The User Experience

Overview
The user initiated 3D Page Cube ad experience is served out of a 300x250. The 3D Page Cube will first spin then
expand its 6 side’s non user initiated to engage the user. On mouse over the 3D Page Cube will spin to the left and
reveal its 3D user interaction. All expansion of the 3D Page Cube experience will be on user initiation only.

     1. User visits a page scripted with the 300x250. The 3D Page Cube will first spin then expand its 6 side’s non
        user initiated to engage the user.
     2. On mouse over the 3D Page Cube will spin to the left and reveal its 3D user interaction.
     3. The user will have options to replay animation and expand.
     4. On expand the 3D Page Cube will spin page content downward to reveal an larger expanded 3D Page Cube
        with 6 faces containing advertiser content.
     5. On close the Cube will spin upward to reveal page content.
     6. All expansion of the 3D Page Cube experience will be on user initiation only.

Ad Specifications

      All Elements
           o Ad Click through opens into new browser
           o Flash elements: Flash 10, Action Script 3.0 enabled
           o Cannot exceed 24 frames per second
           o Back-up image: .gif /. jpg
           o Must provide user with opportunity to close any float and/or expanded panel with “Close X” button
               contained within the flash stage area, ideally at upper right
           o Replay button for any video/float/Expand unit is suggested, but not required
           o Primary creative MUST contain graphics on initial page load and maintain the appearance of being
               fully functional via click through or click to expand

   Float Element
         Float element contains a pre-scripted 3D Cube animation which spans 7 seconds
         The 3D Cube consists of six (6) 200x200 static images (.gif / .jpg / .png)
               Images will be textured onto the 4 side faces and the top and bottom faces of the 3D Cube.
         Cannot cover the MSN Search Bar or upper Navigation Bar
         Total image size no larger than 200x200 pixels
         Must be constantly moving
         Cannot remain static (covering content) for more than 2 seconds
         Float cannot have a background image covering the entire stage size (disabling content)
         Float must have close button during animation sequence allowing user to close the float experience
         Float experience has a frequency cap of once per user per day
         Float should contain a “Replay” button




   300x250 Banner
       o After the Float pre-scripted 3D Cube animation has resolved into the banner, an additional 8 seconds
          of animation is permitted within the 300x250
               For backup image: animation limited to 15 seconds. Can loop if within 15 second limit
       o Banner may consist of one (1) 300x250 Background image or .fla (optional)
               If provided, the background asset will be displayed behind the 3D Cube once the pre-scripted
                   3D Cube animation ends
               When designing the background asset, the design should account for a 200x200 3D Cube to
                   be positioned within the 300x250
       o Cannot exceed 50k total file weight in flash (includes float element)
       o Cannot have constantly animating elements
       o Creative must feature a 1 pixel border (gray [#666666] or black recommended, though any color that
          clearly distinguishes the ad from the content may be used)
       o Full 300x250 unit should initiate the UI-Panel
       o Audio Permitted: Yes, available on user click only, off by default
       o Video Permitted: Yes, Streaming only




   964x966 3D Page Cube
       o One (1) 964x966 source .fla published as Flash 10 with Action Script 3.0 enabled
       o 3D Page Cube supports design content on up to Six (6) Faces, including:
               Four (4) side faces and two (2) optional top face and bottom of the 3D Cube
       o Each of the Cube faces should be set up within a separate movie clip. Each movie clip should be
          placed on a separate layer
       o Dimensions: 964x966, with recommended maximum design area of 964x525 in order for active
          content to be viewable by screen resolutions of 1024x768 wide. Overall panel should contain
          shadowing around edges.
       o The smaller 3D Navigation Cube will be constructed using the same Six (6) 200x200 static images
          from the Float
       o Transition cube face should match branding on 300x250 unit
       o The smaller 3D Navigation Cube faces should correspond with the larger 3D Content Cube
       o Clicking the bottom of smaller 3D Navigation Cube will close the 3D Page Cube experience
       o Max Flash File Size for Each Face: 500k
       o Audio Permitted: Yes
       o Video Permitted: Yes, Streaming only

        Host-initiated video may be used in any portion of the experience.
        Video duration: 30 seconds max
        Companion audio may be included with video


Other Specifications

General Creative Design Requirements

        The Frames per second (FPS) should not exceed 18fps. Settings greater than 18fps will result in poor
         performance for many of our users and is not allowed.
        Audio must be user-initiated and never automatic
        Audio insertion into flash file may begin no earlier than the second frame.
        If audio is used, creative must include an On/Off switch for users.
        All DHTML creative submissions need to have an accompanying default graphic that is shown to users that do
         not have IE 4.0 or higher.
        Animation is limited to first 15 seconds, looping is unlimited within 15 seconds. Use animation carefully: Keep
         animation smooth and fluid, using slow motions and gentle fades. Fast and abrupt motion has been shown to
         be highly irritating. Avoid experiences that 'break-through' the page or abuse the content.
        Ad opens into new browser.
