Import Data Overview
Import Company Data
You can import all or part of your company’s data into this database. All import data tables are formatted
as Comma Separated Values or CSV tables. You should be familiar with this type of file in order to
proceed with this feature. There are separate routines for importing Company Contact Data and Life &
Annuity Data. The import data controls are in the upper right corners of the Company Contact Data Entry
and Life & Annuity Data Entry boxes on the Main Menu.

Import Company Contact Data
Figure 1: Import Table Selection. Here you will select the Comma Separated Values file you will be
importing. The company file is called COINFO.CSV (see layout below). This will make the data in your CSV
table available for import into the database.
All fields are required, except Line 2 Address. If any text field contains a comma (which is used as the
field separator), the entire field must be enclosed in quotes. If you will be filing for more than 1 company,
you can include multiple companies in the same table, but you must load and work with only 1 company
at a time in the database. You may want to create duplicates of the database for each company you will be
filing.
Figure 2: Import Company Contact Data. Once the CSV table has been imported, you need to select the
company to load into the database and click “Import the COMPANY CONTACT Data for:” to actually load
the data into the database. In this example, only 1 company is available. After the company data is loaded,
your import will be confirmed. After you complete importing and loading your Company Contact Data, click
the button at the lower left will close this form and return to the Main Menu.

Figure 3: Import Table Location Selection. Here you will indicate the folder where the Comma Separated
Values files you will be importing exist. The Life & Annuity files are called Sc1.csv, Sc2.csv, Sc3.csv, Sc4.csv
and Sc5.csv (see layout below). This will make the data in your CSV table available for import into the
database. You can select and open any of the tables listed; the database will import Sc1.csv (if available) for
Schedule 1 data, Sc2.csv (if available) for Schedule 2 data, etc. If the database does not find any files named
Sc1.csv, Sc2.csv, Sc3.csv, Sc4.csv or Sc5.csv no data will be imported.
All fields are required. If you will be filing for more than 1 company, you can include multiple companies
in the same table, but you must load and work with only 1 company at a time in the database. You may
want to create duplicates of the database for each company you will be filing. Only records with matching
NAIC codes, schedule identifiers and states will be loaded. You must enter or load the Company’s
Contact Information prior to attempting to import and load MCAS data. Only MCAS records with the
NAIC code matching the entered NAIC code will be imported.
Figure 4: This form shows which data records can be loaded. You only need to include lines for states and
schedules for which you have data to report. Click “Load All” to load all available data into the database. Or
click the “Load” button(s) for each of schedule(s) you want to load. In this example, Schedule 1 data for
Illinois, Schedule 3 data for Maryland and Schedules 2, 3, 4 and 5 for Ohio can be loaded. After the data is
loaded, your import will be confirmed. After you complete importing and loading your MCAS data, click the
button at the lower left will close this form and return to the Main Menu.
