A hub for knowledge sharing and provision of technical

support/information/resources/links:





General aim

• To assist governments and other actors in Pacific Island

Countries to facilitate processes and partnerships for

IWRM on the national, catchment and community level

Specifically: To assist the development and implementation

of National Integrated Water Resources Management

(IWRM) and Water Use Efficiency (WUE) Plans

• To facilitate regional exchange and help to improve the

coordination of regional water sector support programmes

implemented with partner organisations in the pacific

region

Pacific IWRM Resource centre

Technical support

• Expertise within SOPAC (water safety planning, water and sanitation,

water quality, hydrology, governance, IWRM, Water Use Efficiency,

etc).

• Source expertise and support from other organisations and

institutions working with water resource management and SIDS (e.g.

links to other Caribbean, Pacific water partnership members,

independent experts, learning centres, etc)

• Bridge to regional exchange of expertise

Pacific Water Action Matrix

• Overview of progress and actions supporting the implementation of

the Pacific Regional Action Plan on Sustainable Water Management

( actions, institutions, initiatives, donors, etc.)



News and Events

• Quarterly newsletter supported of the Pacific Water Partnership

distributed to a growing list of water management practitioners in the

region, ca. 700 receivers early 2008 (also on SOPAC website)

• Calendar of events for water resources management in Pacific Island

Countries and globally (on web site)

Resources Search Facility

• A search facility for publications and other resources related to water

resources management in general with a focus on SIDS and the

Pacific region.





Links

• A directory and search function of organisations, institutions and

experts within water resources management, focussing on Small

Island Developing States (SIDS) and the Pacific region.





Pacific Island Country Water Profiles

• Country profiles for Pacific Islands on water related issues, including

overviews with situation analysis and links to key documents and

resources (housed in national selected institution to support Water

Committee)
