Congratulations to all for the best community service project in the history of TLS. We raised

$1,500 in cash and donations that were delivered to the Hubbard House on Saturday, December

6. Several club members were there to decorate the lobby for Christmas and deliver the toys,

toiletries and gift cards that were donated. Hubbard House is a local shelter for the women and

children victims of domestic violence. Thanks to all who bought cookies, brought presents and

donated money for the cause. You can be sure your efforts will be appreciated by the residents of

January 23rd PROFESSIONAL SPOTLIGHT:

The Propeller Club of the United States is a grassroots, non-profit organization, with members

Come see around the world. It is dedicated to the enhancement and well-being of all interests of the

maritime community on a national and international basis. The Propeller Club Port of Jacksonville

logistics in sponsors UNF as one of 12 Student Ports in the country. Every year the Propeller Club hosts

networking events and very specialized tours of the port. The members also sponsor students to



ACTION!! attend the Coast Guard Appreciation Dinner, State of the Port Luncheon and CEO Spotlight

dinners. The purpose of the Student Port program of the Propeller Club of the United States is to

develop an appreciation of the importance of the maritime industry and encourage young men

and women to pursue a career in this exciting and rewarding field. Mike Sheklin is the UNF

Student Port advisor.

Students that graduate from UNF with a BBA in Transportation & Logistics are urged to

member of take advantage of the AST&L ® blanket waiver program. Recent graduates can receive

the professional designation Certified in Transportation & Logistics (CTL) without further

TLS today! examinations. Students must apply within 6 months of graduation and must be a

student member of AST&L. Students can join AST&L at the time of application for the

I have been the Recruitment Director for TLS since December

2007 and love what I do! I am graduating with an MBA degree

with concentration in Logistics in April 2009. I had no clue

what logistics was about until last year but I always liked the

word "efficient". I guess I was destined for this career... After I

almost lost some body parts in the freezer of Wal-Mart

distribution center during a TLS tour, I felt I just had to know

how this whole system works.
