11 TO INVITE THE NATIONAL COMMANDER OF THE
12 AMERICAN LEGION, THE HONORABLE CLARENCE HILL,
13 TO ADDRESS THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN JOINT
14 SESSION IN THE CHAMBER OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA
15 HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AT 12:30 P.M. ON
16 TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2010.

18 Whereas, the Honorable Clarence Hill is a distinguished veteran of
19 the United States Navy and a resident of the State of Ohio; and
20
21 Whereas, having held numerous offices in the American Legion at
22 various levels, the Honorable Clarence Hill was elected as the
23 national commander on August 27, 2009, in Louisville, Kentucky
24 during the ninety-first national convention of the American
25 Legion; and
26
27 Whereas, with a membership approaching three million, the
28 American Legion has thirty-two thousand members in South
29 Carolina and is one of the most influential and prestigious
30 organizations in the United States and is the largest veterans
31 organization in this country; and
32
33 Whereas, speaking before a joint session of the South Carolina
34 General Assembly is an honor reserved for leaders of national
35 prominence. Now, therefore,

37 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
38 concurring:

40 That the National Commander of the American Legion, the
41 Honorable Clarence Hill, be invited to address the General
42 Assembly in joint session in the Chamber of the South Carolina

1 House of Representatives at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23,
2 2010.

4 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
5 the Honorable Clarence Hill.
