Spirit’s really really funny
greeting cards
Spirit Publishing, the sole licensee of America’s top humour
card range from Recycled Paper Greetings (RPG), continuously
launches more pre-tested best sellers to retailers in Australia
and New Zealand.
New cards continue to complement the range, which is suitable
for all ages and occasions, and includes a number of slightly
naughty designs that take the mickey out of getting older.
New cards are released every month, constantly expanding the
existing RPG Australian portfolio to well over 200 different
designs. Every card design is unique yet each card shares the
common objective—to make people laugh and increase sales
for retailers.
“Most people who enter a store to buy a card will always stop to
read the humour section first. They are also more likely to buy
humour on impulse as well as to multi-purchase cards with
particular people in mind,” says Ms Bradner, founder and
Managing Director of Spirit Publishing.
While the card designs and humorous lines are crafted in
America, Spirit selects cards that meet the local market’s belly
laugh criteria.
“Australians tend to be open to all kinds of humour. Generally
they prefer the more risque or ‘out there’ style of humour which
RPG is renowned for,” says Ms Bradner.
For Spirit, it’s not only about making people laugh, it’s about
pocket turns and profit turnover for the retailer. Every design
has been market tested in the States and is selected from a
profit performance report. In addition, each card is individually
bar coded so retailers can accurately measure the card’s sales.
Most cards in the market don’t have this security of
performance measurement.
“Often company’s compile statistics through customer
perception polls, which can be manipulated to show their
product in a better light. The proof is really in the sales — just
ask our customers and they will tell you Spirit’s RPG selection
is a strong contributor in providing turnover for their stores,”
concludes Ms Bradner.
