Quahog Classic Softball Rules
Cap Roster at 15. 10 people can play in the field, but everyone must bat in the line up regardless of who is in the field. Bases will be 65’ apart. Format will be single-elimination due to the nature of the sport. Home and away will be determined by the seeding matrix. Games will may be played through 7 innings with no inning may begin after 50 minutes into the game. Games cannot end in a tie, and this is the only scenario where extra time can be granted. Each inning will be capped at 10 runs per team. The mercy rule is 15 runs after 5 completed innings or 11 runs after 6 completed innings. The pitch count will begin at 1-1, and after a 2 strike count, the second foul ball will be declared a strikeout. The ball must have a maximum arc of 6-12 feet and must land on the strike mat or base to be declared a “strike”. Warnings of illegal arc will be given prior to the ball reaching the batter. Batters may elect to swing at any pitch. Teams may supply their own bats as long as they are ASA sanctioned. Sharing is encouraged. Balls and bats will be provided, but teams should supply their own gloves. Metal cleats are not allowed. Sliding is allowed, but no stealing or leading. Right of way is given to the runner until the ball is at the base or plate, then right of way is given to the defense.
