OGT Tutoring Program FWS Site Coordinator Positions
OGT Tutoring Program Description:
At Collinwood and John Adams High School, JCU students tutor and mentor teens to help them prepare
for the Ohio Graduation Test and life after senior year. Throughout the semester, OGT tutors engage in
weekly one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to review key concepts in science, social studies and
math, practice test-taking skills and, explore post-secondary opportunities. In order to participate,
students are required to fill out an online application and attend an intensive OGT Tutor training at the
beginning of their semester of service.
Student Coordinator Job Description (2 positions available, one for Collinwood High School, one for
John Adams High School)
OGT Tutoring Program Student Coordinators are responsible for assisting the Program Coordinator with
the overall support of the OGT Tutoring program during both the Fall and Spring semesters. Student
Coordinators are assigned to either Collinwood or John Adams high school and are responsible for:
assisting in the recruitment, orientation and training of new tutors twice annually, bi-weekly service as a
student leader and tutor at their designated high school, regular communication with tutors placed at
their designated high school, developing resources at the request of tutors to support them in their
work, assisting with the coordination of high school student field trips to JCU, and administering year
end evaluations to tutors.
Student Coordinators should demonstrate an ability to work well both independently and with others,
strong organizational skills and a knowledge of basic teaching methods and educational psychology.
Students with tutoring or teaching experience with high school students are preferred for this position.
Student Coordinators are paid $8.50/hr and are expected to commit up to 10-12 hours per week
(includes bi-weekly service as an OGT tutor). Students eligible for Federal Work Study are preferred.
