APPLICATION FOR MONSANTO FELLOWSHIP
Of THE PYC CENTER
This form is to be used to apply for the Monsanto Fellowship for those who are pursuing research or degree from one side of the PYC center and want to carry out research and training in another side, between Beijing and New Haven locations. The awards are intended to act as “seed” funding for fellows needing up to six months of support and it is hoped that this initial support will result in long term collaboration and support between the involved laboratories at the two sides. Additional information is presented on the back of this form. The application is to be completed by the fellow’s hosting faculty advisor and to be signed by sponsoring faculty advisors from both sides. The fellow, once receiving the award, is required to acknowledge the support of “Monsanto Fellowship of the PYC center” in all related publications/presentations and to participate in the activity associated with this fellowship program.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Monsanto Fellowship of the PYC center
Monsanto Fellowship Fund made available from a generous gift of Monsanto to support postdoctoral and graduate research associated with the Peking-Yale Joint Center for Plant Molecular Genetics and Agrobiotechnology. Eligibility Nominee must be a registered graduate student or postdoctoral student in the originating institution and plans a research visit to the host institution. The two institutions must involve one at China and Yale University. Note that student from associated member laboratories from the Chinese Academy of China is also eligible. By accepting this award, the nominee consents that he/she will return to the originating institution to complete the research and training. Faculty members must be a member or an associated member of, or affiliated with the center. Collaboration involving more than two laboratories is encouraged. The same originating-hosting laboratory pair is limited to one nomination per year. Funding Fellowships intend to provide stipend support during the research visit period. This stipend may be supplemented by additional funds provided by the advisor, fellow or other sources. Approximately two fellowships will be awarded each year. The fellowships are normally for a six-month period. The nominated fellow must start work in the host faculty member’s laboratory within six month once he/she received award notice. Late start will result in the award be reassigned.
