The meeting consists of Plenary Lectures and Parallel Sessions. The Parallel
Sessions are dedicated to the meeting's three main topics (Sub-Meetings):
A: Apheresis
B: Biosystems Technology
C: Functional Genomics
The sessions dedicated to the topic Biosystems Technology (indicated by yellow shading)
are organized by the DFG-Innovationskolleg “Complex and Cellular Sensor Systems” and
its successor program “Landesforschungsschwerpunkt Innovationsnetzwerk
Biosystemtechnik” The Innovationskolleg lead by D.G. Weiss, K.-P. Schmitz and N.Stoll
was funded by DFG, BMBF and University of Rostock from 1995 to 2001. Sessions B2 and
B3 are held as its official closing workshop.
The sessions dedicated to the topic Biotechnology/Functional Genomics (indicated by blue
shading) are organized by the Proteome Center Rostock, the BMBF Leitprojekt "Human
Proteome Analysis" at the University of Rostock and the Steinbeis Transfer Center
Proteome Analysis Rostock. These activities are led by H.-J. Thiesen and M.O. Glocker
Sessions C1 through C4 correspond to these research fields.
Both networks are joining forces under the "International Research Center of Functional
Life Science", Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, located at the Universities of Rostock and
Greifswald covering the whole range of functional life science, i.e. genomics,
transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, cellomics and bioinformatics.
