W hen it comes to choosing the right college, you have a choice. 4,314 choices to be exact.
As you embark on your college decision-making process, you’ll find all kinds of options – from small schools where everyone will know your name, major, and how you did on last week’s math final, to large schools with classes where you can barely see the professor from the back of your 2,000-seat lecture hall. At the University of North Florida, we fall somewhere in the middle – that ideal place where incredible educational opportunity meets a particularly personal atmosphere. Here, you’ll have no problem being yourself in a place small enough to acknowledge your uniqueness and large enough to broaden your horizons.

Campus Setting
O ver the past three years, UNF has spent roughly $175 million on facility improvements
and new construction, including a student union, residence hall, and tens of thousands of square feet of classroom space.
We’re going green!
All new campus construction is built in accordance with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)certified standards.
These new additions to our campus have made a good thing even better. As a UNF student, you can grab lunch, play a game of pool, take a yoga class, catch a movie, stop for a cup of coffee, and watch the sunset on the lake without ever leaving campus!
If you ask our students their favorite aspect of UNF, you’ll hear a chorus of replies touting the unique natural atmosphere of the campus. Our campus core is nestled among 1,300 acres that include nature and wildlife areas. Even though UNF is located close to all the fun and excitement Jacksonville has to offer, you’ll feel like you’re miles away. Take a study break by going for a jog on our five miles of nature trails or check out a canoe to explore the waterways. Even off the nature trails, you’ll notice our regard for keeping the campus beautiful. The landscaping around all our buildings is meticulously maintained year-round.

“UNF has one of the best Jazz Studies programs in the country, and as a musician it is essential that you learn every aspect of music and jazz. I’ve been able to do that here as well as get involved on campus. I have a band and we play at many of the on-campus events. These are always a lot of fun.”

Getting Outside the Classroom
We know that sitting at your desk all day is no way to learn about the world. At UNF,
our goal is to help you bring your studies to life in new ways. Immerse yourself in foreign language study by living abroad for a semester. Learn about the effects of erosion by conducting field studies in nearby waterways. Gain valuable finance experience by managing a real investment fund as part of the Osprey Financial Group. If you like getting your hands dirty (sometimes literally) this is the place for you. Students here are rewarded for taking extra initiative to enrich their college experience. Beyond your work in the classroom, you can apply to participate in a University-funded “Transformational Learning Opportunity.” TLOs have given students the chance to conduct specialized field studies, travel abroad for research, or initiate community outreach projects. Students working on TLOs have the opportunity to partner with UNF faculty to develop their project. Some have even published their collaborative research.

Study Abroad trips are offered for credit in subject areas ranging from Accounting to Psychology, with destinations including Australia, Brazil, China, Egypt, and Italy. Our International Center offers travel scholarship opportunities to make travel more affordable for all students.
