Candy Sushi
This program has two options for making candy sushi:
Candy Sushi (microwave needed, otherwise very easy)
Fruit Roll-up Sushi (no bake, no microwave, very simple)

Learn to make candy sushi rolls! At this program, we’ll create Candy Sushi Rolls, write
haikus and watch anime. Ages 13-18.
Icebreaker – Everyone get in a circle. Go around the circle and say your name and the
grossest or strangest thing you’ve ever eaten.
Icebreaker – Each person write a haiku about eating and share. A haiku is a three line
poem. The first and last lines have five syllables while the middle line has seven
syllables. Example:
I love to eat green
Seaweed from the ocean. The
Lobster is jealous.

Candy Sushi (Adjust Recipe depending on projected number of teens)
Ingredients
1 tablespoon butter
12 marshmallows
2 cups crispy toasted rice cereal
4 (4-1/2-inch) square fruit roll-ups (1/2 ounce each)
Swedish fish, gummi bears, gummi worms, dried fruit, juju bees, twizzlers, etc.
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and
stir until completely melted. Remove from the heat and stir in the cereal until
completely coated.
Do This Ahead of Time! The butter and marshmallows can be carefully
microwaved.
2. On a flat surface, unroll the fruit roll-ups. Spread equal amounts of the cereal
mixture over each roll-up, covering the entire surface and packing the mixture
flat.
3. Add different colored fruit snacks on the inside edge leaving about ½” at the edge.
Roll tightly into a log, sealing where the edges meet. Squeeze the rolls gently to
secure. into 1/2-inch pieces. Serve, or store in an airtight container until ready to
serve.
Fruit Sushi (alternative)
Ingredients
Fruit Roll-Ups
Sliced Fruit – strawberry, kiwi, banana, etc
Whipped Cream
Instructions
1. Unroll fruit roll-up.
2. Add a line of whipped cream.
3. Top off with sliced fruit.
4. Roll up into a sushi roll. Cut into pieces.
