Student worksheets on CD-ROM.
With optional Student Projects on CD-ROM which should include:
Hammer design
Pocket torch
Salt and pepper pots
Chess set
CAD/CAM Software
The software should include:-
Windows 95 or above compatibility, the software is an integrated suite of powerful CAD/CAM tools
which create G&M code programs conforming to Industrial ISO programming standards.
Computer Aided Design
The CAD package should provide a number of tools which allows the input of Straight Lines,
Arcs and Threads to define internal or external profiles.
Manipulation tools allow existing entities to be moved or deleted and new elements to be added.
Automatic error checking does not allow illegal entities (not conforming to turning conventions
and or the tooling available) to be defined.
Alternatively, component profiles can be imported from a third party CAD package (e.g.
Autocad) using the DXF file formats.
CAM Processing
The CAM Processor automatically produces an Error free G&M code listing making optimum use
of the cutting tools available and assigning feeds, speeds and cut depths appropriate to the
selected material and the machine tool been used.
Manual Data Input
Existing G&M Code programs can be edited, or new ones defined using the sophisticated CNC
editor.
Blocks can be modified, inserted or deleted with the aid of the on-line programming code help
facility.
When inputting new programs, each block entered produces a graphical simulation of the cutter
path.
Automatic error checking ensures incomplete blocks and speeds, feeds and cut depths
inappropriate to the material and machine tool cannot be specified.
G&M Program Import
Post Processed files can be imported from major CAD/CAM packages.
Graphical Views and Simulations
The component produced by a program can be viewed in both 2D and 3D. A Zoom and
cross-sectional view facility allows individual sections of the component to be viewed in more
detail.
The manufacture cycle for programs can be simulated in 2D and 3D in either single block mode
or continuous mode.
Manufacture
The machines should incorporate Datum Switches, which allow the machine to automatically
initialize at the start of manufacture. The only user input is the measured length from the front
face of the chuck jaws to the billet front face. In this way, the machining cycle is initiated
effortlessly and quickly.
The machines should incorporate an ergonomically positioned operator’s panel, which controls
the machine tool functions. This emulates the type of manual control panel found on industrial
CNC controls.
Off-Line Fanuc Panel Emulation
This software package can be integrated into the CAD/CAM software suite to allow programs to
be edited or written using an on-screen emulation of the Fanuc OT Control Operators Panel.
Manual control of the machine tool and automatic manufacture of programs can be simulated
using the emulation software.
Administrator (Tutor) Functions
In administration mode, the following can be modified.
TOOL Library - Defining of new tools and offset setting.
CUT Data - This is the information the sophisticated CAM Processor uses to automatically create
a G&M code program.
Administrators can Add/Delete materials, change feeds, speeds and cut depths.
PARK Position - Tool Position for Tool Changes
UNITS - Sets the units for the Configuration settings - metric or imperial.
