Description of Work: Conduct language assessments using the PLS-4 with identified children 3-4 years of age
in NC involved in the BEGINNINGS study. Present professional content regarding speech-language pathology
services & program information to individual patients and their families, as well as to educational audiences.
Provide oral & written programmatic and administrative guidance for overall management and supervision of
the program. Direct supervision is provided by the Program Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of Speed-language pathology content, standards, guidelines, li-
censure, and best practices. Knowledge of children’s communication development. Ability to relate to others;
build collaboration between service providers and public and private health practitioners; analyze data; serve as
advocate for families with assertiveness; represent agency with professionalism and diplomacy; communicate
effectively.
Must have strong computer skills, ability to search databases for current information on children tracked, and to
update and maintain child data. Must be able to use speech– and hearing-related equipment as well as typical
office equipment, such as telephone, fax and copier.
Must have the ability to communicate and work cooperatively with various professionals and families who have
different educational levels and who are from different cultural backgrounds. Should be a team player; have
strong verbal and written communication skills; have ability to provide leadership, facilitate or participate in in-
tra-and interagency groups.
Training and Experience Requirements: Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and certification/
licensure from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the North Carolina Board of Speech
Language Pathologist and Audiologists.
Special Requirements: North Carolina Licensure
