PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
—U.S. DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION, ARLINGTON, VA JUN. 2010 – CURRENT
SharePoint Architect / Team Lead (consultant)
Designed and implemented direct line-of-business solutions that functioned inside
SharePoint 2010. Defined the logical and physical implementation details for the new
agency-wide SharePoint 2010 farm, including contingency planning for fail-over and disaster
recovery scenarios. Set up agency-wide form library that now houses over 800 InfoPath
forms, removing over 80% of the paper forms at the agency.
Key Accomplishments:
Custom-built an automated workflow solution for handling personnel change
requests. This solution leverages InfoPath 2010 with custom C# code, SharePoint
event receivers, and Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) all inside SharePoint.
Personnel Change system improved response time from 8-12 weeks down to fewer
than 2 weeks.
Deployed library of InfoPath forms to a central SharePoint site collection to manage
the filling and routing of forms for approval that had previously required paper forms
and physical signatures.
Authored custom calendaring solution to replace an out-of-the-box SharePoint
“solution” that was built with no ties to Exchange or Active Directory. This custom
solution queried Exchange and AD in real-time to coordinate conference room
booking schedules and staff “free/busy” calendar status.
Built and deployed “Reports Center” in SharePoint for centralized access to reports
concerning personnel change requests, form library utilization, and department-level
site utilization. These reports were used for performance-tuning and capacity
planning as the new SharePoint 2010 farm evolved.
PLANET TECHNOLOGIES

—SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSN. OF GOVERNMENTS, LOS ANGELES, CA (THREE-WEEK ENGAGEMENT) 2010
Team Foundation Server / SharePoint Administrator (consultant)
Deployed Team Foundation Server 2010 and integrated SharePoint 2010. Developed
custom TFS process templates, work item templates, and SharePoint reports. Delivered two
full weeks of training focused on bringing SCAG’s entire development staff (including
requirements, project management, and QA staff) up to speed on how to best leverage this
TFS-SharePoint solution to properly manage their software development workload.
(key accomplishments continued on the next page)

—NEW YORK CITY HOUSING AUTHORITY, NEW YORK, NY (TWO-WEEK ENGAGEMENT) 2010
SharePoint Consultant
Provided a “proof-of-concept” install and demonstration of SharePoint 2010 in a direct
compete against Oracle’s intranet portal product. The proof-of-concept involved two-way
communication with back-end Oracle database systems without requiring custom code;
federated search crawls that searched CNN as well as the portal; and custom Visual
Studio 2010-developed SharePoint web parts.
Key Accomplishments:
Used “external content types” with Oracle web services to present read-write
capabilities to Oracle data through the standard SharePoint list interface.
Built custom “Visual Web Parts,” event receivers, and other advanced SharePoint
features to demonstrate the power of custom code options with Visual Studio 2010
and SharePoint 2010.
Won the direct compete against the Oracle product, and started NYCHA with a
development SharePoint environment and architectural design from which to
continue building out their farm.
—UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE, KNOXVILLE, TN FEB. 2009 – DEC. 2009

SharePoint. The original deployment leveraged SharePoint 2007 and was later upgraded to
SharePoint 2010 after the latest version was released.
Key Accomplishments:
Executed a plan to leverage the Agile “Scrum” software development methodology,
resulting is quicker and more reliable software releases.
Built several custom applications inside SharePoint with custom web parts,
SharePoint Designer workflows, and custom event receivers.

—OAK RIDGE NATIONAL LABORATORY, OAK RIDGE, TN APR. 2007 – FEB. 2009
Assistant CIO and Principal Architect
Orchestrated then implemented ORNL’s largest and most ambitious IT reorganization.
Merged the IT staff from 14 different departments into a single IT organization that
provided services centrally to the entire lab. Oversaw and managed this group of over 100
software engineers. Introduced a plan to use Agile software development, then followed
through on that plan by migrating the 18 most heavily-used applications into our new
standard (the Microsoft .NET product stack with a primary focus on SharePoint).
Key Accomplishments:
Successfully consolidated 14 separate IT departments into a single IT organization,
increasing business value and effectiveness.
Formed a Project Management division within IT so that project budgets, milestones,
and progress could be uniformly tracked and reported.
Developed standards for software and systems that increased efficiency and made
the environment much more agile and adaptable to change.
Created an Enterprise Architecture to link IT investments directly to the lines of
business they affect.
Developed cross-functional teams to collaborate on disparate systems such as .NET
web applications, SAP Portals, PeopleSoft ERP, and SharePoint 2007.
Implemented Microsoft Team Foundation Server unit testing and bug tracking to
report on software defects; this allowed our efforts at performance improvement to
be easily quantified.
—THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY, ORLANDO, FL FEB. 2006 – APR. 2007
Sr. Technical Consultant
Provided executive-level consulting services as Disney’s IT organization was going through a
massive reorganization.
Specifically, brought in to save a strategic IT objective that was failing. IT leadership was
tasked with re-writing a line-of-business application suite that managed roller coasters and
other rides at their theme parks. Their strategy was reasonable, but their project
management had failed. I cut the number of “layers” between developers and decision
makers down from five to two, and took on the role of Project Manager myself. The end
result was a successful deployment delivered on time.
Key Accomplishments:
Completely re-organized the way the project was managed. The communication and
feedback loop was streamlined – developers communicated directly with me, and I
managed requirements with executives.
Helped other teams within the IT organization adapt their project management styles
to mirror the model we implemented.

—HILTON GRAND VACATIONS, ORLANDO, FL JAN. 2001 – FEB. 2006
Applications Architect and Software Manager
Earned several promotions with increasing responsibilities for leadership performance.
Key Accomplishments:
Architected and implemented $5 million IT system to replace an aging legacy
system. Collaborated with business analysts to define requirements and deliver
Hilton’s largest Marketing Information System to date. Gathered requirements from
business stakeholders, designed and implemented the database solution, and
contributed to the service-oriented solution based on next-generation web
application technologies.
Replaced legacy portal system with SharePoint Services. The legacy system was
costing upwards of $10k per month to maintain. SharePoint was free based on our
licensing agreements, and was implemented in 30 days. Maintenance costs went to
nearly zero.
Consolidated IT systems built in-house using Java, VB6, and .NET into a single
scalable platform. This new “Enterprise Service Bus” became the central location for
business logic, marketing data, and enterprise trending information.
Served as lead developer and software architect in a heterogeneous environment
with technologies that included DB2/UNIX, Java, .NET, and classic ASP.
