Data Projectors
SVGA projectors :
NEC VT49 Resolution : SVGA £338.00 With the advent of newer, high specification laptops, the NEC VT49 will no longer suffice for most
Brightness : 1600 lumens classroom situations, as more resources need higher quality images, you may wish to consider
Display Type : LCD one of the other projectors that has a better specification in that area
Keystone Correction ? : Yes
Lamp Life : up to 3000 hours
Contrast ratio : 600:1
3 year on-site warranty
Glossary of specification terms :
Epson EMP S5 EDU Resolution : SVGA £342.00 Resolution - this is the display resolution which is measured by the number of dots (horizontal and
Brightness : 1800 lumens vertical) used to create an image. SVGA uses 800x600, whilst XGA uses 1020x768 - please note :
Display Type : LCD most new laptops have a screen with XGA resolution, whilst many 'budget' projectors have a SVGA
Keystone Correction ? : Yes resolution, which means that the display settings on the laptop have to be changed to SVGA to allow an
Lamp Life : up to 2000 hours image to be displayed through the projector (and therefore changed back to XGA again to use the
Contrast ratio : 500:1 laptop away from the projector). This is not a fault - should you not wish to undertake this, you will need
3 year on-site warranty to ensure the laptop is connected to a projector with XGA resolution (however, these models are more
expensive than SVGA models).
Brightness - this is measured in ANSI lumens, the higher the number the brighter the image.
Display type - LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) uses the same technology as a laptop screen to project an
image via a lens, whilst DLP (Digital Light Processing) uses tiny mirrors to reflect colours which form the
image. DLP is the newer technology and thus generally more expensive.
Keystone Correction - this allows projectors that are sited at an unusual angle to the screen to
digitally alter the image to look rectangular.
Contrast Ratio - this is the ratio between white and block, the higher the contrast ratio the better the
colour tones and contrast.
Please note - XGA projectors have superseded SVGA projectors and offer superior
XGA projectors : poerformancce and better value for money.
