Combat Dining Out 2009
The University of Cincinnati Air Force ROTC Detachment 665 will hold its annual Dining-Out Ceremony at 5 p.m., Saturday, May 2, at the Kolping Center, located at 10235 Mill Rd Cincinnati, OH 45231. The Dining-Out Ceremony is a formal event centered on commemorating our graduating senior cadets. The guest speaker is Colonel Christopher Coombs, who serves as the Commander, 703d Aeronautical Systems Group, Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Colonel Coombs was born in Honolulu, HI. He was commissioned in 1985 after completing the University of Central Florida's Air Force ROTC program. He has held various assignments in communications and computer units and acquisition units across the full spectrum of electronic systems, space systems, aerospace systems and weapon systems. Staff assignments have included positions with Strategic Air Command, Headquarters Strategic Communications Division, Headquarters Air Armament Center and Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC). Prior to assuming his current position, Colonel Coombs served as Deputy Director, 303d Aeronautical Systems Group, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
Dining-Out replicates a formal military ball and allows cadets to learn etiquette as well as customs and courtesies. The ceremony gives cadets a chance to invite a date and/or their families to an ROTC event so that they may see a sample of what we do here at Detachment 665. The evening will begin with dinner followed by an awards ceremony, the Senior Promenade and remarks from the guest speaker, and will draw to a close with dancing. Seniors will be honored as they walk through an arch of sabers performed by the AFROTC Color Guard.
Many cadets have put a lot of time and effort in planning this ceremony, which is why it has been such a success in the past. All of the cadets are very excited about this year’s event as they will have a chance to congratulate their upper-class cadets and share in a great time.
