Include these things in your appeal packet:
1. Completed Appeal Cover Sheet
2. Letter from you explaining why you believe your appeal is merited. Specifically address the areas being
appealed (e.g., Low GRE-Q score? Why are you a good candidate in spite of this score? How do you know you
can do the quantitative work in this degree?)
3. Letter from your major professor or a faculty member in the program to which you are applying who
knows you and your work. Have the program coordinator and the department chair also sign off on this
letter. The letter should explain why you are qualified to be in the program given the specifics of the appeal. (e.g.:
low GRE V score? How the student has shown verbal aptitude and performance in the work done to date and
what life experiences suggest to the faculty this student can do the reading and writing required for the degree or
program?). You can include letters from the coordinator and chair, but these are not required nor generally
necessary.
4. Transcripts of all graduate work attempted (Unofficial copies OK, SIMS printouts are NOT OK)

6. A brief résumé showing your name, student ID#, places of employment, positions and titles, experiences…

graduate level
You must assemble all documents and deliver them complete and signed to the Department Program Assistant who verifies
their completeness and then forwards the set to the Associate Dean for Educator Preparation and Academic Affairs. The set
must arrive in the Dean’s Office on or before the next GAC deadline to appear on that GAC agenda. Packets arriving
incomplete are returned. Complete packets arriving after the GAC deadline will be held until the next scheduled meeting.
