							Western Washington University – Distance Learning Certificate in Emergency
Management

Western Washington University's Extended Education and Summer Programs offers credit
courses leading to a Certificate in Emergency Management. This program began the fall quarter
2001. The certificate is delivered entirely over the Internet with no face-to-face meetings
required. The required pre-requisite courses are offered twice each year; electives are offered
once a year. Three to fours classes are available every quarter.

Certificate in Emergency Management Curriculum:

EXT 370 Principles and Practices of Emergency Management (4 credits)
EXT 371 Practical Applications of Emergency Management (3)
EXT 372 Law and Policy in Emergency Management (3)

EXT 464 Group Dynamics and Facilitation (3)

EXT 466 Interpersonal Communications (3)
EXT 494 Emergency Management Internship (2-6 credits)
OR
EXT 495 Professional Research Project (2-6 credits)

EXT 467 The Challenge of Terrorism (3)
EXT 497 Business Continuity Planning (4)
