Installation Instructions for McAfee VirusScan Enterprise v.8.7
for Windows Vista (off-campus)
IMPORTANT: If you have a previous version of McAfee installed on your computer, please uninstall
before proceeding.
Off-campus users: Note that you cannot get to the UCit Software Page without first connecting to
the UC VPN Client. You need a UCRA account to login to the VPN client.

Click here to download the VPN client.
1. Click the link to download ucvse87i.zip file and select “Open.”
2. Click on “Extract All Files” once the download is complete.
3. An Extraction wizard will appear on your screen. Change the destination path to “C:\McAfee”
and check the box below that says “Show extracted files from complete.” Then click “Extract.”
4. Once it’s finished, a new window will pop up. Double-click on “setupvse” to open the
installation wizard.
5. If you get a screen asking if you want to run the file, click Run.
6. At the first setup screen, click Next.
7. At the License Agreement screen, change the License Expiry Type to “Perpetual” and select the
option “I accept the terms in the license agreement.” Click OK to continue.
8. Choose “Typical” for the setup type. Click Next.
9. When asked to select the Access Protection Level, select Standard Protection and click Next.
10. Click Next to begin the installation.
11. Once the primary installation is complete, a new window will open prompting you to install the
McAfee AntiSpyware Enterprise Module. Click “Next” to continue.
12. Set the License Expiry type to “Perpetual” and click the option at the bottom “I accept the terms
in the license agreement.” Click OK to continue.
13. Once the AntiSpyware Module installation is complete, click “Finish” to continue.
14. You will be brought back to the original McAfee VirusScan installation. Check the box “Update
Now” and click Finish.
15. A box will come up and run the automatic definition updates to get your computer up to date.
Once it’s finished, click Close.
16. You may get prompted with the message below. If you do, click OK to continue, and select
“Yes” to reboot when you’re ready.
Once the computer is restarted, the installation will be complete. A V-shield will appear on your
taskbar, indicating that the installation was successful and your computer is protected.
