Content Skill: Students will locate, access and interpret information on
Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle. The focus of this research will be sea turtle adaptations,
migration patterns, adaptations, inherited traits versus learned characteristics, and
sequence life cycle of the sea turtle. Students will evaluate positive and negative impact on
human activity on the ocean system.

Description of project:
Students research Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle adaptations, migration patterns, adaptations, inherited
traits versus learned characteristics, and sequence life cycle of the sea turtle. Students will
evaluate positive and negative impact on human activity on the ocean system. Research will be
foundation for development campaign to educate parents and other students on the plight of the
Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle. Students have choices in how to present information, such as: video,
PowerPoint, web page, brochure, poster or book.
Culmination:
Students write newsletter articles, write governor advocating protection of Kemp’s
Ridley nesting sites and strict enforcement use of TEDs or advocating creation of special
marine preserves for Gulf Coast animals.

Once you have written down all your sources of information, you need to
create your bibliography (an alphabetical list, usually at the end of your
report or project, of all the books, magazines, encyclopedias, web sites,
etc., where you found information to help you in your research). To do this,
put all sources in alphabetical order by author (if, as in the case of the web
site above, you don't have an author, use the title). The next page shows how
the sources listed above would be rewritten to create a bibliography:
