Employee Questionnaires
The people who work for any organisation, whether they are employees or
volunteers, are crucial for its success.
The attached employee survey is intended to help you understand the perceptions
and opinions of employees on key areas such as job satisfaction, motivation,
communication, personal development and empowerment.
This is a comprehensive survey and not all questions will be appropriate for all
organisations. You might find that you want to use parts but not all of the survey. Feel
free, it is in Microsoft word format to aid cutting and pasting. For co-operatives in
particular, some sections will need to be omitted or amended.
To see a volunteer policy and volunteer questionnaires, refer back to the people
resources section on the C3 web site.
How to use the results
The questionnaire has been designed to be completed anonymously and therefore to
encourage honest responses. When editing this form for use, care should be taken to
make sure that respondents cannot be identified. For larger organisations however,
you might want to request some limited information to compare different
teams/sectors and management levels.
Some organisations find that they get more results by offering something in return for
completed surveys – entry into a prize draw, pledging charitable donations etc
The survey will provide quantified data about employees’ perceptions and opinions.
This should make analysis and comparisons between each year straightforward.
Additional results
In addition to the information collected directly from staff through surveys and
questionnaires, your organisation might consider collecting information about staff
absence and staff turnover.
These figures should give you an alternative view of how happy and motivated your
employees are. These figures would need to be collected over a long term period
and compared from year to year. You will need to develop a simple system for
recording staff absence.
