This Kano analysis focuses on data collected through a survey of 1,280 Chinese business printer
users in six major vertical markets in China: manufacturing; government; services; education;
transportation/distribution; and banks/insurance/securities. Lyra Research presented the
survey participants with 25 printer features to ascertain which are important to and will excite
Chinese business printer users and buyers. Each participant was presented with a pair of printer
features. For each printer feature, respondents were asked how they would feel if a printer has
that feature and how they would feel if a printer does not have that feature.
This method uncovered some findings that indicate both good news and bad news for printer
makers. The good news is that many printer features still excite Chinese business users, but the
bad news is that Chinese business users appear to be more or less happy with the status quo.
New or improved features excite them, but they can get by without them.
