ACHIEVEMENTS
Developed a set of .NET libraries which allow .NET Framework classes to be accessible on Windows Mobile and
other smartphone clients. At Handlemans this allowed the same Business Model classes to be used for Windows XP,
WEB and Windows Mobile clients. This lead to the total development time for the project being reduced to 30%
less than originally budgeted.
Integrated ASP.NET Styled Themes and CSS style sheets with Content Management templates for Compass Group
resulting in a highly flexible Content Management Web Site for the Client (Payne And Gunter) that could be easily
expanded and changed by authorised content providers. This approach also reduced the amount of time required by
the IT department in supporting requests for new content pages by 75% in comparison to older but similar sites
previously developed.
Trained and mentored developers at Close Wealth Management and PCWorld Business in OO techniques resulting
in significant productivity rate increases.

Initial 1 Month Contract Extended to 6 Months Heating, plumbing, property maintenance and utilities company
PH Jones required an experienced .NET programmer to integrate their ASP.NET scheduling system with
Masternaut/ThreeX’s mobile solution.
Communication between ThreeX and the mobile devices (PDA smartphones,Micosoft Windows 5 & 6)was via
MSMQ(MicroSoft Message Queue).
The project communicated with the ThreeX service via the use of MSMQ (MicroSoft Message Queue).
The WEB application communicated with a Business Layer which in turn accessed its data via the use of a DAL
(Data Access Layer) which used L2Q (Linq to SQL 2005)
The WEB client used ASP.NET server controls for more simpler display but, where appropriate, AJAX controls
within Update Panels were used for date and other dependent selection controls.

Clear Creative, in junction with Broker Partners, required an ASP.NET Web Service written quickly for an
application they were creating for their client.
The Web Service provided methods for downloading information relating to Insurance taken out by clients and a
PDF of the Insurance Certificate.
The insurance and client information was stored in MySQL on a Linux server and the PDFs where in a directory
also on a Linux server

Close wealth Management were moving their current and future developments from VB6 to the.NET Framework
3.5. with an Informix backend Database.
I was brought on board to providing a consultative, mentoring and training service to assist them in their move.
Developed Windows Forms (VB.NET) Client interface to a Generic Batch Process Database (Informix DB with
ASCII Disk Files). WinForms DataBinding based on CSLA, ORM. Windows Client Authorisation, Authentication
and Validation done through rules in Business Models object.
Generic Batch Process. Close Wealth Management produce a number of ASCII batch files which they send down to
their bank. These Batch files contain instructions to the bank telling them to move money from one account to
another. Each line basically consists of a Source Account, a Destination Account and how much money to transfer.
Most of these files are auto generated. However sometimes it is necessary to create a batch from scratch or to amend
an existing batch or lines on an existing batch.
The Generic Batch Process allows for this scenario by creating a screen which allows the user to either create a new
batch or amend an existing batch. Business Rules regarding what Source and Destination accounts are allowed to be
together, what ‘Bank Posting Dates’ are valid and other Business Rules have been programmed into the Business
Model and are then implemented in the WinForms client.
