SUBJECT: Discuss Intersection Access to Airport Drive

RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
Staff recommends no change to the intersection access to Airport Drive at
Enloe Road and Greenville Street.
ITEM SUMMARY:
During the April 30th Work Session, City Council requested staff review the
possible closure of access to Airport Drive at Enloe Road.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
In December, 2005, the City of McKinney completed construction of Airport
Drive from US 380 to FM 546.
Since the opening of Airport Drive, barricades have blocked access at
Greenville Street.
On June 15, 2006 Staff presented four neighborhood access options to
Airport Drive at a neighborhood public meeting as outlined below:
OPTION 1 - Block access at BOTH Enloe & Greenville.
Nine (9) Households favored this option.
OPTION 2 – Allow access to Airport Drive at BOTH Enloe & Greenville.
Nine (9) Households favored this option.
OPTION 3 - Keep Greenville closed and Enloe open at Airport.
Seven (7) Households favored this option.
OPTION 4 - Open Greenville & close Enloe at Airport
No (0) Households favored this option.
On July 17, 2006 Staff received direction from City Council to keep Enloe
Road open at Airport Drive.
The Police Department and the Fire Department have both recommended
Enloe Road remain open at Airport Drive.
McKinney Independent School District and Durham School Services
recommend Enloe Road remain open at Airport Drive.
