1. INTRODUCTION







1.1 PURPOSE OF THIS RESEARCH





The purpose of this dissertation is to discuss the impact of small, medium, and large

scale industries in Bangladesh. Just think a day with out internet and with out electronic

communication, we can’t imagine what effects will make in the world. One of the big

industries in the world is the Information Technology industry. After growing this

information technology industry lot of belongings were made in the small scale, medium

scale and large scale industries. Survival and growth is very good in the small scale industry

but it depends on the ability to work, innovative ideas, improving strategic operations

efficiency and ability to increase productivity. In this research work I am going to consider

different small scale industries, medium scale industries and large scale industries. In order to

co-ordinate the computerization activities of government and semi government agencies are

operating with the help of Information Technology in the Bangladesh. The present

government recognized information technology as the primary for providing different

services to small scale industries, medium scale industries and large scale industries, medium

scale industries and large scale industries. The Information Technology is playing a vital role

in performing different operational activities in the communication with different

organization and different departments within the organization. World Trade organization

was conducted one survey on the small, medium and large scales industries in the

Bangladesh. Also we are going to evaluate the things based on that survey only. Finally I

have given different from this dissertation project report.

This research concentrates on analyzing IT impacts on small, medium, and large

industries in Bangladesh. The main role of information technology is evolving rapidly in the

world. There is need to improve industries according to the changes happening in the

technical world , as provisions are changing due to the improvement in technologies quickly

there should be a change in technology, and I am going to analyze how industries are

impacting with this rapid change of information technology in Bangladesh. Most of the

countries are looking for improving small scale organizations for improving their economy,

and Bangladesh is integrating into the global trading and different small scale industries,

medium scale industries and large scale industries by different developed oriented

organizations.





During the past two decades Bangladesh has undertaken different background newly

coming projects. The background of different new projects includes automated software for

customs data and direct traders input. However the expected outcomes of different proposals

are observed and the usefulness of the developments from such proposals could not be

recognized as these projects failed for ensuring a paperless customs clearance process. In the

literature review of this dissertation concentrates on the analysis of information technology in

Bangladesh, the current situation outline, and this dissertation evaluated the information

technology in literature review part for identifying the information technology impacts on

small scale industries, medium scale industries and large scale industries.





This dissertation was identified that Bangladesh had recently undertaken a project for

automating the Chittagong Customs House with a technical support from a local Information

Technology association known as Datasoft Systems Limited in Bangladesh. The Chittagong

Customs House is using information technology for creating an environment that is favorable

for conducting business in the private sector and for ensuring greater revenue earnings by

accelerating customs clearance procedures. The underlying objective of such an environment

is to facilitate for operating their operations successfully. Now a day’s every business

operations are operating with the help of internet and w can say that information technology

is very crucial for any business organization. This research is concentrating on customs

operations for evaluating information technology impact on small to large scale industries. In

the conclusion of this dissertation specifies how the information technology impacts on small

scale industries, medium scale industries and large scale industries in Bangladesh.





1.2 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN DIFFERENT SCALES OF INDUSTRIES:





We can define this industry based on the technique of the production. This

people are using modern driven electronic or electrical machines and employ some number

of labors as well. These industries are getting raw material from the out side, if that is not

available from local places. These types of industries are larger than the cottage industries.

This knowledge will give very good future for my life about electronic business concept.

Bangladesh would appear to group many of the elements that contributed to the success seen

in developed countries. These products will be sold by the local market traders. Most of the

developing countries are depending on the small scale industries only for improving their

economy values and effectiveness. India and China is the best example for large number of

small scale industries these are different types of cloths, toys, different furniture models,

leather related products and more. World trade organization has conducted on survey on the

Bangladesh country small scale, medium scale and large scale industries. Based on that

automated system values we are going to evaluate all different scales industries. As shown in

the below figure how the different types of the industries are working based on the

Here we are going to do research work on the lot of industries, the figure shows

different types of industries which are using the information systems for operating their

operations with an effective environment and for doing things with ease of use. Some of the

industries are operating only information technology operations. Bangladesh is having more

small and medium scale industries but less large scale industries. not the matter whether the

industry is large or small there is need to use information technology in their operations for

operating with their operations with their clients as well as with their employees and the

industries should communicate with all their clients by using traditional technologies for

saving general sources like time, money, and the industry will get better output by using

these new technologies, these are provided by the information systems, by this discussion we

can say that the information technology is showing high impact on small, medium, and large

scale industries. In this dissertation I am going to analyze the impact of information

technology on these small, medium, and large scales organizations individually through the

analysis information technology impact on different scales of industries in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has relatively long experience in the use of computers within their different

industrial and different organizational sectors. First I am concentrating this dissertation on

the analysis what is the role of information systems and what are the small, medium and

large scale industries operating in Bangladesh and this analysis ends with the discussion to

the actual goal i. e, the impact of information management on small, medium, and large scale

industries. In the analysis of information technology I am concentrating on what operations

are using information technology and what are the advantages of information systems and

what are the disadvantages of information systems. How this information systems features

impact on the small, medium, and large scale industries affect on the Bangladesh. The

information system is useful in every activity for operating operations effectively. Every day

a technology or a set of technologies are coming along with different approaches and that are

offering a rich set of components that can be combined and recombined for producing new

products.





The arrival of different components sets of a technology boom as innovators work

through different possibilities. Information technology is the combined result of computer

and communication technologies. Information technology can be used to refer an entire

industry information technology is the use of computers and software for managing the

information of an industry. The services provided by the information technology are the

information services. The information technology department of a large scale industry would

be responsible for storing organizational information, and need to protect the stored

information with different technologies from unauthorized accessing, processing of the

stored information for operating with different operations effectively to produce better

outcome, and if necessary the stored information need to transfer from one department to

another department or one organization to another if necessary. One more operation of the

impact of information Technology on small scale industries, medium scale industries and large

scale industries in Bangladesh. The information technology is comprised of computers that

need to be used in different departments in an industry for performing organizational daily

activities and for storing, protecting, and for protecting the stored data, networks for

providing connections between different nodes within the department, within the

organization and with different industries for communicating with each other easily with high

speed, low cost and with greater accuracy, satellite communications for providing network

connections.





There are different goals an information technology in small, medium and large scale

industries are to participate with organization customers for understanding business processes

and needs. To align technology throughout the city in small scale industries, to align

technology throughout the country in medium scale industries and to align technology

throughout the world in large scale industries, the information technology is vital. To provide

reliable and scalable organizational infrastructure within the scope of an industry, the

information technology is very helpful.





The emergence of information technology sets a different trend in the economy

production and profitability schemes of small scale industries, medium scale industries, and

large scale industries. Information Technology has changed the complete world into a

worldwide financial system which gradually more dependent the creative administration and

distribution of information. Developing countries are also representing an enormous and

largely unexploited marketplace for different large businesses and different environments for

providing different services and for getting better benefits. Bangladesh does have moderately

Main purpose of the study is to know about the information technology impacts on

the small scale, medium scale and large scale industries. In this research work I am going to

do the quantitative work on the information technology impacts. Due to the nature and the

speed of technological innovations accompanying organizational changes, the developing

countries are finding more difficult for keeping up the technological gap between the

developed and developing countries is increasing rapidly day to day. The indirect impact is

usually more immediate relevance than direct impact from the introduction of new

information technologies in Bangladesh. The impact of information technology on small

scale industries, medium scale industries and large scale industries can be considered

includes different changes in the industrial activities for getting better outcomes and for

operating different types of operations for performing with ease and with an effective

outcome. All work related tasks and applications are totally automated with the help of

Information Technology. Information Technology professionals are involved in essential

management of service data. There are so many advantages for using Information

The dissertation analysis of Information Technology on large scale industries are find

outs that the large scale industries on the other hand have their own individual, well prepared

and highly functional employees and these employees would develop software applications

and work on several Information Technology requirements of the industrial businesses of

different sectors. This work I am going to do work based on the global survey for removing

barriers to small scale, medium scale and large scale international industrial markets. The

Information Technology in Bangladesh is growing rapidly as the changes in different

The research of this dissertation analyzed what is the information technology, and

what are the different medium scale industries. The Information Technology firm that the

medium scale industry are approached would deal with different software applications and

Information Technology applications like internet marketing for global communication and

email marketing applications for local and global communication, web hosting and different

promotions for additional organizational requirements. The analysis identifies that the

impact of information technology on medium scale industries and find out that these medium

scale organizations are also like small scale industries need to buy different software

applications for operating with different management activities within their industrial

activities, different functional needs and for different business tasks of an organization. For

performing all these activities in an industry, there should be an approach for contacting

Information Technology firm for getting different services according to their industrial needs.





The Information Technology firm that the medium scale industry are approached

would deal with different software applications and Information Technology applications like

global communication, web hosting and different promotions for additional organizational

requirements. These medium scale industries are capable for developing different software

applications for operating their activities but this type of industries have limited capability for

developing applications on their own, they are capable for developing some extent of the

applications but this research identified that the medium scale organizations should approach

any Information Technology firm for getting better services and for providing better

outcomes.





Automobile manufacturing industries use computers for guiding manufacturing

departments and for different designing tools for functioning in an accurate manner in the

large scale industries. This discussion concludes that the large scale organizations also should

use the Information Technology for operating with their own services and for providing

universe no matter about small scale industries, medium scale industries and large scale

industries have to take the support of information technology in some way.









The dissertation analysis of Information Technology on large scale industries are find

outs that the large scale industries on the other hand have their own individual, well prepared

and highly functional employees and these employees would develop software applications

and work on several Information Technology requirements of the industrial businesses of

different sectors. As the large scale industries are providing various high quality and highly

technical services, the manufacturing industries would make the use of different servers and

different databases for storing their huge data regarding inventory, business to business,

business to company, and in different sectors for providing different technological services to

the different types of organizations.





Bangladesh has relatively very long experience in the use of computers within their

organizations, within different industrial and different organizational sectors. First this

dissertation concentrated on the analysis of what is the role of information systems and what

are the small, medium and large scale industries operating in Bangladesh. This analysis ends

with the discussion to the actual goal i. e, the impact of information management on small,

medium, and large scale industries.





Analysis information of this technology concentrated on what operations are using

information technology and what are the advantages of information systems those are useful

in operating with small scale, medium scale and large scale industries. what are the

disadvantages of information systems. How this information systems features were impacted

on the small, medium, and large scale industries with in the Bangladesh. The information
