Seven Time IBMA Vocal Group of the Year, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver Makes Tour Stop In Prestonsburg Multi-award winning bluegrass Gospel recording artist, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver will be featured during an exciting event, at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg, KY. Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver will be featured during this exciting event set to take place on Saturday, February 7 at 7:30pm. Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver was awarded Vocal Group of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association seven consecutive years. The group also received the honor of IBMA’s Gospel Performance of the Year three years in a row, with recording projects released by Crossroads Entertainment. Lawson‟s latest recording, Help Is On The Way, which released in the Spring of 2008, has afforded the popular group yet more success, as the title cut recently became the recording‟s first Number One song on Southern Gospel Music‟s Singing News Magazine National Top 80 Radio Airplay Chart, a first for the Bluegrass legend. A deep love for music was instilled in the life of Quicksilver leader Doyle Lawson as a small boy growing up in the hills of East Tennessee. Lawson‟s earliest memories center around music and listening to the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday nights. By age 12 he had learned to play mandolin and during his teen years became accomplished in other instruments, as well. By the time he reached his late teens he had his first full-time job playing banjo for Jimmy Martin, and throughout the next 16 years played with a variety of talented musicians before forming his own group in 1979. “I had played in bands that had their own sound before I joined them,” Lawson remembers, “but I wanted to put together a group that would have „my sound‟.” Over the past three decades, Lawson and his celebrated band have received practically every honor known to bluegrass music. He is recognized as one of the industry‟s most celebrated musicians, having released nearly 40 recordings to date. His current single release to Southern Gospel radio, “Eternity Has Two,” is currently receiving airplay at radio stations nationwide. On February 7, this nationally acclaimed musical group will bring its unique musical presentation to the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg. This exciting musical event, featuring Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver promises to be one to remember.
