POSITION SUMMARY
As a member of the Golf Management Team the Head Golf Professional is responsible and accountable for the
daily operations of the golf shop staff, guest service staff and coordinates with the Director of Golf to provide
first class service for our guest. This includes meeting or exceeding our established standards for employee
experience, guest experience, sales and financial performance. As the Head Golf Professional you must lead by
example, taking a proactive position to all issues concerning the golf shop and guest services. Additional duties
may be assigned as required.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
The Head Golf Professional organizes and directs the daily activities of the Golf Shop Staff and the
Guest Services Staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Assist the Director of Golf in achieving targets for RevPar through the maximization of rounds and
revenues.
Innovative in identifying market strategies to stay ahead of the competition.
Act as a mentor for the development of staff in all related areas. It becomes the responsibility of the
Head Golf Professional to educate, train, retrain and develop team members in golf operations,
tournament organization and execution, merchandising and proper check-in procedures.
It is the responsibility of the Head Golf Professional to maintain effective communication between all
staff members in regards to course operations and Human Resource issues. Communicating the core
values and mission of BlueStar Resort & Golf is vital to the achievement of Company goals.
Interview, hire and council with staff members as needed. In this endeavor, challenge the status quo by
attracting more women and minorities into the BlueStar business of golf.
Create a fun work environment; a personal satisfaction the team derives from being part of BlueStar
Resort & Golf.
Responsible for guiding all apprentices in their pursuit of his/her class A Membership. Along with
attaining BlueStar Resort & Golf Certifications in succession planning.
Responsible for appraising performance of team members including rewarding and disciplining. Player
Ability Reviews of immediate staff are to be conducted in accordance with the guidelines specified and
in a timely fashion.
Directly supervise staff by carrying out the responsibilities in accordance with BlueStar Resort & Golf
policies and procedures. This will include planning, assigning and at times performing activities of
workers supervised.
Lead by example, setting a benchmark of performance in the areas of innovation, motivation, and
animation.
Accept responsibility for personal decisions and actions.
Spontaneously recognize and celebrate team member success.
Assist with the formulation and establishing of operating procedures and goals.
Assist in establishing and managing purchase order programs, department checkbooks, contribution
reports, and budgets for all operations at the golf course property.
Review weekly and monthly contribution reports of each operation, including Food & Beverage,
Superintendent, and Sales Manager.
Proactive in exceeding guest satisfaction. At times it may be necessary to investigate, quickly respond to
and resolve challenges from guests.
Oversee and assist in all tournament operations with sales managers.
Ensure superior standards of service are at all times meeting the requirements of our guests and
employees and are constantly being improved upon. This may mean being creative in seeking new
ways to get things done.
Attend exhibitions, buying shows, tournaments and educational seminars to stay abreast of the
development in the golf industry.
Meet with staff at all levels to plan for the future of golf as well as expediting the needs of the current
expectations.
Develop a common vision amongst team members of a desired future state.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
BA, degree preferred; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical
procedures, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or
complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write
reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information
and respond to questions from groups of managers, guests, suppliers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,
percentages and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Must be able to execute budgets on a daily, monthly and annual basis.
Must be able to understand the P&L statement.
Must be able to present capital projects.
Class A PGA membership in good standing
