Leadership Award At Leeds
FICCI-Yorkshire Forward Sign MoU For Trade & Investment Promotion
NEW DELHI, June 8, 2007. Sir Martin Sorell, CEO, WPP Worldwide, one of the world’s
topmost communications services and advertising companies, has been honoured with
the first FICCI-IIFA Global Business Leadership Award.
The award has been instituted to honor and acknowledge a business leader who has set
a mark globally with his innovation, entrepreneurship and vision.
The FICCI-IIFA award was bestowed on Sir Sorrell at the conclusion of the Global
Business Forum (GBF) meeting at Leeds on Thursday (June 7, 200), by Mr. Habil
Khorakiwala, FICCI President; Lord Karan Billimoria, CEO Cobra Beer; and Mr. Tom
Riodon, CEO, Yorkshire Forward.
FICCI and Yorkshire Forward signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on
Thursday, at the valedictory session of GBF, for the promotion of trade and investment
opportunities for the member companies and regions.
Both FICCI and Yorkshire Forward agreed to offer mutual assistance in promoting
general understanding of the market and investment situation in their respective
countries and areas as also to organize various activities with the view to promoting
business opportunities in India and the UK to the benefit of the members of both
organizations.
This MoU was signed by Ms. Ambika Sharma, Assitant Secretary General, FICCI and Mr.
Tom Riodom, CEO, Yorkshire Forward, in the presence of India’s Civil Aviation Minister,
Mr. Praful Patel, and over 500 Indian and UK delegates. The valedictory session was
addressed by cinestar, Mr Amitabh Bachchan, Mr Nessadia, the Sports Minister of the UK,
and Mr Richard Cabon Simon Lee, University Vice Chancellor of Leeds Metropolitan
