َهذ
"Who gives me food and drink,
(26-79) ِٔ ٛ َّ
ِوَاُزٌِ ُىَ َُطْؼ ٍُِ٘ وََغِوِني
"And when I am ill, it is He Who
cures me; (26-80) ه ِ َ
ِوِبرَا َٓشظِذُ كَ ُىَ َشِلِني

"And let me not be in disgrace on
the Day when (men) will be raised َ ث ِر
َٕوََُب ُخضٍِِٗ َىَِّ ُجِؼَُى
up; (26-87)
And (We also saved) Abraham:
behold, he said to his people, ِ ذ َ
ََُّٚوبِِثشَاَُِْٛ ِبرْ هَبٍَ ُِوَىِِِٓٚ اػُِج ُوا ا
Serve Allah and fear Him: that will
be best for you, if ye understand! ً ُ ُ َارو ٙ ُ ش
ِْو َّ ُى ُ رٌَُِِْ خَُِ ْ ٌَِّْ بِٕ ُُ٘ز
(29-16)
َِٔ
َٕرَؼِ ُى
"For ye do worship idols besides
Allah, and ye invent falsehood. The ِ ِ د ذ
بَِٗٔب رَؼُِج ُوَٕ ِٖٓ ُوٕ اَُِّٚ ؤَوِثَبّٗب َّ
things that ye worship besides
Allah have no power to give you ذ َّ ِٕ ِِو
َٕوَرَخُ ُىَٕ بِكًٌْب ب َّ اُزََِٖ رَؼُِج ُو
sustenance: then seek ye
sustenance from Allah, serve Him,
and be grateful to Him: to Him will
ِ ُ ٌِ
ِٖٓ ُوٕ اَُِّٚ َُب َِٔ ُىَٕ ٌَُِْ سصِهًبِ ِ د
be your return. (29-17)
ٙذ ّْ ِ ـ
ُ كَبثِزَ ُىا ػِ٘ذَ اَُِّٚ اُشصِمَ وَاػُِج ُو
ؼ ٚ ُش
َٕوَاشٌِ ُوا َُ ُ بَُُِِِٚ ُرشِخَ ُى

And he said: "For you, ye have
taken (for worship) idols besides ِ َّ ار ر ٓ د
َُِّٚوَهَبٍَ بَِٗٔب َّخَزُْْ ّْٖ ُوِٕ ا
Allah, out of mutual love and
regard between yourselves in this ِ اُذ ُ ٓ َد
ؤَوِثَبّٗب َّى َّحَ ثٌَُِِِْ٘ كٍِ اُْحََُبح َُُِّٗب
life; but on the Day of Judgment ye
shall disown each other and curse
each other: and your abode will be
ٌُش ع
ٍث َّ َىَِّ اُْوَُِبَٓخِ ٌَْل ُ ثَؼِ ُ ُْ ثِجَؼِطُْ
the Fire, and ye shall have none to
help." (29-25)
ُْ اُ٘ س ٌَٖ ع
ُ وََِْؼ ُ ثَؼِ ُ ُْ ثَؼِعّب وََٓإْوَاً ُ َّب
ِ ٗ ٓ ٌ
ََِٖوََٓب َُ ُْ ّْٖ َّبصش
Verily among those who followed
his Way was Abraham. (37-83) َِٕ
َُِْٛوب َّ ِٖٓ شُِؼَزِِٚ َُةِِثشَا
Behold, he said to his father and to
his people, "What is that which ye ذ
َِٕبرْ هَبٍَ ُِإَثُِِٚ وَهَىِِِٓٚ َٓبرَا رَؼُِج ُو
worship? (37-85)
"Is it a falsehood- Gods other than
Allah that ye desire? (37-86) د ِ ذ
َٕؤَئِلًٌْب آُِهَخً ُوَٕ اَُِّٚ ُرشَِ ُو
"Then what is your idea about the
Lord of the Worlds?" (37-87) َ ٌَ٘ َة
َكَٔب ظُّ ُْ ثِش ّْ اُْؼَبَُِٔني

And he said, "I am indeed sick (at
heart)!" (37-89) ْ ِٗ
ْ ُِكَوَبٍَ بٍّْ عَو
Then did he turn to their gods and
said, "Will ye not eat (Of the ُِ َ
َٕكشَاؽَ بًَُِ آُِهَزِهِِْ كَوَبٍَ ؤََُب رَإًُْى
offerings before you)?. (37-91)
"What is the matter with you that
ye speak not (intelligently)?" و ُ
ََٕٓب ٌَُِْ َُب رَ٘طِ ُى
(37-92)
Then did he turn upon them,
striking (them) with the right hand. َ ِ َ َ
ِكشَاؽَ ػَُِِهِْ ظشِثّب ثِبَُُِْٔني
(37-93)
Then came (the worshippers) with
hurried steps, and faced (him). ِك ِ
َٕكَإَهَْجُىا بَُُِِِٚ َضُّى
(37-94)
He said: "Worship ye that which ye
have (Yourselves) carved? ز ذ
َٕهَبٍَ ؤَرَؼُِج ُوَٕ َٓب رَِ٘حُِى
(37-95)

"But Allah has created you and
your handiwork!" (37-96) َِ ِ ُ َ َُِٚا
َٕو َّ ُ خَِوٌَِْ وََٓب رَؼُٔى
Behold! Abraham said to his father
and his people: "I do indeed clear ِٗ ْ َ
ٍَِّ٘وِبرْ هَبٍَ بِِثشَاُِٛ ُ ُِإَثُِِٚ وَهَىِِِٓٚ ب
myself of what ye worship!"
(43-26) ّْٔ ذ
ََٕثشَاء ٓ َّب رَؼُِج ُو
"(I worship) only Him Who made
me, and He will certainly guide ِ ِٗ َ َّ ُِ
َِِٖبَّب اُزٌِ كطَشٍَِٗ كَةَُّٚ عََُهذ
me." (43-27)
And he left it as a Word to endure
among those who came after him, ُ َِ َ َ
ِْوَخَؼَِهَب ًَِٔخً ثَبهَُِخً كٍِ ػَوِجِِٚ َُؼَّه
that they may turn back (to Allah).
(43-28) ؼ
ََٕشِخِ ُى
There is for you an excellent
example (to follow) in Abraham ح َ خ ُ
ٍِهذِ ًَبَٗذِ ٌَُِْ ؤُعِىَ ٌ حغََ٘ ٌ ك َ
and those with him, when they said
to their people: "We are clear of ُ ٚ َّ
بِِثشَاَُِْٛ وَاُزََِٖ َٓؼَ ُ ِبرْ هَبُىا
you and of whatever ye worship
besides Allah: we have rejected
you, and there has arisen, between
ِٔ ُ ِٗ ِ
ُِوَىِِٓهِْ بَّب ُثشَاء ٌِِْٓ٘ وَٓ َّب
us and you, enmity and hatred
forever, unless ye believe in Allah
ُ َ ِ ِ د ذ
ٌِِْرَؼُِج ُوَٕ ِٖٓ ُوٕ اَُِّٚ ًَلشَِٗب ث
and Him alone": but not when

Abraham said to his father: "I will
pray for forgiveness for thee, َ ٌْ
وََثذَا ثَََُِ٘٘ب وَثََُِ٘ ُ ُ اُْؼذَاوَحُ وَاُْجَـِعَبء
though I have no power (to get)
aught on thy behalf from Allah." ُ ٙ ِ ِ ٘ َز ر
ؤََثذّا حًَّ ُآُِِىا ثِبَُِّٚ وَحذَ ُ بَِّب
(They prayed): "Our Lord! In Thee
do we trust, and to Thee do we
turn in repentance: to Thee is (our)

َهَىٍَ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ ُِإَثُِِٚ َُإَعِزَـِلشَ َّ َُي

the House (with this prayer): "Our
Lord! Accept (this service) from us: َّ ِ٘ َّ َ ِ ُ َث
َوبِعَٔبػَُِ سََّ٘ب رَوَجَْ َّٓب بِٗيَ ؤَٗذ
for Thou art the All-Hearing, the
All-Knowing. (2-127) ُ ََُُِِِّٔ ُ اُْؼ

Abraham's performing the rituals of pilgrimage
"Our Lord! Make of us Muslims
bowing to Thy (Will); and of our َ
َِٖٓسََّ٘ب وَاخِؼَِْ٘ب ُٓغَُِِِِٖٔ َُيَ و َث
progeny a people Muslim, bowing
to Thy (Will); and show us our َ ُّ ُٓ َّْ ر
ُسَّزَِ٘ب ؤ َّخً ٓغَِِٔخً َُّيَ وَؤسَِٗب
places for the celebration of (due)
rites; and turn unto us (in Mercy);
for Thou art the Oft-Returning,
َّ َ
َََٓ٘بعٌََِ٘ب وَرُتِ ػََُِِ٘ب بِٗيَ ؤَٗذ
Most Merciful. (2-128)
ُ ُِاُز َّا ُ َّح
ْ َّى ة اُش
"And proclaim the Pilgrimage
among men; they will come to thee َح ُ٘ا ََر
َوؤ ِّٕ كٍِ َّبطِ ثِبُْح ّْ َإْرُىى
on foot and (mounted) on every
kind of camel, lean on account of ِ ِّ ً َ
ِٖٓ َسِخَبًُب وَػًَِ َُ ظَبٓشٍ َإْرِني

journeys through deep and distant
mountain highways; (22-27) َ َُ َح

Abraham, the Close one to Allah
Who can be better in religion than
one who submits his whole self to ٚ َِ َّ ٓ َٖ
ُ َوَِٖٓ ؤَحِغ ُ دَِّ٘ب ِّْٖٔ ؤَعَِْ وَخِه َ
Allah, does good, and follows the
way of Abraham the true in faith? ِِ ٛ ٓ ِ ِٖ وار
َُِْٛهلل وَ ُىَ ُحغ ْ ََّجغَ َّٓخَ بِِثشَا
For Allah did take Abraham for a
friend. (4-125) َ ِٚ َ َار
ًحَُِ٘لًب و َّخزَ اُّ ُ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ خُِِال
Sending down the chastisement upon Abraham's people
Hath not the story reached them of
those before them? The people of ِ َّ ِ إ
ِِّؤََُِْ َإْرِهِْ َٗجَُ اُزََِٖ ِٖٓ هَِجِهِْ هَى
Noah, and 'Ad, and Thamud; the
people of Abraham, the men of ٔ
َُُِْٛىذٍ وَػَبدٍ وََث ُىدَ وَهَىِِّ بِِثشَا ٗ
Madyan, and the Cities
overthrown. To them came their
Messengers with Clear Signs. It is
ٔ َ
ِوَؤصِحَبةِ ٓذََِٖ وَاُْ ُاِرَلٌَِبد ِ
not Allah Who wrongs them, but
they wrong their own souls. (9-70)
َ َُ ُ ِ ُِه
َٕؤَرَزِهْ سُعُ ُْ ثِبُْجَّْ٘بدِ كَٔب ًَب
ٗ ُ
ْاُّ ُ َُُِظَِْٔهِْ وََُـٌِٖ ًَبُىا ِٚ
ٔ ُ ُ
َٕؤَٗلغَهِْ َظِْ ُى

Abraham's emigration to Al Shaam
But We delivered him and (his
nephew) Lut (and directed them) to َُ ا ُ َد
ٍِوَٗ ََُِّ٘بُٙ وَُىطًب بًَُِ اُْإسِضِ َّز
the land which We have blessed
for the nations. (21-71) َثَبسًََْ٘ب كُِهَب ُِِْؼَبَُِٔني
But Lut had faith in him: he said: "I
will leave home for the sake of my ِٗ ٓ ِش َ ُٚغ
ًَُِكَأَٖٓ َُ ُ ُى ٌ وَهَبٍَ بٍّْ ُهَبخ ْ ب
Lord: for He is Exalted in Might,
and Wise." (29-26) ْ ض ٛ ِٚٗ َث
ُ ٌَُِسٍّْ بَّ ُ ُىَ اُْؼَضَِ ُ اُْح
Abraham, Hajar and Ismail
"O our Lord! I have made some of
my offspring to dwell in a valley ذ ر َّْ ى ِٗ َّث
ٍسََّ٘ب بٍّْ ؤَعٌَِ٘ ُ ِٖٓ ُسَّزٍِ ثِ َاد
without cultivation, by Thy Sacred
House; in order, O our Lord, that ٔ َش َ
َِّّ ؿَُِشِ رٌِ صسِعٍ ػِ٘ذَ ثَُِِزيَ اُْ ُح
they may establish regular Prayer:
so fill the hearts of some among
men with love towards them, and
َ َث ٔ اُص
ًسََّ٘ب ُُِوُِ ُىاْ َّالَحَ كَبخِؼَْ ؤَكِْئذَح
feed them with Fruits: so that they
may give thanks. (14-37)
ّْ ِ ِص ه
َٖٓ ُْ ْٖٓ َّبطِ رَهِىٌِ بَُُِِهِْ وَاس ُهُّْ٘ َ ا
ُش ُ َِ َ َّ
َٕاُثٔشَادِ َُؼَّهِْ َشٌِ ُو

So We gave him the good news of

Abraham witnesses the restoration of the dead to life
Behold! Abraham said: "My Lord!
Show me how Thou givest life to ْ َة
َوِبرْ هَبٍَ بِِثشَاُِٛ ُ س ّْ َؤسٍِِٗ ًَُِقَ
the dead." He said: "Dost thou not
then believe?" He said: "Yea! but ر
ُِِٖٓحُِِـٍ أَُْىِرًَ هَبٍَ ؤَوََُِْ ُا ر
to satisfy my own understanding."
He said: "Take four birds; tame
them to turn to thee; put a portion
َ ِٖ ْ ُ
ٍَهَبٍَ َثًَِ وََُـٌِٖ َُِّطَٔئ َّ هِْجٍِ هَب
of them on every hill, and call to
them; they will come to thee,
ُٖ ُ ّْ اُط ُ
َكَخزْ َؤسِثَؼَخً َٖٓ َُِّشِ كَصشِٛ َّ بَُُِِي
َّ ُْ اخِؼَْ ػًَِ ً ِّ خََجٍَ ِّْ٘ه
ُٖ ٓ َُ َ َ َّ ث
(flying) with speed. Then know that
Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise."
(2-260)

ِِِْخضِءًا ث َّ ادِ ُه َّ َإْرَُِ٘يَ عَؼُِّب وَاػ
ْ َّ ِ َ ض

Abraham's debate with the Namrud
Hast thou not turned thy vision to
one who disputed with Abraham َأج َّ
ٍِؤََُِْ َرشَ بًَُِ اُزٌِ ح َّ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ ك
about his Lord, because Allah had
granted him power? Abraham said: ْ ُ ِٚ ُ ِث
ٍَسِّْٚ ؤَْٕ آرَبٙ اُّ ُ أُِْيَ ِبرْ هَب
"My Lord is He Who giveth life and
death." He said: "I give life and
death." Said Abraham: "But it is
ذ َ ُُ َث ا
ُ ََُُِٔبِِثشَاُِْٛ سٍَّْ َّزٌِ ُحُِِـٍ و
Allah that causeth the sun to rise
from the East do thou then cause
ْ َؤ ؤ
ُ ُِٛهَبٍَ ؤََٗب ُحُِِـٍ وُُِٓذُ هَبٍَ بِِثشَا
ِ ِ َّ ِ َّ
ِكَةِٕ اَُّٚ َإْرٍِ ثِبُشِٔظِ َٖٓ أَُْششِم
him to rise from the West?" Thus
was he confounded who (in
arrogance) rejected Faith. Nor doth
Allah give guidance to a people َّ ِ ِ ج ِ
ٌِكَإدِ ثِهَب َٖٓ أَُْـشةِ كَُهِذَ اُز ْ
unjust. (2-258)
َ ظ َِ و
ًََلشَ َاُُّٚ الَ َهِذٌِ اُْوَىِّ اُ َّبُِِٔني
Abraham's calling his father to Islam
Lo! Abraham said to his father
Azar: "Takest thou idols for gods? َ َز ِز ْ َ
ُ وِبرْ هَبٍَ بِِثشَاُِٛ ُ ألَثُِِٚ آصسَ ؤَرَّخ
For I see thee and thy people in
manifest error." (6-74) َ ِٗ

Behold, he said to his father: "O

heareth not, and seeth not and can
profit thee nothing? (19-42) َ َ ِش

"O my father! to me hath come
knowledge which hath not reached ِْ ِ َ ِٗ
ََب ؤَثَذِ بٍّْ هذِ خَبءٍِٗ َٖٓ اُْؼِِْ َٓب
thee: so follow me: I will guide thee
to a Way that is even and straight. ِ ِ َبر
َُِْ َإِْريَ ك َّجِؼٍِِ٘ ؤَٛذِىَ صشَاطًب
(19-43)

عَىِّب
"O my father! serve not Satan: for
Satan is a rebel against (Allah) ِٕ اُش
َّ ََب ؤَثَذِ َُب رَؼُِجذِ َُِّطَبَٕ ب
Most Gracious. (19-44)
ُِ َ ِ ِِش
َُِّطَبَٕ ًَبَٕ ُ َّحِٖٔ ػَصِّب اُش
"O my father! I fear lest a Penalty
afflict thee from (Allah) Most َّ ٔ ف ِٗ
َََب ؤَثَذِ بٍّْ ؤَخَب ُ ؤَٕ َ َغي
Gracious, so that thou become to
Satan a friend." (19-45) ٌ َز ة ّْ َ اُش
َٕػ َا ْ ٖٓ َّحَِٖٔ كَزَ ُى

Behold, he said to his father and to
his people, "What is that which ye ذ
َِٕبرْ هَبٍَ ُِإَثُِِٚ وَهَىِِِٓٚ َٓبرَا رَؼُِج ُو
worship? (37-85)
Behold! Abraham said to his father
and his people: "I do indeed clear ِٗ ْ َ

myself of what ye worship!"

Unbelief of Abraham's father
Lo! Abraham said to his father
Azar: "Takest thou idols for gods? َ َز ِز ْ َ
ُ وِبرْ هَبٍَ بِِثشَاُِٛ ُ ألَثُِِٚ آصسَ ؤَرَّخ
For I see thee and thy people in
manifest error." (6-74) َ ِٗ
ٍَِؤصَِ٘بّٓب آُِهَخً بٍّْ َؤسَاىَ وَهَىِٓيَ ك
ٓ َ
ٍظَالٍٍ ُّجِني
(The father) replied: "Dost thou
hate my gods, O Abraham? If thou َِ ت
هَبٍَ َؤسَاؿِ ْ ؤَٗذَ ػٖ آُِهَزٍِ ََب
forbear not, I will indeed stone
thee: now get away from me for a َّ ُ َ ْ
َبِثِشاُِٛ ُ َُئِٖ َُِّْ رَ٘زَِٚ َُإسِخَٔ٘ي
good long while!" (19-46)
ُِ ُ
وَاِٛدشٍِِٗ َِِّٓب
They said: "We worship idols, and
we remain constantly in ََ ُ ذ
هَبُىا َٗؼُِج ُ ؤَصَِ٘بّٓب كََ٘ظ ُّ َُهَب
attendance on them." (26-71)
َػَبًِلِني
Abraham's asking Allah to forgive his father
And Abraham prayed for his
father's forgiveness only because ال س
َّ ِوََٓب ًَبَٕ اعِزِـِلَب ُ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ ُِإَثُِِٚ ب
of a promise he had made to him.

But when it became clear to him
that he was an enemy to Allah, he ٚ َّ ََٔ َِ ِ ٓ

dissociated himself from him: for
Abraham was most tender- ِٕ ٚ َّ ِ َٗٚ َ ُو
َُِْٛؤَّ ُ ػذ ّّ ُِِّٚ رَجَشؤَ ِِٓ٘ ُ ب َّ بِِثشَا
hearted, forbearing. (9-114)
ْ َُِِّا ْ ح
ْ َ ٙ ألو
Abraham said: "Peace be on thee:
I will pray to my Lord for thy ِش َ َث َ ّ َ
ٍّْهَبٍَ عَِب ْ ػَُِِيَ عَإَعِزَـِل ُ َُي س
forgiveness: for He is to me Most
Gracious. (19-47) ُِ ِٗ
بَُّٚ ًَبَٕ ثٍِ حَلِّب
There is for you an excellent
example (to follow) in Abraham ح َ خ ُ
ٍِهذِ ًَبَٗذِ ٌَُِْ ؤُعِىَ ٌ حغََ٘ ٌ ك َ
and those with him, when they said

بِِثشَاَُِْٛ وَاُزََِٖ َٓؼَ ُ ِبرْ هَبُىا
you and of whatever ye worship

ُِوَىِِٓهِْ بَّب ُثشَاء ٌِِْٓ٘ وَٓ َّب

Abraham's argument with his people
They said, "Art thou the one that
did this with our gods, O َ َ ُ
هَبُىا َؤؤَٗذَ كَؼِْذَ ٛزَا ثِأُِهَزَِ٘ب ََب
Abraham?" (21-62)
ْ
ُ ُِٛبِِثشَا
He said: "Nay, this was done by,
this is their biggest one! Ask them, ُ ُ َ ُ َ ري
ِْٛهَبٍَ َثَْ كَؼَُِٚ ًَجِ ُِْٛ ٛزَا كَبعِإَُى
if they can speak intelligently!"
(21-63) و ٗ
َٕبِٕ ًَبُىا ََ٘طِ ُى
Then were they confounded with
shame: (they said) "Thou knowest َ ِ ُْ ٗ ِغ َ س
ِث َّ ٌُ ُىا ػًَِ ُئُوعِهِْ َُوذ
full well that these (idols) do not
speak!" (21-65) و ا َ
َٕػِِٔذَ َٓب َٛ َُُبء ََ٘طِ ُى
(Abraham) said, "Do ye then
worship, besides Allah, things that ِ ِ د ذ
هَبٍَ ؤَكَزَؼُِج ُوَٕ ِٖٓ ُوٕ اَُِّٚ َٓب َُب
can neither be of any good to you

nor do you harm? (21-66)
ُ ُش ُؼ
ًُِّْ ََ٘لَ ٌُِْ شَُِئًب وََُب َع
Abraham's abandonment of his people
"And I will turn away from you (all)
and from those whom ye invoke ِ د ػ ُ َ
َُِّٚوؤَػَِزضٌُِِْ وََٓب رَذِ ُىَٕ ِٖٓ ُوِٕ ا
besides Allah: I will call on my
Lord: perhaps, by my prayer to my ُ ً ذ َ ػ َث
وَؤدِ ُى سٍّْ ػَغًَ ؤََّب ؤَ ُىَٕ ِث ُػَبء
Lord, I shall be not unblest."
(19-48) ُِ َث
سٍّْ شَوِّب
When he had turned away from
them and from those whom they د ذ ُ ََٔ
ِٕكِ َّب اػَِزضََُهِْ وََٓب َؼُِج ُوَٕ ِٖٓ ُو
worshipped besides Allah, We
bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, و ٚ ُِا
ََِّٚ وََٛجَِ٘ب َُ ُ بِعِحَبمَ وََؼِ ُىة
and each one of them We made a
prophet. (19-49) ُِ َ ُِ
وًًَّب خَؼَِْ٘ب َٗجِّب
But Lut had faith in him: he said: "I
will leave home for the sake of my ِٗ ٓ ِش َ ُٚ غ
ًَُِكَأَٖٓ َُ ُ ُى ٌ وَهَبٍَ بٍّْ ُهَبخ ْ ب
Lord: for He is Exalted in Might,
and Wise." (29-26) ُ ٌَُِسٍّْ بَّ ُ ُىَ اُْؼَضَِ ُ اُْح
ْ ض ٛ ِٚٗ َث

He said: "I will go to my Lord! He
will surely guide me! (37-99) ِ ت َث ِٗ
َِِٖوَهَبٍَ بٍّْ رَاِٛ ْ بًَُِ سٍّْ عََُهذ
Behold! Abraham said to his father
and his people: "I do indeed clear ِٗ ْ َ
ٍَِّ٘وِبرْ هَبٍَ بِِثشَاُِٛ ُ ُِإَثُِِٚ وَهَىِِِٓٚ ب
myself of what ye worship!"
(43-26) ّْٔ ذ
ََٕثشَاء ٓ َّب رَؼُِج ُو
There is for you an excellent
example (to follow) in Abraham ح َ خ ُ
ٍِهذِ ًَبَٗذِ ٌَُِْ ؤُعِىَ ٌ حغََ٘ ٌ ك َ
and those with him, when they said
to their people: "We are clear of ُ ٚ َّ
بِِثشَاَُِْٛ وَاُزََِٖ َٓؼَ ُ ِبرْ هَبُىا
you and of whatever ye worship
besides Allah: we have rejected
you, and there has arisen, between
ِٔ ُ ِٗ ِ
ُِوَىِِٓهِْ بَّب ُثشَاء ٌِِْٓ٘ وَٓ َّب
us and you, enmity and hatred
forever, unless ye believe in Allah
ُ َ ِ ِ د
ٌِِْرَؼُِج ُوَٕ ِٖٓ ُوٕ اَُِّٚ ًَلشَِٗب ث ذ
َ ٌْ
وََثذَا ثَََُِ٘٘ب وَثََُِ٘ ُ ُ اُْؼذَاوَحُ وَاُْجَـِعَبء
and Him alone": but not when
Abraham said to his father: "I will
pray for forgiveness for thee,
though I have no power (to get) ُ ٙ ِ ِ ٘ َز ر
ؤََثذّا حًَّ ُآُِِىا ثِبَُِّٚ وَحذَ ُ بَِّب
aught on thy behalf from Allah."
(They prayed): "Our Lord! In Thee
do we trust, and to Thee do we
ِٕ ِ
َهَىٍَ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ ُِإَثُِِٚ َُإَعِزَـِلشَ َّ َُي
turn in repentance: to Thee is (our)
final Goal. (60-4) ِ َِ ِي
ٍوََٓب ؤَِٓ ُ َُيَ ٖٓ اَُِّٚ ِٖٓ شٍَِء
َ َّ َ َّث
سََّ٘ب ػَُِِيَ رَىًََِْ٘ب وبَُُِِيَ ؤََٗجَِ٘ب

Abraham's threat to his people’s idols
"And by Allah, I have a plan for
your idols - after ye go away and ِ ٌ ٕ َُِب
َٕوَر َِّٚ َُإًَُِذَ َّ َؤصَِ٘بَٓ ُْ ثَؼذَ ؤ
turn your backs"... (21-57)
ُ َُ ر
ََُِٖىُّىا ٓذِِثش
So he broke them to pieces (all)
but the biggest of them, that they ُ َِ ُ ُ ُِ َ ُ خز
ِْكَدَؼَِهِْ ُ َارًا بَّب ًَجِريّا َّهِْ َُؼَّه
might turn (and address
themselves) to it. (21-58) ؼ
َٕبَُُِِِٚ َشِخِ ُى
They said, "We heard a youth talk
of them: he is called Abraham." ٚ ٍ َ ُ ُش َ
ُ َُ ُ هَبُُىا عِٔؼَِ٘ب كَزًّ َزًْ ُِْٛ ُوَب
(21-60)
ْ
ُ ُِٛبِِثشَا
Then did he turn upon them,
striking (them) with the right hand. َ ِ َ َ
ِكشَاؽَ ػَُِِهِْ ظشِثّب ثِبَُُِْٔني

Abraham's thrown into fire
They said, "Burn him and protect
your gods, if ye do (anything at ُ ُش ُ َشه
ِٕهَبُىا ح ُّْىُٙ وَاٗص ُوا آُِهَزٌَِْ ب
all)!" (21-68)
ِ ً
َُُ٘زِْ كَبػِني
So naught was the answer of
(Abraham's) people except that ُ ُ ى
كَٔب ًَبَٕ خَ َاةَ هَىِِِٓٚ بَِّب ؤَٕ هَبُىا َ
they said: "Slay him or burn him."
But Allah did save him from the ُِ٘ ٙ َشه ٙ ُ ِٚ ِ َ ا
ِاهُْزُى ُ ؤَوِ ح ُّْى ُ كَإَجنَبٙ اَُّ ُ ٖٓ َّبس
Fire. Verily in this are Signs for
people who believe. (29-24) ٘ َ ُ ٕ
َٕبِ َّ كٍِ رَُِيَ َُأََبدٍ ِّوَىٍِّ ُآُِِى
They said, "Build him a furnace,
and throw him into the blazing fire!" و ُ ٘ ٚث
ٍِهَبُىا اثُِىا َُ ُ َُُِ٘بّٗب كَإَُْ ُىُٙ ك
(37-97)

Abraham safe in the fire
We said, "O Fire! be thou cool. and
(a means of) safety for Abraham!" ِ َ٘ ُ ع َذ َّ
وَاُزََِٖ خَبٛ ُوا كَُِ٘ب ََُ٘هذََِّهِْ ُُجََِ٘ب
(29-69)
ِ ٔ َ ِ َّ َ
َوبِٕ اََُّٚ َُٔغَ اُْ ُحغِِ٘ني
Then they sought a stratagem
against him: but We made them ُ ٛوَؤ َا ُوا ثِِٚ ًَُِذّا كَدَؼَِْ٘ب
ُْ َ َسد
the ones that lost most! (21-70)
ِ
ََِٖاُْإَخغَش

(Abraham's) people except that ُ ُ ى
كَٔب ًَبَٕ خَ َاةَ هَىِِِٓٚ بَِّب ؤَٕ هَبُىا َ

َكَإ َا ُوا ثِِٚ ًَُِذّا كَدَؼَِْ٘بٛ ُ اُْإَعِلَِني
made them the ones most
humiliated! (37-98)

Abraham's inter cession for his father
"O our Lord! cover (us) with Thy
Forgiveness, me, my parents, and ْٔ ٌَ ِ َث
َسََّ٘ب اؿْلشِ ٍُِ وَُِىَاُِذ َّ وَُِِ ُآِِِ٘ني
(all) Believers, on the Day that the
Reckoning will be established!" ُ َىَِّ َ ُى ُ اُْحغَب
وّ ِ ة
(14-41)

Abraham's glad tiding of Ishaq and Yacoub
We gave him Isaac and Jacob: all
(three) We guided: and before him, و ًال ٚ
ًّ ُ َوَوََٛجَِ٘ب َُ ُ بِعِحَبمَ وََؼِ ُىة
We guided Noah, and among his
progeny, David, Solomon, Job, َ ٗ
َِٖٓٛذَََِ٘ب وَُىحّب ٛذَََِ٘ب ِٖٓ هَِجَُ وَ
Joseph, Moses and Aaron: thus do
We reward those who do good:
(6-84)
َََ ر َّْ و ع
َُسَّزِِٚ دَا ُودَ وَ ََُُِِٔبَٕ وؤُّىة
َ س ع
َوََُى ُقَ وَُٓىعًَ وََٛب ُوَٕ وًَزَُِي
ِ ٔ ِض
ََٗد ٌِ اُْ ُحغِِ٘ني
There came Our Messengers to
Abraham with glad tidings. They ِِ ع َ
َُِْٛوََُوذِ خَبءد سُ َُُ٘ب بِِثشَا
said, "Peace! "he answered,
"Peace!" and hastened to entertain ّ ُ ج
ْ َثِبُُْـشِشَي هَبُىاْ عَالَّٓب هَبٍَ عَال
them with a roasted calf. (11-69)

ٍكَٔب َُجِثَ ؤَٕ خَبء ثِؼِدٍَ حَُِ٘ز
And his wife was standing (there),
and she laughed: but We gave her َّ ج خ َِ ر
وَآشؤَُُٚ هَأِئَٔ ٌ كَعَحٌَِذِ كََششَِٗبَٛب
glad tidings of Isaac, and after him,
of Jacob. (11-71) َ
َثِةِعِحَبمَ وَِٖٓ وسَاء بِعِحَبم
و
ََؼِ ُىة
She said: "Alas for me! shall I bear
a child, seeing I am an old woman, ْ هَبَُذِ ََب وَََِِزًَ َؤؤَُِذُ وؤََٗبْ ػَ ُى
َ دص
and my husband here is an old
man? That would indeed be a ٕ ِ
وََٛـزَا ثَؼٍِِ شَُِخّب بِ َّ َٛـزَا
wonderful thing!" (11-72)
ْ َُُِشٍَِ ٌ ػَد
ء ت
When fear had passed from (the
mind of) Abraham and the glad اُش ع َ ََٔ
ُ ِكِ َّب رََٛتَ ػِٖ بِِثشَاَُِْٛ َّو
tidings had reached him, he began
to plead with Us for Lut's people. َ ٚ
ِِّوَخَبءرِ ُ اُُْجشِشَي ُدَبدَُِ٘ب كٍِ هَى
(11-74)

"Praise be to Allah. Who hath
granted unto me in old age Isma'il َ َّ ِ َ ِذ
ًَِاُْحٔ ُ ُِِّٚ اُزٌِ وََٛتَ ٍُِ ػ
and Isaac: for truly my Lord is He,
the Hearer of Prayer! (14-39) َّ َث َ ِ
ٍّْاٌَُِْجشِ بِعَٔبػََُِ وبِعِحَبمَ بِٕ س
َ غ اُذ
َُغُِٔ ُ ُّػَبء
They said: "Fear not! We give thee
glad tidings of a son endowed with َ ِٗ ٗج ّْش ـ ُ
ٍّهَبُىاْ الَ رَىِخَْ بَّب َُش ُىَ ثِ ُال
wisdom." (15-53)
َ
ٍُِِْػ
He said: "Do you give me glad
tidings that old age has seized َّغ َ ٔث َّ ر
ٍََِّ٘ ٓ َٕهَبٍَ ؤََششُِ ُىٍِٗ ػًَِ ؤ
me? Of what then, is your good
news?" (15-54) رج ّْش
َٕاٌَُِْجشُ كَِجَْ َُش ُو
They said: "We give thee glad
tidings in truth: be not then in ٓ ٌ َن َّ ُ ث
َّْٖ ُٖ َهَبُىاْ َششَِٗبىَ ثِبُْح ّْ كَالَ ر
despair!" (15-55)
َاُْوَبِٗطِني
And We bestowed on him Isaac
and, as an additional gift, (a ِ و ٚ
ًوَوََٛجَِ٘ب َُ ُ بِعِحَبمَ وََؼِ ُىةَ َٗبكَِخ
grandson), Jacob, and We made

righteous men of every one (of
them). (21-72) َ ُِ
َوًًَّب خَؼَِْ٘ب صَبُِحِني
And we gave (Abraham) Isaac and
Jacob, and ordained among his َ و ٚ
وَوََٛجَِ٘ب َُ ُ بِعِحَبمَ وََؼِ ُىةَ وَخَؼَِْ٘ب
progeny Prophethood and
Revelation, and We granted him ٙ و ُسَّ ِ اُُ٘ى
ُ كٍِ ر َّْزِٚ ُّج َّحَ وَاٌُِْزَبةَ َآرََُِ٘ب
his reward in this life; and he was
in the Hereafter (of the company)
of the Righteous. (29-27)
ِ َِٗ اُذ
ِؤَخشَُٙ كٍِ َُُِّٗب وبَُّٚ كٍِ اُْأخشَح ِ
ِ اُص
َََُٖٔ َّبُِحِني
And We gave him the good news
of Isaac - a prophet - one of the ّْ ُِ ٙ َّ ث
َٖٓ وََششَِٗب ُ ثِةِعِحَبمَ َٗجِّب
Righteous. (37-112)
اُص
ََّبُِحِني
(When they did not eat). He
conceived a fear of them. They ُ ُ
ِكَإَوِخَظَ ِِٓ٘هِْ خُِلَخً هَبُىا َُب رَخَق
said, "Fear not," and they gave him
glad tidings of a son endowed with ُ ٙ ث َّش
ٍَُِِْوََش ُو ُ ثِـَِبٍّ ػ
knowledge. (51-28)

But his wife came forward
(laughing) aloud: she smote her َش َِ ر
ِكَإَهَْجَِذِ آشؤَُُٚ كٍِ ص َّحٍ كَصٌََّذ
forehead and said: "A barren old
woman!" (51-29) ْ دص
ْ ُِوَخِهَهَب وَهَبَُذِ ػَ ُى ْ ػَو
They said, "Even so has thy Lord
spoken: and He is full of Wisdom ٛ ِٚٗ ُّ َ َ
َهَبُُىا ًزَُِيَ هَبٍ سَثيِ بَّ ُ ُى
and Knowledge." (51-30)
َْ ْ
ُ ُِِاُْحٌَُِ ُ اُْؼ
Vision of slaughtering Ismail
Then, when (the son) reached (the
age of) (serious) work with him, he ِٗ ٍَث ََٔ َ ٚ اُغ
ٍّْكِ َّب َثِؾَ َٓؼَ ُ َّؼٍَِ هَبٍَ ََب ُ٘ َّ ب
said: "O my son! I see in vision that
I offer thee in sacrifice: now see ظ ُ َٗ
َِؤسَي كٍِ أََُْ٘بِّ ؤٍّْ َؤرْثَحيَ كَبٗ ُش
what is thy view!" (the son) said:
"O my father! do as thou art
commanded: thou will find me, if
َ ر َش
ُ َِٓٓبرَا َرشَي هَبٍَ ََب ؤَثَذِ اكْؼَْ َٓب ُا
Allah so wills, one practicing
Patience and Constancy!"
ِٚ ِ اُص ِذ
ََِٖعَزَد ٍُِٗ بِٕ شَبء اَُّ ُ َٖٓ َّبثِش
(37-102)

So when they had both submitted
their wills (to Allah), and he had ِٚ َِ ََٔ
ِكِ َّب ؤَعَِٔب وََرَّ ُ ُِِْدَجِني
laid him prostrate on his forehead
(for sacrifice), (37-103)
