SUMMER RESEARCH GRANTS
Summer 2002
Twenty-eight faculty members participated in research projects funded through
the Provost’s Summer Research Grants program during the summer 2002. A faculty
committee selected these recipients from submitted applications. Twenty-two of the
summer research grants were allocated to faculty in Arts and Sciences, one faculty
member in Computing Sciences and Engineering, College of Health and Education and
Human Services were awarded funding, and two from the Coggin College of Business.
A listing of the award winners and their research topics appears below.
These twenty-eight research projects covered a wide range of subject matter.
Topics in the humanities included a study of 15th century literature and in the natural
sciences, studies of Terrapin Diamondbacks and Juvenile fish on Mantanas Inlet.
Business scholarship included studies on the geographic, gender and age differences in
setting goals and the Social Sciences looked at sexuality in public policy.
Faculty reports on these projects describe them as contributing to the faculty's
ongoing research agendas. In some cases, the participants point to books that they are
completing which were supported by their summer research efforts. They also report
work on different journal articles and national presentations based on their summer
work.
