Sell, Sell, Sell, your Canadian
Province!
Name___________________
Objective: You have been hired by the Canadian Tourist
Board to sell the province you live in to the tourists of the
world.
Task: Your task is to create a well rounded presentation
that combines technology, and good ole’ fashion sales
tactics to make your product (your province) the most appealing to the
audience.
Procedure:
1. Research your province for information that answers this basic
question “Why should people come visit your province.”
a. Ex. Special attractions, historical attractions (mines, museums, historical
buildings) famous people who are from there or live there, natural
beauty, economy, culture, food, natural resources, shopping,
music, people, etc.
b. You must research and include the following information:
i. Natural resources, and chief manufactured product.
ii. Demographics, highlighting diversity
iii. Celebrations
iv. First Nation people in your province.
v. Province geography. What does your province look like?
2. Come up with a sales pitch. What is going to be the slogan or hook that
will attract me to your Province? Remember, this will need to be something
that will stick in my mind! Think about commercial jingles or hooks. Ex.
“just do it”, “I’m loving it”, “They're magically delicious”, etc.
3. Create a PowerPoint presentation that will be the focal point to
your presentations. Make it in a logical order where your sales pitch is
the highlight of the presentation. Create the presentation so that it is
flashy, exciting, and enticing…but not distracting. Remember you are trying
to get me to spend all my vacation money in your province. No more
than 8 slides.
4. Your presentation also needs to have one element that is NOT
technology based. This would be something memorable that you could
give to your audience to help them remember who you are and where you
are from.
Ideas
i. Buttons V. Goodie Bag
ii. Food VI. Example of Native Art
iii. Music VII. Picture of your location
iv. A song/rap
Assessment: You and your partner will be assessed on your
presentation. Your grade will be focused on the following criteria.
- Required research material
- PowerPoint Presentation
- Ability to speak in front of the class
- Balanced presentation from both partners
- Your slogan/hook.
- Your memorable product that you give to your audience.
- Your ability to sell your province. “Why should people come visit
your province.” Not a report, a presentation.
Good luck, and have fun.
