Northern Tier Boy Scout Camp
2012
Hello all,
I know it is just the start of 2011, but we need to start planning our 2012 High Adventure Trip.
For 2012 we are trying to book a trip at the Northern Tier (Charles L. Sommers or Atikokan
Base) National High Adventure Base in Ely, Minnesota or Ontario Canada (here is the website

We will be looking at the weeks of either July 21 or July 28, 2012 (roughly the same as Philmont
this year) as a starting point for planning. It is estimated that the trip will cost approximately
$1500.00 per person.
Because of the way BSA runs Northern Tier, we are looking at two crews of 6 boys and 2 adults
for each crew. So, we have room for 12 scouts and 4 adults. (If we go to Canada we can increase
the number of scouts for each crew).
What I need between now and March 1st is a list of boys and adults that would like to be part of
this trip. We will have a general meeting to finalize initial group and our 1st and 2nd preference
dates for our trip. On April 1, 2011, the camp starts taking phone reservations for the 2012
summer program. Unlike Philmont and Sea Base there is no lottery. We will call and with a little
luck get our reservations for two crews.
Boys who will be age 13 by the end of 2012 are eligible to go on this trip.
Remember, this is the earliest stages of planning the trip and the most important thing is to get a
list of the Scouts interested in the trip and determine dates for the trip. If you review the website,
