Sigma Sigma Sigma
Alpha Phi
Dear Family Member,
On behalf of our chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, I would like to tell
you how excited we all are to share our sisterhood with your daughter and watch
her grow in our bonds. My name is Allison Walsh and I am the Vice President and
New Member Educator of the Alpha Phi chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma here at
Central Michigan University. As New Member Educator, I will be working closely
with all of the New Members throughout their eight-week new member period. I
plan to serve as a resource, friend, and role model while helping New Members
develop strong leadership skills and irreplaceable memories in Sigma Sigma Sigma.
This sisterhood means something different to each woman and we cannot wait to
share our amazing and life changing experiences with your daughter.
Tri Sigma’s eight-week New Member program focuses on our National
Mission Statement: to insure a perpetual bond of friendship, to promote strong
womanly character, and to promote high standards of conduct. New Members will
quickly be integrated into chapter life by activities with their New Member class,
Founder’s Groups, Arc Groups, and family trees. Study hours, weekly chapter
meetings, and sisterhood programs provide structure and support throughout the
new member period and beyond. Tri Sigma’s New Member Program focuses on
team building, goal setting, and philanthropic programs. Be sure to ask your
daughter about these things, I’m sure she is eager to share!
While it may seem like there is a lot going on, I promise that your daughter
will not be forced to do anything against her will. Anything that our New Members
are required to participate in, our initiated sisters do as well. Tri Sigma has a zero
tolerance hazing policy, and I have added our official policy at the end of this letter
for you to read.
My goal as Sigma Sigma Sigma’s Vice President is to keep open lines of
communication. If at any time you or other family members have any questions
about the New Member program, please let me know. ‘Going Greek’ can be a
confusing concept for some families (including my own when I first joined Tri
Sigma) and I want you to feel that you are a part of the process. Joining a sorority
was by far the best decision I have made in my college career. I can only hope that
your daughters get the same experience out of Tri Sigma that I, and many of my
sisters, have. This group of women will teach your daughter so much about herself
and you will be surprised at the amazing woman that she will become when she has
the love of 70 other sisters.
I have included the contact information for all of our Officer Board members
and our Chapter Advisor. To learn more about Sigma Sigma Sigma, please feel free
to visit our National Website at www.sigmasigmasigma.org.
Thank you in advance for supporting your daughter during her Tri Sigma
experience. Our chapter looks forward to providing a new family and sisterhood for
your daughter when she is away from home.
Sigma Love and Mine,
Allison Walsh
