1. TRAVEL DATES AND TIMES

You are responsible for your travel to and from the island of Hawaii.

Please keep these times and locations in mind when booking your flight:

April 4 – 11

April 4 – Arrive in Hilo between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm

April 11 – Fly out of Kona between 12 noon and 2:00 pm

2. HOW TO BOOK TICKETS WITH DIFFERENT ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE LOCATIONS

You can book your flight using almost any of the popular travel booking websites, such as Kayak, Travelocity, Expedia or

Orbitz. When booking on-line, look for a link that says “Multi-destination” or “Multi-City”. You may also go through your

preferred airline’s travel website or your local travel agent.

Airport codes: Hilo (ITO) and Kona (KOA)

3. COORDINATING TRAVEL WITH OTHER STUDENTS

Due to strict federal regulations regarding student privacy, we are not permitted to distribute contact lists without parental per-

mission. If you would like to get in touch with other students about travel arrangements, please have a parent or guardian give

their permission on the Student Acceptance Form to share your contact information for the purposes of coordinating travel only.

4. STUDENT PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF

Brown staff will meet you at the Hilo airport for transfer to Volcanoes National Park. Look for people wearing Summer@Brown

t-shirts in the arrival hall.

At the end of the program, you will be transferred to Kona and escorted through the airport until you reach the security gates.

5. IF YOUR FLIGHT IS DELAYED

If you experience a delay while traveling, call Dean Robin Rose at (401) 743-2443 or the Kohala Center at (808) 887-6411 with

your new flight arrival time. Explain that you are with the Brown Environmental Leadership group – we will arrange to meet you

at Hilo airport and transfer you to Volcanoes National Park.

6. SEND US YOUR ITINERARY AND CELL PHONE NUMBER

Once you’ve booked your tickets, it’s important to submit your travel itinerary to our office along with your other forms and your

cell phone number. Your itinerary and cell phone number will help us track your incoming flight into Hilo and allow us to contact

you when you arrive at the airport.

We look forward to seeing you in Hawaii!
