KEYWORD: liver cleansing diet

TITLE: Long Live the Liver!

BODY:

The liver is the second largest organ in the body. It acts much like a security guard, sifting through

everything that passes through it, retaining or excreting chemicals as necessary. The liver is very much a

detoxifier, breaking down substances so that they can be easily excreted. Another important function of

the liver involves the production of bile used in the digestion of fats. The liver, as well as the kidneys,

have the job of processing chemicals and eliminating them in sweat, urine and feces. The liver also has

the capability to store glucose in the form of glycogen as reserve energy, all a part of the all- important

metabolism of fats and protein.

Because the burden that the body puts on the liver is so big, sometimes it cannot keep up with the

demands. Although the liver has a natural way of restoring itself to its normal function, constant trauma

and use can cause irreversible damage which can permanently interfere with its proper function. A

person’s lifestyle and eating habits can contribute to this. That is one reason it’s so important to take

care of our liver and why we should incorporate the liver cleansing diet into our life.

An awareness of what substances or chemicals we allow to enter our body can be a way to cleanse the

liver and restore it to its function. A liver cleansing diet is a conscientious way of taking care of the liver

and preventing/correcting diseases from taking place by removing unwanted toxins that are congested

in the body and replacing it with good substitute diet, easy for processing and eliminating.

Liver Cleansing Diet: A Diet to Live

The liver cleansing diet is said to have effects on weight control whether for gaining or losing weight. It

the body. It concentrates more on healthy foods like whole grains, legumes and foods that are rich in

fiber, and low in sugar and saturated fats. Hence, it promotes organic foods while avoiding foods that

can cause harm like: caffeinated foods, fried and salty foods, lunch meats, alcohol rich foods, soft drinks

as well as red meats.

Prior to starting the liver cleansing diet, certain foods are halted temporarily. After, a liquid diet is

followed for one to two days followed by the gradual reintroduction of foods. As the days go on, (about

day 3 or 4) solid foods such as brown rice, fruits, vegetables may be added. You continue in this way,

adding other foods. It is best to choose fresh fruits and vegetables. It is very important to take care of

our health. We only have one body and so we must take good care of it. This liver cleansing diet is an
