     The original architect for Flowers Hall, a Mr.
     Poindexter, of Washington D.C., passes
     away and the original plans are scrapped. H.

     Boston, is employed for a new building
     design. In June, the foundation is laid for the
     building. Dr. William E. Martin is appointed to
     serve as president of Woman's College of
     Alabama, the new name for the College. On
     August 24, ACFC officials move the
     furnishings, pianos, laboratory equipment,
     chemicals, and records of the first 50 years
     into Hamner Hall, a brick building in
     Montgomery. The same evening, a fire
     destroys the building and all of its contents.

     The Staton Center for Learning Enrichment is
     established in honor of Thomas F. Staton,
     professor emeritus of psychology, and his
