SUMMARY OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH FLORIDA, Jacksonville Associate Professor (2008 - Present) Assistant Professor (2003 - 2008) Visiting Assistant Professor (2002- 2003) See details below. MOTOROLA, INC., Boynton Beach, FL (1994 – 2002) System Design Engineer  Innovated and designed zero-IF digital demodulator and its supporting system including symbol synchronizer, baud detector, automatic gain control (AGC) and automatic frequency control (AFC) algorithms for one-way and two-way mobile/wireless products.  Designed back-end equalizer, pair correlator and clock lock detector to improve the fading and simulcast performance without degrading the static sensitivity. Designed the biased correlator, making the new receiver compatible with the old protocols.  Developed antenna switch diversity scheme, reducing the correlation between two correlated diversity branches and improving system performance under fading and simulcast conditions.  Integrated the soft decision decoding algorithm with BCH decoding and block de-interleaving scheme, improving the overall wireless communication performance with burst errors.  Conducted research on MSK, FSK and QPSK modulation formats to increase system capacity.  Modeled and simulated power control system (AOC) including sigma-delta A/D, DAC and Curriculum Vitae SUSAN VASANA, Ph.D.  DC offset correction functions in GSM, EDGE/GPRS and WCDMA IC chips. Analyzed and evaluated WCDMA down link overall system on static sensitivity, and performance under fading, multi-path and co-channel interference conditions. Measured system impairment tolerance including I-Q amplitude and phase imbalance, DC offset, frequency offset and Rx filter bandwidth effect using SPW modeling and simulation. FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY, Boca Raton, FL (2000 – 2002) Adjunct Professor - Taught courses in Digital Signal Processing. NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, Montreal, Canada (1994) Scientist and Lecturer - Participated in the research team that developed Qualcomm’s CDMA system. TONGJI UNIVERSITY, Shanghai, China (1986 – 1989) Assistant Professor - Taught courses in Electromagnetic Fields and Waves. - Served as Graduate student Advisor, analog circuit diagnosis projects.
