SCHENGEN VISA REQUIREMENTS:



ALL VISA APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT THEIR APPLICATIONS IN PERSON



AS OF 1 SEPTEMBER 2008 SOUTH AFRICAN PASSPORT HOLDERS WITH A

RESIDENCE OUTSIDE GAUTENG PROVINCE CAN APPLY FOR A SCHENGEN

VISA VIA ONE OF THE FOLLOWING AGENCIES, appointed by the Embassy:

For groups over 7 persons special arrangement and appointment has to be made in

advance.

REQUIREMENTS



ALL DOCUMENTS HAVE TO BE PRODUCED IN ORIGINAL. ONLY APPLICATIONS

WITH THE FOLLOWING SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED:



● Each applicant has to present with his document filled in checklist.



● Original application form for Schengen visa (A4) ( www.mzv.cz/visaform) filled in

completely and legibly and signed by the applicant (or the legal guardian for children).



● Passport valid for 90 days after the applicant´s last day of stay in Schengen territory,

with a blank visa page for the visa sticker. Temporary passports might be accepted

and must be accompanied by a certified copy of ID or a cert. copy of birth certificate

for children under 16.



● Copy of the passport (only the data page with the photograph and the signature).



● One recent passport sized photograph (3,5 x 4,5 cm) in colour to be glued, do not

staple.

● Proof of financial funds for the stay at the territory of Schengen states, e.g.:



- tax receipt of foreign exchange purchased bearing applicant´s name,



- traveller´s cheques,



- for credit cards, bank letter stating amount of funds available.



- cash will not be accepted as proof of foreign exchange.



● Round trip air-ticket and itinerary + copy with dates and flight numbers specifying

entry and exit of the territory from Schengen states. If more than one entry is required,

a reason must be provided.



● Proof of valid Travel-health-accident Insurancefor the entire duration of your stay in

the Schengen territory- letter from insurance company covering medical expences,

including emergency hospital treatment and repatriation (transportation) to the home

country/country of residence, mentioning name of the person, policy number, period of

cover and medical coverage of the Rand equivalent of 30.000 Euro (30 thousands).



● Proof of accommodation in all Schengen countries visited during the trip.



● Visa of the final/main country (longest stay) of the journey must be obtained (if

needed) before applying for a Schengen visa.



● Certified parental consent from both parents is required for children under 18

traveling alone. If the child travels with only one parent, the other parent must produce

notarised (certified) consent. Pupils and students - original letter from school, college

or university.



● Official Invitation from person to be visited, if applicable, certified by the Foreign

Police in the Czech Republic.



● For business an official business letter from a company in the Czech Republic ev.

other Schengen countries and from employer stating purpose of visit must be

presented.



● The visa fee must be paid before the application is submitted at the Embassy by

bank transfer to the Embassy account: ABSA Bank. Embassy of the Czech Republic.

Account number 9193700087, Brooklyn Branch (632005). Reference : Applicants

surnmane followed by a space and initials.



Visa application must be submitted at the SAME MONTH when the visa fee has been

paid!

Please note that the visa fee changes every month according to the exchange rate

determined by the Embassy!



Visas will be issued free of charge for Children under age of 6,

School pupils, students and accompanying teachers who undertake trips for the

purpose of study or educational training - will be assessed by the Embassy

Researchers travelling for the purposes of carrying out scientific research

Spouses of EU/EEA citizens and their children, under age 21. Copies of spouses´

EU/EEA passport, Full Marriage/Full Birth certificates etc. must be submitted with

application as proof of relationship with EU/EEA spouse/parent



The Embassy does not accept cash!



Proof of payment must be submitted together with the visa application.



In case of the money transfer from the foreign bank all the bank charges must be paid

by the depositor, otherwise the application cannot be accepted.



PROCESSING TIME is usually two calendar weeks (according to the Czech law the

Embassy is entitled to use 30 days to process a visa). A personal interview with the

applicant may be requested at any time. If application for a visa is rejected no

explanation will be provided. The decision is final and irrevocable.



The Embassy cannot guarantee the issuance of any visa.



The Embassy is not responsible for information given by travel agencies or guide

books.



Czech Embassy recommends to apply for a visa 3 or more weeks before the date of

departure!!!
