Casey Johnson may only be seven years old but the powerhouse Bomaderry Swimming Club member is
already racking up the records.
On Friday, Casey churned up the pool at the club’s Friday night club to break the 100m freestyle short
course record for her age group, breaking the two minute mark to hit the wall at 1.59.28.
She was joined in the record books by Rebekah Wallace, 9, who broke the age group record for the 16m
breaststroke clocking up 22.03 secs.
This week’s McDonalds Awards go to Matthew Davidson and Troy Sweet.
Matthew,10, took nearly two seconds of his 50m freestyle time and also recorded his first time for the
50m breaststroke.
Troy, 7, took a massive eight seconds off his 25m breaststroke time as well as recording a PB in 25m
freestyle time, just managing to touch out his twin brother, Jack.
Jordan Collins also put in a great effort to slash seven seconds off her 200m backstroke time in the
distance pointscore, coming in at 3.19.06.
Nine-year-old James Batson, however, proved the size doesn’t matter annihilating his 200m backstroke
time by a massive 40 seconds from last year, not only breaking the four-minute mark but putting in a
swim that is equal to athletes much older than himself.
Lucas Johnson, 5, last week’s McDonald’s Award winner, will be on his big sister’s heels in a few years,
taking more than four seconds off his 25m freestyle time, while Hannah Wallace, 8, also recorded a PB
for the 25m freestyle.
Ally Sparks, 11, took two seconds off her PB in the 50m freestyle to come in at 37.86, while Chanice
Banks, 10 also took nearly two seconds of her best time in the same event.
Mitchell Clark, 12, finished with an 18 second PB in his 100m backstroke while Ally Sparks slashed nearly
30 seconds off her time in the same event.
Katja DeRoo and Sam Ellery also put in a amazing swims in the 100m backstroke each recording massive
PBs from their times of last year.
Paige Clark, 7, accumulated five points for a magnificent swim in the 25m breaststroke taking seven
seconds off her previous time.
In the 50m breaststroke times also tumbled with Natalie Sparks, Aiden Walters, and Lucas Logan all
recording big PBs.
Bomaderry Swim Club welcomes all swimmers, of all ages and abilities to come along to the Friday night
competition at Bomaderry Pool.
There are races for all abilities and ages and the family friendly atmosphere is a great way to meet new
people especially if you are new to the area.
It costs only $2 per swimmer or $5 a family to join in and a barbecue is held every club night.
Club members are reminded that the Bomaderry Swimming Club carnival is to be held on October 31 at
the Bomaderry pool and entries close on October 15.

Carnivals will be most weekends for the summer season with Bomaderry Swimmers already down for
the Narooma carnival on November 20-21, Dapto on November 28 and Nowra on December 5.
These carnivals are a great opportunity for the younger swimmers to test their mettle against
competitors from other clubs, as well as to watch the more experienced swimmers try to obtain their
NSW Country and State qualifying times.
