THE BEATLES - various MIDI files.
ALL IN GENERAL MIDI FORMAT (Drums Channel 10 etc.)
This is an edited collection of the various Beatles files knocking around
the Internet - I've tweaked a few notes, changed a few program sounds (or
'patches' as I believe you GUS guys like to call them), converted from
various formats and saved them all i
Many many thanks to all the people who sequenced these originally - some of
the text files have been separated from these sequences somewhere along the
line and I apologise profusely to their original transcribers for not
crediting them.
The files are -
BECAUSE.MID - Because (!??)
BIRTHDAY.MID - (you say it's your) Birthday - converted from MT-32 format
CANTBUYM.MID - Can't buy me love - translated from the brash synthy version
on the archive
ELEANOR.MID - Eleanor Rigby - Nice acoustic & stringy arrangement - none of
those multiple drum tracks that seem to be on all the
versions (four in total?) I've come across.
FOOLHILL.MID - Fool on the Hill - Quiet acoustic version - apologies for
the voicings if they're wrong - my Beatles compilation tape
was eaten by the dog.
GUITRWEP.MID - While my Guitar Gently Weeps - converted from MT-32
HEY_JUDE.MID - no , go on guess.
HONEYPIE.MID - ditto
I_WILL - ditto ditto
IMWALRUS - I am the Walrus
LETITBE.MID - Let It Be - storming organ solo.
OBLADIDA.MID - Ob-La-Di-Ob-La-Da etc.
PENNYLAN.MID - Penny Lane
STRAWBRY.MID - Strawberry Fields Forever - excellent version of a great
song (sorry to be so sycophantic)
YESTERDY.MID - Yesterday - nice quiet acoustic version, as it should be.
All these were downloaded at some point over the last six months and
converted via a 2.5Mb Atari STFM running a (legitimate) version of Cubase
v.2. All voicings, pannings, reverb levels, chorus levels etc. are
embedded in each track so those of you with exotic sound cards or synth
modules that don't like them will have to dig 'em out and sort 'em
out. Sorry. Tested on Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 (mark 1 I think -anyway,
the first one that came out) for GM compatability - and they all work.
One final plea - will those of you nice enough to upload MIDI stuff onto
the Internet, actually send it in a format we can all use - i.e. Standard
MIDI Files (that's why they're called Standard!) - I can just about convert
from Cakewalk .WRK format but an
PLEASE E-MAIL ANYTHING - comment, criticisms, 'you didn't credit me with
that sequence and I'm going to sue' etc. to :
zchag05@ucl.ac.uk (valid until July 95)
Who knows, if enough people send me message, I may well upload some more
stuff (original compositions etc. - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED)
Have a Fab-Four-Tastic time listening to these.
Enjoy !!
ALEXI
P.S. If anyone out there has any MIDI sequences for Peter Gabriel (NOT
Sledgehammer), Depeche Mode, Thomas Dolby, or The The, could they please
drop me a line ? I'd love to hear from you; no, really I would. Ta.
