Visit archeological sites; then fast-forward centuries and walk through the well-preserved colonial center of Querétaro, designated a World Cultural Heritage site by the United Nations. In the University of Cincinnati Summer Program in Querétaro, you will spend six weeks traveling, studying and learning about Mexico. The home-stay experience allows you not only to learn about the culture, but also to live it. Located in central Mexico, Querétaro provides easy access to many other interesting places. Visit Mexico City, 125 miles to the south, Guadalajara, 220 miles to the west, or quaint San Miguel de Allende, only an hour away. On the ITESM Campus Querétaro you will enjoy a host of extra-curricular activities, tied to the curriculum, including theater, field trips and service learning. Enhance your course work with workshops on music, art, creative writing, dance, cuisine, and more. The program includes field trips to Mexico City and the pyramids at Teotiuacán, and the colonial city of Guanajuato ITESM Campus Querétaro boasts an excellent sports program. Take a break from studying to enjoy the sports facilities, which include aerobics, weigh-lifting, volleyball, tennis, basketball, football and soccer, swimming, track & field. Or, chat with friends at the sidewalk cafes and restaurants where you enjoy real Mexican food. The campus is configured for wireless internet access in addition to fully equipped computer facilities. Discover cultural and family traditions. Experience Mexican customs. Become fluent in Spanish. Host families will provide room cleaning, towel, bed linen, 3 meals and will do laundry. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES Students can participate in intramural sports and workshops at no additional cost. The sports available are swimming, basketball, soccer, volleyball and aerobics. There is also a gym. Workshops include salsa dance and handcrafts. Students can also participated in outdoors activities, specific designed to enrich their learning experienced; treasure hunt Downtown, piñatas making competition, Mexican Food; Preparation, exhibition, tasting and competition. Program description 2006 2 CULTURAL TRIPS Overnight trip to Mexico City and Teotihucan, including: transportation, hotel, one breakfast, one lunch and various visits, three hours driving distance from Queretaro. One all-day trip to Guanajuato including: transportation and visits. Food is not included, two hours driving distance from Queretaro. One local trip to Peña de Bernal, one hour driving distance from Queretaro, including transportation and visits. Food is not included. INTERNET All students will have access to the campus computer center and internet. Students who bring laptop computers can plug in to internet at the central patio, the cyber plaza, many outdoor tables around campus, and at the school library. The entire campus is also set-up for wireless internet service. CAFETERIA For the summer season the Tec cafeteria is opened from 7:00 am to 6:00pm, and offers full meals and snacks.
