Summary:
Thompson & Bender is Westchester’s premier Advertising and PR agency. Founded in 1986 our company has
been dedicated to environmental stewardship for more than 20 years. We practice sustainability within our
office and encourage our clients to adopt the “green” principles we practice. Our commitment to “being
green” continues to grow through the diligent and dedicated efforts of our management and employees.
Initial Goals/Environmental Initiatives:
• Implement green printing options for client printed materials, convert to green cleaning supplies.
• Reduce waste, and implement comprehensive recycle program for all employees.
• Determine strategies to reduce energy use.
• Locate a place to donate old computers.
• Reduce employee travel miles.
Key Results:
• Specify soy based inks, and recycled paper for client projects. Use biodegradable cleaning supplies.
• Purchased washable plates and mugs for breakroom. Recycle bottles, cans, paper, cardboard and ink
cartridges, have recycle bins in every office.
• Reduced energy use by turning down thermostats and water heater on weekends, and using energy
efficient bulbs.
• Donate old computer equipment to the local United Way partner program.
• Use employee carpools and link multiple stops to reduce employee travel miles.
Next Steps:
• Increase use of electronic copies for clients, instead of printed materials.
• Use Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper for client printed materials.
• Encourage clients to implement more green practices.
